Wow. What a resort, what an island.”
Just had a really nice stay in Evolution. Nearly didn't book as no Agoda review yet so you take a chance. Brand new quality rooms with big comfy bed, hot shower in really quiet place. Building is good quality so cool at night. Really comfy and clean. We had nice terrace with chairs but they also have hammocks under the coconut trees. Very cool. Resort is really great - it seems more spacious then the others which are all cramped on the beach. The rooms at Evolution are about 50m from tha water with big wide open space at the front for all to enjoy. The whole resort is white sand. Really great food in the beach restaurant. Try the burger. We dived with thresher sharks and more sharks at gato in the evolution 5 star dive centre. We didn't have to do anything but sign the papers and dive. Staff are really great and friendly. The resort also arranged transfer to and from Malapascua which was great as we had short time. This is the best resort we have stayed in so far this trip. Next time we will stay two weeks!

Weekend in Malapascua”
We had a very nice stay at Evolution last weekend. It was probably on the pricey side, as two nights for a couple in an air con room was total USD 137.90 not including breakfast. But everything worked and there were good mosquito screens on the windows and a nice balcony. Also, we had two double beds in our room (just for 2 people) which ultimately just means a biggish room with lots of space to spread your stuff out on. It has a great location on a very nice beach (which is cleaned of seaweed daily). We didn't dive with Evolution as we got a better price with Exotic, of PHP 1700 TOTAL including gear and taxes for one dive to see the thresher sharks (90% chance of seeing them). The restaurant associated with Evolution is called Craic, and is branded separately. They do good food and have good service and can serve you on the beach. Bring bug spray as the mosquitos/ants/whatever gave us a few nasty bites.

Between luxury and budget, Evolution Is Average”
While the Evolution Dive Resort rates an overall B in quality for mid-priced resorts, I felt the value rated a D as it's priced slightly higher. So when considering it's niche between luxury and backpacker, Evolution is average. The Room (A-) : The hotel-like fan room was immaculate, modern, and great hot water. The terrace was also pleasant. One small complaint, no light switch near the bed. There is only a shelving unit for clothes. Amenities (D-): No wifi in the room and no pool. Staff (A) : Overall, the staff are very nice. Most English was above average. Food (C+): I found the food decent, but not necessarily a good value. Overall, the restaurant felt like a way to extract a larger rent from guests. For example, a tiny one scoop sundae came in a small glass and was around 125 pesos. Beer was twice the restaurant average and hamburgers were 300 pesos. I eat at higher end restaurants in Manila and Cebu for similar prices and higher quality. There are other restaurants down the beach, however. The Dive Shop (A): Evolution has highly trained dive masters and prides itself on a well run shop. From equipment, to keeping track of diver scheduling and treating us as individuals, they are indeed full service. If you are a technically inclined diver, this is an excellent place to acquire you certification. However, you will pay dearly for their services. This is partly due to the fact that Malapascua is not actually close to many dive sites, so fuel is an issue. However, Evolution still charges a greater premium than other dive sites on the island. After per dive costs, equipment rental, and park fees, one can easily spend $50 per dive or $100 or $150 a day. OVERALL: The reason I'd rate this resort a C (average) is simply the price point. For this money, I've been at high end resorts with a pool, laundry, room wifi, the works. Quality is not a big issue, so if you are not price sensitive, you should still be happy.

Loved Evolution dive resort”
Wonderful dive resort with 5 star diving service, restaurant and friendly staff. We love that the resort works to be eco friendly. A wonderful vibe with nice music, a great menu and very very clean and comfy rooms. It is on the most beautiful part of island on a white sand beach. highly recommend and we will return! We did many dives with our over the top dive master and crew and had an epic dive with thresher sharks! Love love love! Gato and chocolate island were also favorite dives :). Thank you to evolution staff to help our stay most amazing!!!

Very Nice stay !”
We really enjoyed our stay at Evolution Resort! The restaurant/bar is really nice. The staff is very caring (too much ? they ask every 10 minutes if everything is ok...), the food is good, ambiance is quite relax. You should try it even if you don't stay at the hotel. The only thing where we were disappointed is the dive center. Good thing is that they are very serious and material is good quality. But we bought 4 dives + 2 night dives + 1 deep-dive PADI course and we didn't have any discount although we were clients of the hotel.

Super friendly staff, good food. ”
It was totally a relaxing holiday. Everyone was very friendly and smiling. The food at the restaurant was probably the best on the island. Although they had a very busy schedule for diving and snorkeling, they managed to squeeze us in. Our stay in Evolution Resort was totally satisfying.

Amazing place and staff”
I spent a week diving with Evolution and top down, they were all around fantastic. The staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming, and included you in their daily routines including dinner and drinks if you so desired. The boats and gear were well maintained and lots of attentioned paid to detail. The food served at evolution was also fantastic and arguably some of the best on the island. The mornjng views are to die for. A+++. Top notch operation.

Very good”
This resort is a good 20-minute walk to Bounty beach where the public boat would dock. Luckily for us, we hired a private boat and you can ask them to take you right on the shores of Evolution resort. if you don't like the crowd, then this beach area is for you. However, the rooms were rather pricey. The only affordable option would be a fan room which is about the same price for an AC room in the resort next door (Exotic). With the hot and humid weather, its not a good idea to get a fan room. I was expecting a lot from Craic House (their restaurant) but the food is pricey and choices are minimal. They only serve 2 main dish daily. If you like meat, then there's nothing for you here. They only serve vegatables and seafood.

