Before I go Catba Island, we just stayd for a short night. You should know this is like a love motel. What I never know hotel looked like when I was booking from the Agoda. Pay more stay others.

Would recommend”

We were pleased that we had chosen to stay at Classic Hoang Long Hotel, where we were warmly greeted upon our arrival. The reception staff were welcoming with bright smiles and help in getting us to our room. We highly recommend this hotel for its proximity to the Opera House and easy walking to other points of interest in Hai Phong. The breakfast meal was made fresh to order after a comfortable sleep in a Q bed in large room, prepared us for the new day. Thank you all of the team at Classic Hoang Long Hotel for making our stay so pleasant.

Nice big room & bathroom, great view”

Buddy & I hadn't planned on a two day stay but opted for here, everything good to go, staff was very helpful in our needs, whether be computer or making accommodation for us (with a follow up later, nice). If you like loud birds, check out the assortment down below ground level. Bawk!

Very nice hotel - great view”

we just stayed one night here before travelling to cat ba island. the hotel is luxurious in a dated sense. the view from our room was beautiful. the staff were friendly, and the room was very clean with a powerful shower. it is located near some nice bars and restaurants.

nice friendly hotel with complimentry steam and sauna with spa close to the boat wharves to catch ferry to cat ba island, walking distance to some attractions and an array of shops the hotel features some great collections of crystals and exotic stuffed animals in its grand entrance, a roof top restaurant with views of the city will stay again

Great location - fabulous staff”

very friendly greeting. we arrived from the plane before the normal check-in time but the staff were lovely and provided two very tired travellers tea, towels and somewhere cool and quiet to collapse. the room was clean and very nicely presented with loads of space - representing excellent value for money. the staff were incredibly attentive and extremely helpful when it came to organising the next leg of our travels.

Underwhelming ”

Room size was decent. Hotel seemed quite run down, there were pictures of semi-naked women everywhere (so wouldn't suggest this hotel for families), one of the staff was rude. Other reviewers mentioned the hotel is cold and I agree. We were provided a oil heater upon request.

Aircon is not 2 way, bed is hard and good for me. Rooms are large. Toilet windows are not flush.. so the cold air gets in. Breakfast was nice. Mangoes was great. A bit noisy from the sound of the ship's horn and other noises around. For the price it's ok. 3* ok

Basic, Not Best Value for Money”

My room was decent. Everything was clean and worked, but there was nothing special. For the price (especially compared to the cost of things in Vietnam), I expected more. I previously stayed in a similarly priced hotel in Sapa that was much nicer and more comfortable. Here, the bed was fine, but not that great. The room was fine, but a bit small. The breakfast was fine, but nothing special about it. Everything was fine, but I expected more for the price point. The staff was good and friendly, though, especially those who had better English capabilities.

Awful hotel. Very aged, unclean and uncomfortable.”

Uncomfortable bed. Aged decor. Small room. Cold. Worn down. Realised afterwards there are other places to stay which would have been more modern and better value for money. Oh, and poor breakfast. Stuffed animals so probably not good for the animal lovers.

Hotel was ok, ”

My room was a juxtaposition of charm and gourde. A real effort was made about decor and clearly it would not be for western tastes. I shouldn't be so critical. It is the way it is and I should appreciate the difference more than I do. The hotel and room were a sanctuary from the city in some respects.

This place is a dive!”

Checking in went smoothly but the hotel is a blast from the past, the room smelt musty and the overall decor harks back to a bygone era just not sure which era that might be with the paintings and even a photo framed in the restaurant there was also various stuffed animals throughout the hotel. It has a creepy feel to it and me and my wife couldn't wait checkout. This hotel should only be considered if absolutely desperate and no where else is available.

Dreadful place - don't go there.”

The whole hotel was very cold - the staff were wearing coats, scarves and gloves on duty. We had to ask twice before we were given an electric heater. There was no hot water for showers in the morning. The tea and coffee making facilities were limited to a kettle, which we couldn't plug in because it had the wrong plug on it, and two sachets of overly sweet instant iced lemon tea. Eventually a staff member brought us an adaptor, and later still an extension lead so that we could have the heater plugged in whilst boiling the kettle! We were given an incorrect password for the wifi connection. When we were later given the correct password the connection was so slow it continually timed out and couldn't be used successfully. The buffet breakfast was very limited and when we asked why this was so we were told "only ten guests in hotel". When we expressed our dissatisfaction the staff laughed. The level of English spoken by the staff was insufficient for dealing with non Vietnamese speaking clients.

Terrible hotel, dirty and old.”

The worst stay i had in vietnam ever must be this hotel. The conditions were shocking and roaches were running wild. There place is dirty and it was not even worth a dollar. I would not stay in this hotel again even if it was for free. only bonus was the reception helped us organise boat transfer to ha long bay

Old and comfortable hotel”

All went smoothly, although breakfast was a bit of a challenge as the staff were not overly interested in helping. Probably they are not used to westerners. Great views from the room and restaurant. Stuffed tiger in restaurant is a bit confronting. Is OK so long as not paying too much - $40 would be OK.

A Hotel for Generals and their concubines.”

one of the more unusual but fun hotels i have stayed in. it remindes me of a luxury hotel built in the 1960's for army generals and their concubines. the rooms are enormous, with nude etchings and 60's style telephones. the restaurant has a stuffed tiger overlooking the city. if you like hard matresses you will love this place. they were like concrete but strangely comfortable. not a luxurious hotel, but very quirky, and full of character. i loved it. seemed to be about 5 staff per guest as well, so you almost felt spoilt.
