Excellent facilities; great location”

I visited Harbour House with my mum who used to live in Hermanus, and we were both delighted with the experience. The room was terrific (and nice view too) and the reception staff (including staff-in-training) consistently went out of their way to help us. Will definitely be back.

Lovely stop on the Cape”

We stopped over at The Harbour House Hotel on our journey down the Garden Route. We found the hotel easily as it was on the front, over looking the ocean. We had an excellent room, with a balcony which overlooked the square and the sea with lovely views of the mountainsides in the distance. The room itself was clean and comfortable with rose petals strewn over the floor, bath and bed and the bed was decorated with 2 towels in the shape of swans. This was a lovely touch. The room was good value, costing around £86 for the night. There was a microwave, sink, cutlery and crockery in the room, so we could cook our own tea if we had wanted to. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was shut but had a lovely breakfast in the breakfast room, which consisted of a buffet of breads, meat and cheeses as well as a cooked breakfast. The staff were attentive without being overly zealous. The staff were polite and all spoke good English, which was good as my Afrikaans is none existent. The hotel had a gym, but we didn't make use of this facility. I would recommend this hotel if you want a nice relaxing break, not too far from Cape Town.

Great Location”

We were upgraded into a larger room without such a request being made, which is always a bonus. The room was a good size, but a bit soulless. The staff were very attentive, and cheerful. Compared to other hotels and B&Bs that we stayed in during our visit the breakfast was average, with tasty fresh fruit and pastries, but the cooked breakfast was no better than average. The hotel location is fantastic, being close to the sea, restaurants and bars of Hermanus. You could step outside the front door of the hotel and see the whales.

Booked an ocean view room with Harbour House but got a room at their sister hotel which is about 1 min walk away and here were no ocean view. Not sure what when wrong as hotel claim that the booking we did on Agoda is on the sister hotel and not Harbour House. Hotel is cleaned and new, though we had issues with the room card everyday, had to walk to Harbour House reception to change it, which created a lot of inconvenience having to walk back and forth. Location is great, many restaurant and shop options within walking distance and you can whale watch by the cliff next to the ocean, which is only a few mins walk from the hotel.

CHARACTERFUL HOTEL IN GREAT LOCATION”

Hermanus is a gem of a place around 90 mins from Cape Town. The Harbour House is in prime position right on the front & 20 metres from the shops, restaurants etc. They don't serve dinner but then one is spoilt for choice on the doorstep. Recommended for a relaxing stay.

Hi We booked at the Harbour Hotel in Hermanus on Friday 15 February 2019 at 12.22 pm the deposit was R594.00, see the confirmation of the deposit on the first attachment. The cost of the hotel was R5940.00 therefore we should have billed R5346.00 for the outstanding amount as R594.00 was already paid for our booking on the 26 April 2019. On the 23 April 2019 an amount of R6006.00 was billed to our credit card ? PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY AND CONFIRM BY E-MAIL as this was not our agreement. Excellent Hotel”

This hotel is located in the heart of the Hermanus waterfront with fantastic views across the bay. The room was comfortable and spacious room. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel or stay there again. Moreover, the reception staff could not have been more charming or helpful.

Beautiful hotel in a stunning location”

I dont knowhow anyone could give this hotel negative reviews. Sea views, right in the centre of town and lovely and peaceful. Staff were very friendly. We stayed in room 7 in the manor house. Gorgeous room, huge shower and bath, comfy bed with luxury cotton sheets. Would definitely stay again

Harbour House, Hermanus, RSA”

The Harbour House Hotel is very clean, intimate establishment with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are large, clean and very modern. The hotel is situated close the the seashore and from the front rooms it should be possible to go whaling watching from your balcony. It is only a short (and safe!) walk to several very good eateries and bars.

Great place to stay”

Harbour House is centrally situated with fab views of Walker Bay. Our suite was so lovely we were quite happy to spend ages chilling & enjoying the beautiful views.

Great location but Hotel needs to look at ......”

The hotel itself is very well situated if not excellent but some of the facilities need to be looked at: 1) No tissues in the room for ladies 2) USB ports in wall socket did not work 3) TV was OLD and HDMI did not work - I had to request a replacement. I take my Firestick with me when I travel so I can continue to watch what I like when I like. It's 2021 afterall! Hotels don't normally supply Netflix, Prime, Streaming etc so I take my own when I travel. 4) I cannot understand understand why they charged extra on a B&B price for a Cafe latte or Americano?? Should be part of the service 5) They should provide fresh milk in the room fridge for each guest (a small jug replaced every day when it's serviced) 6) No body lotion in the bathroom 7) Wall mirrors were so low that we could not see ourselves unless we bent down - both my wife and I are 1.73m tall - pretty average height. 8) Backrest on each bed was a rail system - making sitting up in bed very uncomfortable. These are small things that can easily be fixed - needs some attention to detail on simple comforts.