Great resort especially for diving ”
The resort is very simple but very nice, it is right in front of a nice white sandy beach, and we were lucky enough to get the first room overlooking the ocean, literally 20 meters from the sea. In the morning there are small boats on the beach to take the divers, but after 9am all the boats leave and the beach is basically empty and much more enjoyable. The restaurant in the resort was good, the staff was nice and friendly, there were many diving options, but we decided to avoid diving because we were both beginners and my wife was a bit afraid, we will try it next time for sure. There are nice spots for snorkelling but there is not much more to do in the island, beside diving and sunbathing. Overall we had a very nice stay and I will recommend Malapascua island and this resort to friends.

Best resort on Malapascua!”
Evolution has everything you could want in a dive trip. The rooms are clean and spacious, the restaurant is affordable and the food tasty, and the diving is excellent. Check in/out is super easy, and the place is so safe that I felt fine not locking my door. The staff are all helpful and nice. If you're diving with Evolution (which you absolutely should because they are far and away the most eco-friendly dive shop), there's no better place to stay.

Excellent week of bubbles ”
Incredible. Evolution is tops. The whole staff, from boat boys to restaurant staff and manager, instructors, other guests, even a DMT, and dive guides, the whole island was excellent. A great vibe throughout my week long stay. attention to detail and care from the minute I exited the airport. It came highly recommended and I highly recommend. A huge big thanks to Matt and his team. Oh! And the fish too! And sharks, and nudies and octos and ...

Exceptional”
The resort was great, I had beach front room steps away from water. The dive shop staff was great and professional they took care of everything and entire stay couldn't have better. If budget isn't a issue take private driver and boat, that drop you right at resort. I took it getting there and it was 4 hours total from hotel to resort. I took public ferry and bus back just to see and it took 7.5 hours. Plus having to try to fit me and my dive gear luggage on a moped to ferry and another one from ferry to bus terminal. Then get a taxi in cebu. So private eas more expensive but easy.

Nice accommodation a bit away from all the rest. ”
This place is like 15 min walk from where you arrive with the boats. Either you pay 150 to a local to get you there with boat or you walk. The place is very quite and nice. Beautiful beach and location, the rooms are really nice and the shower is the best ive had in PH! The personell are good and offer nanny for 150pesos/hour a bit steep i would say considerig they earn like 600 a day. But i guess it is what it is. Their diving crew is though not to my liking, they have a great review on the island but I never felt it going there. Lack of entusiasm and lack of guidence, so Inonly did one dive and then went for devocean and tresher shark divers, hence a bit if walking during the days. Restaurant is fine, expensive food considering other options. Their wraps, falafel especially is great though! There is a little place 3min behind the hotel which offers cheaper food to start the day, or you just go to hippocampus which have great food and nice view and better prices!

New rooms, quiet location”
The rooms seemed new and are in a good condition. The shower head could do with an updgrade but this isn't a major issue. The location of the hotel is at the end of the beach, making it quiet. It is also a 5 to 10 mins walk to the main sections of the beach. Diving with evolution is abit pricey though but the facilities seem good!

Will definitely be back!”
Everyone (reception, restaurant, dive masters and instructors, guys on the boats) at Evolution was amazing. They were so friendly (called me by name from check in until departure). For the most part, the food in the restaurant was very good, and happy hour drinks were just what I needed after a day of diving. I was there for the scuba experience and they didn't disappoint with the selection of dive sites, attention to diver safety and overall knowledge of the area.

Great place for divers”
Conveniently located for divers with Evolution, and high level of rooms and service for a divers island. Highly recommended if within your budget.

Low season”
My only knock is the restaurant. Service was very slow, even by local norms. The chef really, really likes hot spice. I like heat, but even dishes not normally spicy are laden with peppers. The kinilaw, (local version of ceviche), was way too spiced for my wife to eat. We've eaten a lot of kinilaw in the last 90 days, it's never been hot. The diving was great. Dive staff is professional. Boat was in good shape. (I'm a dive professional and picky) The Thresher Shark dive is an advanced dive: deep, current, and only fair viz. We did see several sharks though :) Unfortunately not all divers/ops respect the lines attached to concrete blocks in the viewing area. Divers went beyond the stated boundry, ruining our photo ops. Not Evolution's fault, they play by the rules; very "green" and environmentally responsible. Gato Island is a must do dive. Awesome.

A little piece of paradise - a perfect end of our ”
This was the last stop for us as part of our honeymoon trip and the dive resort and staff went out of their way to make it special for us. We had issues with our flights to get there, but rearranging airport transfers was not a problem, and they even rang us to see if we wanted any dinner cooking as we were arriving after the kitchen closed. They could not do enough to help. The surroundings of the resort are fabulous. Palm trees, hammocks and outdoor sofas, all looking out over the turquoise water. Its beautiful. Its located more or less at the end of the strip of hotels and dive centres, which means it is very peaceful. The dive Centre on site is top top class. Quality equipment and the most amazing dive guides. We went out with Gino and Alex and they were some of the best guides I have ever come across. They were amazing - spotting even the smallest of creatures. Above all this is a great place to while away a few hours, days or months! Top class!

Loved it”
Place is new or looks new. Loved the way the place is set up with bean bags and sofa on the beach. Bar looks posh and beer is reasonably priced. Food is pricey but that’s not surprising as the place is not for budget conscious guests. You can eat at the nearby market for less. Staff is friendly and guests are mostly foreigners. Rooms are clean, got no complaints. If I can think of anything to criticize the place is maybe they should assist their guests who check out who normally have heavy luggage. Help them get to their boat back to the main island. Overall i would go back.
