The Butterfly Totem Guesthouse is a small establishment with a very attentive and gracious management team. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed they helped us in every possible way to get the most out our brief stay in Puerto Princesa.

Best in budgetWe did a late (8 pm instead of 2 pm) check-in. To our disappointment, they had no rooms for us although we had a an advance confirmed paid-in-full booking. So they arranged a room for us in another hotel approximately 20 mins from Butterfly Totem. Next morning they had arranged a transfer to Butterfly Totem with a new room. The rooms were okay, clean and airy. The staff managed to overcome our initial disappointment with good service and helpfulness. The breakfast is served at our room (they serve coffee, bread, butter, jam if you want, fruits) good for lazy travelers :P. They helped us with suggesting in town tours and getting us a tricycle. The hotel is 5 mins from the Puerto Princesa Airport, pretty good location. All over experience was good. I would return, given they don't give my room to other travelers.

Great Stay and very helpful Host (Thank you Mdm. May ^^)”
We have stayed at ButterflyTotem for 2 days before we heading to El Nido, the guesthouse is very near to the airport (about 3 mins by Tricycle). The room is clean and tidy, with hot shower and wifi (we are satisfied with the room as we get it at a cheap price). Also, we are very appreciate that the host (Mdm. May) has given a lot of helps to us especially in the booking for the transportation to El Nido and Tours in both Palawan & El Nido (Underground River Tour in Palawan & Island Hopping Tours in El Nido). Butterfly serves breakfast right infront of our room, and their breakfast is nice (with low price but we get free nice breakfast ^^). On the day that we're going to Underground River Tour (tour pick up at 5.30am), since it was too early for breakfast time, Mdm May has pack our breakfast into separate plastic bags, so that we can bring along our breakfast to eat in the van (so kind of her, thank you!!).

Cute and quaint guesthouse ”
The staff at Butterfly Totem are wonderful and kind. Walking distance to a number of restaurants and eateries. Very close to the Puerto Princesa airport. We really enjoyed our stay there!

Cant thank enough the people from this hotel. They helped us in every way they can. First reason to come back here again is because of the staff! The breakfast every morning was so good. Just sitting outside the room gives us that relaxing feeling. Ambiance of nature is real present. Hotel is walking distance to airport. The room is comfortable. We're so satisfied! All worth it staying in this hotel. We even came back here after going to El Nido. And definitely will come back again if there's a chance! Thank you Butterfly Totem, see you again :)

Would stay here again”
We arrived at the hotel tired and sick, so Mrs. May's cheerful and warm welcome was wonderful to receive. The facilities are quite basic, but with its one star rating, I think you get what you pay for. We felt very welcomed and cared for at the Butterfly Totem. The staff was very kind and helpful. The location was great. You can literally walk to the airport from the guest house. Its not too far from a road where you can catch a tricycle into the main part of the city. We were served breakfast in the morning, which was wonderful. Would definitely come back.

Friendly staff”
We reached the guesthouse at 6.30pm. There was a situation of overbooking and we were transferred to a sister guesthouse that is 20 minutes away from the airport. Can't speak too much of butterfly totem because we did not stay there but it's quite near the airport. Do take note that it is situated at the residential area for the local. Judging from the reviews from others, I believe Butterfly Totem should be nice place to stay but do make sure you let the guesthouse knows that you will be arriving late in advance in case they give out your room to others. The staff was very prompt in her action to quickly get a trike for us to get to the sister guesthouse and the owner May did her best to resolve the issue as soon as possible. They even booked a trike for us to ensure that we will get to the airport on time the following day. I can definitely attest for the great service that you will receive if you stay with Butterfly Totem :)

amazing stay. it's not a five star hotel but you are treated like a five star guests. Any concern or requests are addressed or resolved promptly with a warm smile. Butterfly Totem value their reputation and guests. They want your stay as stress free as possible. I highly recommend this place.

When I arrived, I was informed that my room had been given to another family who booked the room for 8 but decided that they want a separate room for the father and daughter. So I got the room for 8. I said it's okay coz clearly, I didn't have a choice and would rather spare myself from stress. But the owner/staff should follow the reservations and should not give exemptions at the expense of other customers. Breakfast was okay. The room I got was clean. The beddings were just okay. The shower has hot and cold options but the water flow was weak. The door to my room didn't lock properly. Good thing I double-check coz if not, I would've left my room open. Location is far from the main attractions, though quite near to good restaurants. Most positive thing are the staff who are very accommodating and nice. I will recommend to check other guesthouses/inns in Puerto Princesa. You might find better accommodation elsewhere.

Exceptional”
Small family run guesthouse with 8 rooms in a mixed residential/commercial section of Puerto Princesses. Responded to our every request. We had an early flight so they got up early to make us breakfast which was included in the room price along with transportation to the airport at 6:15 am. Little hard to find but worth the price which for us was less than $18 US. Would I go there again? Every time I am in PP I will stay there.

Friendly service”
Our air asian flight to Palawan was 10 hours late. We were reserved only 1 night from here and cause of the flight delay we just got there 7am in the next morning. They still offered us to stay till their check out time 12am, and since they were fully booked the next days, the owner offered us another hotel option, and free transportation to there. The place was her son's hotel, and even it was more expensive they offered us some discount to make it allmost same price than this, and it was a good place to stay. This was the friendliest hotel experience during our 2 month trip in Filippines!

I booked two separate schedules with them within a week. I wish I should've booked elsewhere on my last 2 days in Puerto Princesa. I might've found better accommodation elsewhere. In my first stay with them 3 days ago, they transferred me to another room (I didn't have a choice coz they already transferred the other customers to the room previously assigned to me). This time, I'm with a friend and requested if we can have a room bigger than the rolm for 2 coz the bed is a double bed and we would like to have separate beds. They didn't agree. I thought it was unfair but I let it go. The most positive thing I can say are the staff who are very accommodating and nice. The room for 2 was okay. Had a small table where I ate. Aircon was cold enough. The bathroom has a smell in it. The flush wasn't working.

Good place to stay for a cheap overnight”
It's not a 5 star place but nice for 1 star. The staff were extremely warm and friendly and provided really good hospitality. Offered us help / assistance without us having to ask and also just chatted in a friendly manner. Room was okay, nice bed but overall had a strange stale smell. Water pressure was too low to take a shower in the morning but it worked the night before so maybe it was just a one time thing Breakfast was good enough. At first I thought the location was a little seedy but it turned out to be safe, near the airport as well as walking distance to some good restaurants. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you plan to just lounge at the hotel all day but for an overnight stop near the airport or a base to do activities in Puerto Princess it was totally worth it and we would stay here again.

Exceptional”
Excellent! Mary made all the arrangements for us - tours, transfer to and from El Nido, and even our transfer to Astoria, Palawan. Her son picked us up from PP airport. She saved us extra $ (miscellaneous fees) - tour fees are fixed. She even asked her staff to run errands for us - buy stuffs for us (with receipts and we just pay her back), etc. She even arranged our stuffs picked up from the place and us picked up after the tour and have us transferred to El Nido. She made all the transfers easy for us traveling with senior citizens. Plus, even if we booked with Agoda, I can contact then through email or phone call in case something goes wrong. It feels like family. Thank you very much Mary and family!😇👍👋

Great guest house with helpful staff”
It was very comfortable. We stayed overnight there for a morning flight to Manila. I feel the guesthouse is underrated - it is more than 1-star. After 1-week's stay at El Nido, this place feels almost luxury :P The staff was super helpful and the location is great for going to airport. Highly recommended. Another plus - wifi is good!
