"The building is quite old but we didn’t bother,on the first night we had a old spring mattress that was stabbing my back but I’ve ask the receptionist to change it and they did it in less then 5 min . The staff is lovely and the location is perfect ( just 3 min walk from the Kuching waterfront ). Bathroom and shower ensuite and the air con works perfectly . Very cheap compare to the rest of the hostels in Kuching "

"Stayed here for 2 nights. Hostel located right at the heart of Kuching Waterfront. Short walk away from the nearest shopping complex and a boat away from a cheap Kek Batik and Terubuk Masin place. As this is a hostel, do not compare this with a hotel, but i provides more than a hostel can give "

"Room - It was better than i expected, but would be better if they provided the plug next to every bed so we can charge while using it. Facilities - I got what i needed :) Breakfast - Basic breakfast like bread & butter, tea, coffee.. who doesnt like free breakfast? ;D Bar - amazingly cheap! Plus i got 1 free shot of tuak from Shida, the owner , and i love it! Common area - they have pool table, darts and also a reading area. Staffs - Sweet, friendly, and treat you like a friend. I booked for 2 nights but I stayed only for 1 nite (too bad) just because I went to different part of Sarawak unplanned and stayed in the hotel nearby as it was already dark and i was alone to drive back to the city. Funny part was, I forgot that I supposed to check out on the next day but i totally forgot until around 3pm and i quickly gv Ben a call, and he was like okay and told me no need to rush. Thanks Ben! Anyway, its a good cheap place to stay in Kuching, worth every penny!"

"The place was good, but later on we moved to the Kuok Pin, which belongs to the same owner and were really happy because it was a little more quiet. The rooms are simple and clean, there is everything you need. Comfy beds, aircon and warm water from the shower. The owner John was a very helfpful and a super nice host. He even organized some tours to Bako and Semenggoh for us. If you wanna stay in Kuching for a couple of days one of John's hotels is definitely a good choice. "

"We absolutely loved our stay at Nanga Damai. The homestay is beautiful and has an actual waterfall in the backyard!! If you are looking to go trekking at Mount Santubong, it's the perfect location as it is located just at walking distance from the entrance. But if you're just looking for a place to relax, you're also at the right address. Poly, the owner, is such a nice man. One evening he came to pick us up at the beach, as there are very few Grabs around. The day we were leaving, he brought us - together with another couple - to our next hotels in Kuching city. He also arranged a cruise for us, which we very much enjoyed. Highly recommend. "

"Located right in the centre of the Kuching Waterfront area, without a doubt the best thing about this place is the excellent location, followed closely by the friendly staff. The shuttle bus stop is close by, and you can ask the hotel staff to book it so that it picks you up right in front of the hotel. The main bus stop (no. 1) is a few minutes walk away, for destinations accessible by public transport. A large shopping centre (Plaza Merdeka) is about 10 minutes walk away, and of course there's the waterfront itself, which has some great views and plenty of food stalls. Finally Chinatown is also just behind the hotel for an excellent taste of local food, including Sarawak Laksa and Kolo Mee. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and generally fluent in English - I definitely recommend going over your plans with them as they will be able to give you all sorts of tips and tricks to enhance your experience. They're also very enthusiastic when talking about the local culture and scenery - it's clear that they love their city and it's contagious. The lodge itself is beautifully designed in traditional Chinese style (Nyonya I think?), and the owner has acquired all sorts of interesting antiques as decoration. The sky-well is another interesting feature. The building is mostly wood and can be a bit creaky. The room was a bit small and the view was not great (but maybe just luck). The bed was wooden and was quite creaky. There were only two electrical sockets (one of which didn't connect very well) and our tap dripped sometimes. There was no wireless connection in the room (so you have to use the lobby), but the staff told us they were planning to install routers in the rooms soon. Apart from these minor gripes, the room was clean and comfortable, and quite pleasantly decorated. To sum up, the excellent location, friendly staff and beautiful building design as well as affordable price make this place an excellent recommendation for your stay in Kuching. "

"The room and bathroom is very clean.Free breakfast, Wi-Fi, coffee. Initially i have decided to stay for only for 2 days (single room with shared bathroom)as i wanted to move to another hostel; wanted to experience different hostel environment as i will be in Kuching for one week. I felt too comfortable .....i have extended my stay stay for another 4 days. This time round i have moved to dormitory (MYR 15). The dorm is also very clean and it comes with a comfy bed, pillow and comforter similar to the ones in the single room. Had a good sleep in the dorm. The employees were very friendly and helpful. The communal room is very cozy and i feel like being at home. Centrally located - 15 minutes away from the airport and about 10 minutes walk to Kuching waterfront. "
