Much better value for money than the stars suggest”

I have stayed at the Sahid Gunawangsa several times and each time the staff have been faultlessly helpful and very friendly. I have been continually impressed by their high standards of customer service. The building itself is very pleasant. The fittings and furnishings in the rooms are new and the comfort and cleanliness is very good. The price is far lower than I would normally expect for a hotel that is this generally nice. I had only two minor concerns from my recent stay. The pool is lovely, but while very clean for the first of my five days there, it became considerably dirtier over the subsequent days. This probably indicates a weekly cleaning schedule, and other residential tenants of the building may also have contributed. That said, it remained cleaner than some other hotel pools I have encountered in Indonesia. The other concern was about the included buffet breakfast. On my previous stays, the breakfast included local specialities, such as jamu and kue. Sometimes there has even been live music. These were absent this time, and the rest of the food was a fairly usual choice of western-style and local breakfasts. Some of the local food was far saltier than it should have been on one day, but this may have been bad luck. The food was generally still good and the value for money was still excellent. However, it was a slightly disappointing to know that it was a bit less special than it had been previously. Despite these two points, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

It's really a happy ending trip for my team. We were having a difficult and complicatedtarget while staying and working at Surabaya, but Sahid Gunawangsa, was a great place to rest and refresh..

Service Apartment”

Short stay, location bit far from Surabaya city center. Room a bit small but still comfortable and we managed to keep our luggage. Staff is very helpful and polite, I totally satisfied with their service. Thank you for your kind hospitality, recommended for families or group to stay.

What's good about Sahid Gunawangsa : Only need 30 mins from the airport, the room is very big and spacey. My 18 months old son very happy playing in the room as well as at the pool. Me and husband like the food very much, we have a great breakfast and the service is very fast; the employee was very hospitable. The hotel is far from traffic but has easy access to go to everywhere including to the city and the recreation places. We only have a small minor disappointment: The cleaning service forgot to change our towels and they should turn on the AC on the LIFT because there's no air there and very uncomfortable. Try use the lift from GF to floor 23 to go the restaurant you'll get sweaty. And it's bit smelly.

Basic hotel room on the 19th floor apt complex”

The rooms are located on the 16-20th floor; this complex is significantly the tallest in the area. If your room is on the outside, you'll have a nice city view. While there are the usual stores nearby, the shopping isn't good. Location is a problem, but this seemed to be a common problem in Surabaya. Staff responded well to my questions. I walked around the neighborhood and felt safe. My single room with a double bed was crowded. Very utilitarian feel to the room. The open closet had plenty of space to hang a wardrobe of clothes. Shower and toilet together in a small room, but adequate. Lavatory on the outside. Very small baloney; had to request that its room be unlocked. AC worked fine. Flat screen TV had BBC, CNN, Animal Channel, etc. I found the place to be more than adequate and a good value. For what it is, this hotel is a very good choice.

Pleasant hotel, friendly staff”

Overall it was a pleasant stay. The staff were friendly and attentive. The room was comfortable, the wifi was okay. This hotel is very close to the biggest mall in Surabaya, so location wise this hotel is very strategic.

Nice hotel, not a new building but well-maintained”

Superb and worthed every money spend. It's a fancy hotel but thanks to God I can have a good price through AGODA. The hotel is in the city center of Surabaya, you may access easily all place through hotel by taxi or rental car. The most important is large room and the humble staff is a main reason I recommed Sahid as good hotel to spend your night.

Good solo traveller hotel”

I was staying at Gunawangsa Hotel for one of my trips to Surabaya, and overall I was satisfied by my stay. I got upgraded for free to a better room and the staff is polite and friendly. I did not use the access to the pool or gym, but these are shared with the residence too. The price can be a little ''high'' if you are solo travelling and are on a budget, but you can often find a discount which makes the hotel a great place to stay. It is not far from Galaxy Mall, and only a short drive to Tunjungan Plaza which is a great place to go for a drink

Better than the three-star rating suggests”

The service from the staff was excellent especially in light of the room prices of this hotel. The building is fairly new, very clean and generally pleasant. The inclusions in the rooms were only of a three-star standard (a single pair of slippers for a double room, less-than-generous provisions of shampoo, no conditioner, amusingly fragile toothbrushes, etc.) but the cleanliness, presentation and comfort of the room were excellent. The breakfast buffet included a well-chosen selection of local, Asian and Western options, including some enjoyable and interesting local specialities. The food was all of a good quality. My main disappointment this time around was the condition of the pool, which seemed to be underfilled, so that it was not being pumped and filtered. The pool water was very unclean for most of my week there. The pool is shared with the apartments that share the same buildings, so this may not be the responsibility of the hotel alone. Otherwise, this hotel exceeded my expectations especially considering the price.

Me and my husband and two kids stay at sahid gunawangsa for two days.The room is clean with surabaya city view in the window.we place at 19th floor.the bath room is completed with warm water facility eventough no bathub there.we offered free massage for 10 minutes and welcome drinks.we use swimming pool with no additional charge.The breakfast offered with the indonesian food and western food.If we need taxi soon,there are bluebird taxi standby.We enjoy there.

Excellent value for money”

This hotel is available at a very low price yet it is new, the rooms are in excellent condition and are very comfortable. The included breakfast is an excellent range of local and international dishes, including some local specialities and the location, while not ideal for most tourism purposes, was ideal for my purpose, and is directly above several shops, providing an alternative to the hotel food if desired. The main criticism of this hotel was the condition of the pool, which was highly unclean. It is shared with the neighbouring apartments, so the upkeep and condition may not be the responsibility solely of the hotel. The greatest single asset of this hotel, however, is the service of the staff. I do not think that I have encountered more dedicated and helpful staff even in hotels ten times the price.

HOTEL Taxi not competent”

We just had a nightmare with taxi service from Gunawangsa Manyar Hotel. On 1st March 2017 around 04:00 am in the morning, we ordered a Hotel taxi via the Reception to Juanda international Airport. The taxi arrived and we put our luggage inside the boot. As he drove on, it became clear to us that he did not have a clue on the direction of the airport. Apparently he was a new driver. Out of desperation, he stopped in a dark place and asked the village people on direction. He did not switch on the taxi operator service for assistance. He seemed to know nothing on how to use GPS. He did not attempt to communicate with his hand phone for help. He drove very slow and got trouble with engine continue stopping. We all get very nervous and requested him to turn back to the Gunawangsa Manyar Hotel. He initially ignored the request until he realized he was not making progress. Upon arrival back to hotel, we switched to a new hotel taxi. The whole episode was very scary and nerve-racking experience. I hope in the future the hotel make sure Taxi that arrive to the premise to be of competent driver and already briefed on safe driving.

Our stay at this hotel was very comfortable. They upgraded the room for us. It was very spacious and located at high floor which gives us a nice view of Surabaya city. They also served us welcome drink and a bucket of fruits on our arrival day. The beds are very comfortable. Towel, toiletries are provided. The breakfast was good with mix of local and western food available.

Like this stay very much but the area is ugly and very polluted and noisy. Within the building, everything is very nice. Ask the taxidriver for apartment Gunawangsa , as the hotel recently opened only.

Stayed at Sahid Gunawangsa was a great experience for first time visit with small children. Clean hotel with good security. Next visit will try the swimming pool.
