Excellent accommodation in the heart of town”

An excellent option for travelers using Te Anau as a base to visit Milford Sound. Our two bedroom apartment was incredibly spacious and well stocked with basic kitchen amenities (but not equipped with full kitchen amenities) but was adequate given how much we paid. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom has a rather interesting design that partitions the sink, shower, and toilet. My only (minor) critique is that the sink had separate faucets for hot and cold water, which was rather outdated. We would suggest updating it with a single faucet to moderate the temperature. Regardless, the owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, suggesting many activities in the area. Overall, a great option and would highly recommend it!

Nice staying”

The location is very nice. Te anau is a small city btw. So it's close to city center. The owner manage it's own place, she was really nice offered us fresh milk as welcome drink. The room has warmer and also electric blanket that really help us since we traveling in winter Anyway it's a nice stay

Clean and spacious with a lovely garden outlook”

Mary is a great host - friendly and helpful with local activities and bookings. The room was great with super comfy bed and lots of space. Short walk to town and the lake. A really positive experience. In Te Anau the Sandfly Cafe is the go for a good coffee and friendly staff. If you like Indian food, Radha’s is good for a curry.

Great Place to Stay ”

We stayed for one night on our trip through the South Island of New Zealand. The proprietor Mary was so very helpful in giving us tips on what to do, where to eat and when to leave for Milford Sound. The accommodations were clean and the room very large with a splendid view of the park. Close to everything in Te Anau.

Nice little motel in a quiet place”

This motel gives you convenient when travelling with your vehicle. Kitchen has no hoot to suck cooking smoke so microwave reheating maybe the suitable option. Beside making bed everyday they tidy the sink and floor too which was unexpected as other motel will just refill toiletry and towel. Mary assummably the motel owner was very nice and helpful she can arrange you dinner reservation and deals for day trip.

Perfect accommodation for a relaxing break”

We stopped for 3 nights in a one bedded suite, very clean, newly refurbished and you can hear a pin drop. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The motel is no more than a 5 minute walk to town/ lake. Our room is large, well equipped and we have a king sized bed. The price compares well with other accommodation we have stayed in during our tour around New Zealand.

Nice town”

The room was great. The town was beautiful. It really a regret that we only spent 1 night there. All my friends said that they definitly will come to Te Anau again.

Awesome place to stay with friendliest of staff!”

Our stay was extremely pleasant. The location of the Explorer hotel was awesome. The friendliest of staff who provided much more service than asked for. Super helpful and flexible. The view from the room was also really lovely. The proximity to our day trip locations was also very convenient. We enjoyed the Explorer so much we extended our stay by a night and the staff were super flexible in arranging it. Great place to stay and recommend it.

Comfortable hotel with excellent service and smile”

We choose the two bedrooms apartment for three people and was given a spacious and comfortable ground floor apartment that is huge and feel like a house, not just apartment. The staff is keen to help us to downgrade the room if we want to, but we love the place and decide to keep it. The hotel has a lovely front garden and is in a walking distance to the beautiful lake nearby and is close to local shopping as well. The con is the bathroom, which is large but a bit old, however it is clean enough. The staff is very helpful and willing to help us to book the sightseeing flight for us to Milford Sound, unfortunately the weather is not permit. Overall we are very happy with our stay and will go back to this place again if we have another holiday!

Spotless & spacious”

We had 4 adults in unit 18 and could not get over the large space that we had to spread out! From the moment we checked in and the owner/manager (?) chatted with me about activity options, to when we had to leave after two great nights in Fiordland, we loved this motel. Would highly recommend to a family looking for quiet and space. Within walking distance of anything you need in town.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Explorer - close to town and the lake. Excellent accommodations and amenities in the room - everything we needed. Clean and modernly updated. Mary - the front desk clerk - was so courteous and helpful! Would definitely recommend!

Exemplary service at Explorers in Te Anau”

Location is perfect for using as a base for exploring area as well as for walking to local shops and restaurants. As MJ states it is an old business but she makes up for this in her welcome and support, our room had balcony,armchairs so a relaxing place to be too.

Spacious room”

The room was great and located not that far from the city center and the lake. The room was clean as well and the facilties inside the room were good.

Great place to stay in Te Anu”

We were welcomed and shown to our large light filled room on the first floor over looking the beautiful lawn area at the front of the apartments. The view from our balcony was lovely with snow capped mountains in the background. We were less than a 5 minute walk through the park to the town centre. We would most definitely stay here again.

Great location and very spacious”

The apartments are older but clean and well catered for. The new owners are in the process of slowly renovating them. We stayed on the top floor and had a nice view over the town, our two children loved the space and the trampoline out the front. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I would definately stay here again and recommend to others.

A Te Anau delight!”

It was lovely to meet a Motel manageress so keen to make sure your stay was memorable. Small things, like lending us another pan, waiting with us for our tour guide and e-mailing him for us with our lunch order, all made for a really homey feel.

Great motel and very clean”

We arrived from Queenstown and had a cruise booked at Milford Sound . As we were running late , Mary was so nice to ring the company so we can board a later cruise . The motel is really clean and comfortable and well equipped .

Zero regrets!”

Mary at the reception is lovely and went out of her way to help us confirm/book/amend existing/new bookings, etc. Very well stocked lovely apartments just minutes walk from town.
