Not a Marco Polo but not a Red Planet either!”
After trying many hotels in Davao City I would say that the Grand Regal Hotel is the best hotel for me. Never mine Abreeza or Radisson they are in another class of hotels. But for the P 2,000 - P 4,000.00 range I would say that this hotel is value for money due to its large rooms, fairly good breakfast, location (in the middle of the busy JP Laurel Avenue), close to good restaurants and SM Lanang Mall. Would help if you renovate the pool, arrange a new band and light up the hotel a little more from the outside to attract more visitors.

i found the grand regal hotel a fantastic place. its full of davao charm and the staff are fantastic. i was initially startled by the carpeted floors( many hotels whave polished wooden now) but hey, it goes with the place, the rooms are spacious and the price is average and affordable. the hotel is located abot 7 klm from town but a taxi will cost 120 pesos or you can catch a jeepny outside the hotel for 20 peso.. its your choice of course. perhaps you should try both. i found the grand regal hotel a great place, good security with internet in rooms ( just ask for password at lobby desk) and of course the whole of the lobby area is free wifi also. my recommendation is to go there and enjoy the hotel. just a small note, if you are a smoker ( davao city has strong anti smoking laws- so dont breach them) you can smoke in designated areas and always dispose of your rubbish and cigerette butts in the right place. davao city is a rather clean city and its good to see.

Waterfront of the South”
Anyone who has stayed at the Waterfront properties in Cebu will find this property very reminiscent. Aside from the casino, the rooms and layout have a similar feel. We booked a superior room and found it to be very spacious and elegant. The housekeeping staff were very accommodating in our requests and the staff very pleasant. The gym needs to be modernized but any drawbacks are nullified with a hot sauna and swim. All of those facilities are in close proximity of each other. The hotel is an older establishment and resonates a rustic style of elegance. The management is accommodating and attentive to any issues. The Grand Regal is in walking distance to SM mall which was quite impressive. It is also close to the wharfs and airport. We have been traveling around the islands for a couple of months and the Grand Regal is certainly our choice when in Davao.

My sister & I stayed at Grand Regal Hotel for both Business & Pleasure Trip. We truly enjoyed our stay in the hotel. The hotel staff/employees are very accommodating. They are all courteous & all attentive to the requests. I requested for a room with pool view & the request was granted. There are great amenities in the hotel like the swimming pool, resto bar, casino etc., and our breakfast buffet are already included in the package. The location of the hotel is very accessible as my Client fetches us everyday to and from the hotel. Will definitely stay again in this hotel in my future trips in Davao. Thanks for making our stay here truly enjoyable & memorable.

Nice hotel with very helpful staff, and cold beer”
This was my first trip to an asian country, my friend helped me choose the Grand Regal. Nice hotel in a good location. Had view of Samal Island. The breakfast buffet was the best of all the hotels I stayed at. I went to Davao during summertime, A/C works well. There is an onsight casino, very small compared to Las Vegas, but fun to see the difference. Has a nice bar with very cold beer. They also have currency exchange at hotel which is very helpful to have.

Our overall stay in Grand Regal Hotel is an excellent one. Staff are very friendly, pleasant and makes you feel very welcome. The rooms is a bit small for 3 person but it was alright.My 18 year old son did not complain so it must be ok for him too. My husband and I will definitely will comeback and stay at Grand Regal Hotel again.

We do hope the cardio machines in the gym get an upgrade and some other equipment is added. Elliptical and rowing machines, please. You have some really personable trainers. Hope you give them some more tools to do their job. The pool was very refreshing after the sauna. Love that combination! The superior room we had on the eleventh floor had a stunning view of the mountains. Breakfast this morning was very tasty. Love your Davao hot chocolate! Hope to return to Davao and Samal! It was an adventure. Salamat!

Hotel accomodation for Ironman 70.3 Davao”
This hotel is very near Azuela Cove which is the venue of Ironman 70.3 Davao. The staff were accommodating on the phone and in person. Transfers from and to the airport was a breeze. The hotel is dated but their huge room will make up for it. Their bed is also big although I wish they had comforters included by default. Plus points that they have bath tub in the bathroom and I hope they install bidet next time. Breakfast food was good and had variety. We appreciate they had early breakfast schedule on race day. My toddler son had awesome time in the pool eventhough it was 4 feet deep. Overall, a great experience.

The hotel is ok, but needs a renovation”
The Grand regal is not quite an old hotel and you you can see it everywhere. It really needs a make-over. It´s really old fashioned. The rooms are spacious, the bed is hug and the view from the 10th floor is awesome- The room are equiped with a big bed, normal sized cr, tv, fridge and a desk. And an old carpet. You get all you need, but it´s not like a 4 star hotel. ZThe breakfast is ok. The best is really the staff which is very helpful. The hotel is located close to SM Lanang and close tht airport. So that´s a big pro for the Grand regal.

Great People”
Great staff, food, location, and amenities. I mistaken booked the wrong date for arrival and the manager honored my reservation. The people were all so friendly, perhaps a trait of the Filipinos, but still a warm and generous welcoming. The city is very clean, compared to cities of the same size. The food was delicious from the street vendors the to the 5(?) star accommodations at the Grand Regal. There is a shopping mall close enough to walk if you are up to it, but if not the taxi fair or Jeeps or very inexpensive way to travel.

Hotel for IM 703 Davao”
It's our second time to stay in this hotel and we still had a pleasant stay. All staff are courteous and helpful, checking in/out is a breeze, airport transfer is convenient and free, buffet breakfast is good, bed is big, and their room is spacious. Too bad that their pool is under renovation at the moment. Nevertheless, my son still enjoyed playing in the bathtub. Plus points that it is very near the Ironman 70.3 Davao venue.

Grand Regal is my usual place to stay in Davao whenever I go there for business. Decent buffet breakfast, good location. Although hotel looks quite dated and needs renovation.
