The visit to Essenwood House was much too brief! Paddy and John are fantastic, really fantastic hosts and they ensure that the establishment provides a good experience. I would recommend Essenwood House highly and I have already moved it to the top of my list of establishments in Durban.

This was a beautiful B&B and a great price! The owners were very friendly and helped me to find a tour in the area. It was a nice and safe neighborhood, though it required a taxi ride to go anywhere or do anything. I would definitely recommend this place!

Wonderful spacious room, stunning sea views (gorgeous sunrise) comfortable bed. With own patio area. Plus parking. But far from restaurants and main areas (possible to walk but not far ..20-30min). Very private peaceful and quiet

The owner waited up for us to let us in. Our plane was a few hours late so we didn't get in until almost midnight. We had an enjoyable breakfast in the morning.

Worst place to stay in durban ”
This property is nothing like the other reviews ...that were almost a year ago.. stained sheets. Dirty shower. No staff service after 10pm. Rude staff that don’t understand customer service. Never never again.

This single room was actually more spacious and nicer than I thought. Everything was perfect!! I only planned on staying one night, I woke up the next day and asked to extend my stay 😁... Alan and Sbu were the best hosts!!! They went above and beyond with making me feel welcome, thanks a mil gents. Keep up the great work.

Beautiful House but terrible experience ”
After receiving the booking confirmation. I arrived at the Essenwood House and was informed that they are without rooms. It appeared that duplicate bookings are common at their facility; someone was already in the room I had booked and there is nothing they could do about it. This was extremely unacceptable and demonstrated a lack of professionalism.

Misleading ”
The establishment pictured is far from reality. Rooms are small and need a lot of maintenance and upkeep. I booked a Queen Deluxe Suite which is the second best apparently. Bathroom was extremely untidy with broken tiles and plumbing. The couch smelled as though it was damp. This place is not 5 star! The staff is the only great thing about it. Letwin was amazing in helping out when I needed her. Aside from that, the driveway and construction were an eye sore. Definitely not comfortable stay.

I arrived and l was taken to a very smelly room with a dirty couch. I reported this to reception it took them almost 30 minutes to get to my room. Leaving the premise is very difficult this is controlled from reception. I waited 15 minutes in the morning for someone to open the gate for me. Facilities are good , the maintenance and hygiene is terrible.