Great location (next to the habour)”

pros: acrossed a tiny road and u be at the habour, watching the whales. had booked a romantic room and it comes with the biggest bathtub! nice. on the 3rd day, i changed to the newer room on the other wing that comes with a mini kitchen. really useful as we can made our own lunch using the microwave provided in the room. room has air condition as well as heater. excellent breakfast, it's no buffet style but made to order with a selection of eggs, yogurt, cereals, breads and fresh fruit juice. location is amazing, just a road to the whales. within 5 mins walk to johnny rockets & kfc. cons basically i can't find any flaws. it's a beautiful hotel with excellent service and in nice location.

Splendid location and great service”

We've known the property on which the hotel has been built, retaining the original house, for 50 years. The quality of the new construction is good, most rooms are spacious and have sea views. The staff are enthusiastic and attentive. A grerat break!

Not given the luxury room we had paid for!”

Booked a luxury room for our silver wedding anniversary, hotel tried to give us a comfort room on the other side of the road from main hotel. Based on Agoda website photos and room description. To make matters worse we were on the 5th floor and the lift was broken! When we complained to the hotel they said all the luxury rooms have been sold, but as we tried to explain was that is what we had booked, but the very unhelpful duty manager told us the comfort room was a luxury room, even though it did not have a kitchenette. In the end after a lot of arguing we were offered a premium room and no compensation for the down grade of room, as no luxury rooms were available. Contacted Agoda to complain and when they contacted the hotel , they were told a lot. Incorrect information! This really spoiled our visit to Hermanus which is lovely.

Great Hotel with Great Views”

Great Hotel , Check In service was very good , friendly staff, good breakfast, conveniently centrally situated . Great views from Romantic rooms in main hotel. (Please note when booking Romantic rooms in main hotel they do not offer single beds , only double beds ).

Nice Hotel but club down the road ruins a peaceful night's sleep. ”

Hi there. Nice hotel but disappointing experience. I checked in on Saturday 6th Jan eve as a surprise stop for my Husband's Birthday at Harbour House Hotel, The location was great, and the room set up promised a romantic eve, as the seaside is on your doorstep, everything was ruined by the blaring music and screaming patrons from the nightclub a block away which carried on till 02:00 am! you can hear the music even when the doors and windows are closed which makes a seaside room on a warm day stuffy and humid. Hotel staff say they complained and that there was nothing that can be done as the nightclub owner had a licence to operate till 2am...FYI a nightclub owner is allowed to operate till 2am- but loud music, according to city by laws say that it should be switched off at MIDNIGHT. The hotel ought to research this and exercise their right as a hospitality business so that they don't lose returning patrons.

Good Value - good location”

Great Location - there are two buildings - one on the shore and another across the street - thus make sure you ask for the room you would like - however the Hotel is so well postioned that you will not be disappointed. Breakfast was very good. Leave time to walk the sea side path that you may access from the parking spot adjacent to the Hotel.

Great Location - Noise Levels in New Building was Horrible ”

Absolutely great location - You can spot whales from the pool and also walking distance to the town square, markets, cliff path etc. Unfortunately we stayed in the unit across the road from the main hotel. We parked separately and also needed to make a trip across the road for breakfast but this was OK - Since it is just a few meters. Take note - Check in is at 3pm (As opposed to a few others that are earlier) The biggest challenge and my reluctance to suggest this hotel again is the Noise. The building we were in was poorly insulated. We could here most movements from the downstairs restaurant, including movement of furniture, locking up etc. etc. Same for the movements in the corridoor of the hotel building. Sadly the worst was the noise levels from a nearby Bar/Club. The dance music went on until 3am (or at least thats when we fell asleep) Great hotel, great location, not great sleep unfortunately.

Very enjoyable stay”

Very enjoyable stay. The rooms were large and clean and there was a great view from the balcony. The breakfasts were delicious, as were the afternoon scones. The pool overlooked the road which wasn't ideal and the free internet was limited. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel.

Disabled people cannot get around very well and the downstairs room is an instult to disabled people like the have to be hidden away. They also cannot get up tomthe poolmdeck. The breakfast is limited. Othen 4 5 * hotels offer more cereal choices and evel flapjacks. No plain yogurt is in view and you are not told to ask for it. The vanity cupbourd in room 12 is broken on the barrhroom side and the aircon does not cool down. No frother is offered in the room what is capicino without froth your drinks are over charge a virgin mojito R50 where most places ask R38 for a mojito. R18700 for 6 nights for what you get is expensive
