One night stay”
Excellent for a short stay if you need it cheap. For that money we've got nice clean room with bed linen and towels. It was warm and comfortable to sleep. Bathroom is clean and most of the time is empty, all for yourself. The kitchen and lodge were full of loud people in the evening but in the morning it was nice and quiet to have breakfast. We had our window looking into the yard, so it was quite load till late evening - people are enjoying themselves out there and sound spreads like in a well. Maybe other rooms don't have such an effect. All in all it was good for such money.

Initailly chose this as it was the cheapest one. Ive read some reviews about how awful it is because its dirty, its not a 5 star hotel but it is a nice place to stay. Its a bit dirty in the way that hostels can be sometimes. Most of the dirt I saw was from guests not wiping down the table after they used it ans dirty dishes in the sink. The staff are super helpful, the airline lost my luagge and the staff basically helped me anyway they could, lent me a charger, lent me a towel and didnt charge me and even in a 12 bed dorm you can actually sleep!! Loads of space to chill The only annoying downside, but after being in another hostel I think may be the norm, is there is no individual locker in the room which means you either have to go to reception everytime you want ro pull something out from there storage or you have to trust that no one in your dorm has sticky fingers. My flight out of NZ is from Wellington, I will be staying here again.

. I think it kinda doesn't deserve all bad ratings you can see on internet. I stayed there on Fri-Sat nights and Friday night in particular was a bit "wild" and loud but you couldn't hear anything in the room (1st floor) apart from traffic outside but if you want to stay in CBD there's obviously some traffic 24/7. If you expect birds singing outside your window don't go there! The whole place is sort of run down but considering number of people staying there it cannot be in mint condition, although would be nice to have shower heads on 1st floor. It might not be cleanest place on earth but again, considering number of people there + it was a weekend and to be fair I saw staff runing around with vacuum cleaner and cleaning trolley even after 11PM.

A backpackers is always noisy and not so clean. But this one does its best. The rooms are clean, bedding clean (in a 2 person bunkbed room) and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. Road noise not too bad and was heated well in the winter. Location was excellent. Easy walk to everywhere. Kitchen was well equipped, busy, but finding a space to put food in the fridges was a bit of an issue. Bathrooms could be a problem if it gets busy, but we were there in winter so no problem with cleanliness or availabilty. Overall, good value.

Pros Great staff and location 24hr reception Large kitchen Quite inexpensive Cons Creaky bunks Can be noisy at times Could use some upkeep with cleanliness of common areas If you plan to spend most of your time out on the town this place is great for the money. It's not all that cosy but it was good enough for me.

Was clean and tidy but very dated The showers on the second floor had the doors screwed shut. Kitchen area was ok, lots of fridges to put named stuff into but they also seemed to have been stuffed full by the long stay folks leaving no room for short timers

One or two showers on each floor. Could be more. Warm building. Big kitchen. Full fridges. Friendly staff. Thin walls. Good location, 10 min walk to Cuba street. Free overnight parking on the street if you're lucky to find one.

It’s a very cheap hostel in Wellington so I didn’t expect much out of it.

You get what you pay for”
Bed was comfortable, but room very noisy. Also I didn’t get the bottom bunk although I requested it beforehand. Overall quite dirty. There was only one shower in the first floor and it was leaking. sockets in common area were partially not working. I didn’t use the kitchen, but it seemed very busy and TV was always playing some series. Very good location.

Late arrival in Wellington for a big night out and just a few hours sleep needed so why pay mega $$$. Lodge reminded me of my student days (probably not a bad thing for a middle aged couple) and the beds were clean and comfy. A bit noisy but we caught up on sleep when we got home!

2 night stay with party at night time”
Pros - 24/7 check in, location, able to leave bags there during the day and friendly staff Cons - the staff member did not lodge our key bond when she took the cash and we had grief getting this back at the end of the stay. The toilets and showers were filthy. At night, there was a party going on and the staff did not do anything about it. We booked a queen bed and got bunk beds. When we went back to pick them up from the "storage space" the staff member did not check our bag numbers to make sure that we did not take someone else's bag, they need training in that space!

If you are just looking for a room just to sleep in, then this would be an Ok choice. It's affordable amd within the CBD. The staff are friendly. However, i asked for a large bed during booking, but we were placed in a double bed room, we didn't bother changing it since we're only staying for a night.
