Quiet and super relaxing environment. A hotel where you can get a good night sleep without noise.”
WHAT STOOD OUT FOR ME:- How non-intrusive your staff is. They actually leave you alone to be at home yet they are always on hand to promptly assist. I LOVE THAT. Very few hotels get that right. PROS:- Cleanliness, tea/coffee, comfy bed and a good quiet environment for night's rest-just awesome. I was also impressed that everything in my room actually works ie appliances, showers etc-best value for money really. CONS:- I was allocated #35 for the 6 nights I was there I had at least 3 encounters with cockroaches in the room mainly I felt they came from outside when I opened my window. Last year I was given #26 hardly any insects then and that was also an amazing stay. I had a great time. If you could just look into that roaches issue for rooms like #35 that could be super great. Overall I love the Durban Manor Hotel. 2018 was my first time I heard about it and tried it and I was hooked. Now on all my travels I judge other hotels against the standard of the Durban Manor. Thats good

Restful, lovely, nostalgic”
I LOVED staying at the Durban Manor. In future I will definitely be staying at the hotel for business and personal reasons. My bathroom took me back in time with the deep bath and the tiles, the bed was very comfortable, and I cannot express the feelings I had when I walked around the hotel "exploring" every floor and every piece of furniture. In short, Durban Manor is my new place to be and I will DEFINITELY become a familiar face there. Thank you to everyone who made my stay enjoyable.......and PS. The food was DIVINE!

My stay at Durban Manor hotel was indeed exciting. At first I could not believe I can afford such clean and spacious hotel rooms at the price I got it.The hotel is located in a safe place that is also close to most places that a vacationist would like to go.I look forward to a return visit.

Stunning place to stay in down-town Durban”
My room was very clean and comfortable, its facilities satisfactory. Any query I occasionally raised was attended to immediately. However, television reception on certain channels pertaining to sound and picture was poor and full DSTV, as advertised, was lacking. Besides that, the Staff were very friendly and obliging at all times. Durban Manor Hotel is a great place to stay in beautiful down-town Durban.

Traditional style hotel with welcoming hosts”
As my first time going to South Africa, I would most definately recommend Durban Manor! The place is very quiet and the hosts are willing to tend to any issues that you have. I will be going back to SA in four months and most definately will be staying once again at the Durban Manor.

Exceptional”
Built in 1901 and is considered a Durban landmark. Has kept it's heritage and is reflective in the hotel decor and rooms. Staff were very Friendly, room was clean and presentable. Close to good restaurants and nightclubs. Price was very reasonable.

plenty space to relax in after days out.”
spent a few days there after a coastal cruise - it's very convenient to the harbour, and tempest and avis car hire have branches within easy walking distance. the hotel is the old (1904) durban club, a "gentlemen's club" of the colonial era, so has the spacious accommodation expected. accordingly, this is an old-world rather than a glitzy place (including an ancient elevator). the only negative was the shower (over bath). the plumbing obviously needs plenty work in this old building, so it's easier to have a bath than it is to get the water temperature right with the shower mixer! a suggestion for the hotel: put a small table and chairs on the (large) balcony so that guests can enjoy that space.

The place is well located.”
The hotel is very well located, allowing you to explore the beauty of Durban. The room was clean with air conditioner on point. However, we didn't have soap in the first day so we had to remind them to put the soap. The stuffs were kindly.

Durban's best kept secret”
Despite many reviewers claiming to be scared of ghosts and other things at this hotel in the night, it has to be one of Durban's most unpromoted gems. It is an extremely interesting building of major heritage value having its origins as the Durban Club for gentlemen. Yes, the furnishings and building interior is a little tired and there is a need of some renovation work. However where in the world do you get a comfortable bed, spotlessly clean room, crisp towels, mini bar fridge, tea & coffee and toiletries for the price charged of less than $30. Its a great find and I will use it repeatedly when travelling to Durban

it was good for purpose”
In short it was a good one and i really enjoyed my stay with my wife. i will be coming back soon. On a different note:the hotel is very neat inside and the outside from a distance it looks ok but taking a closer look it need renovation from the old entry side(Walk in side with steps): that side is extremely nice however is no longer been used and i don't know why and there is conference room(Hall)facing the bar area that i feel it has been neglected hence not cleaned and Lastly there has to be a big board displaying the hotel namev(the one i saw was small you will pass it at night) please look into that

Durban Manor Hotel, a relic of the past.”
The Durban Manor Hotel is a massive place and is well located. It is quite a beautiful relic of times past and in its heyday would have been a sophisticated and buzzy place to be. However, because it was very quiet during the time we stayed, with only few customers to be seen in the dining room and bar it seemed seemed empty and bare. We all agreed we were lucky to be a group of four or else it would have been a lonely old place indeed.

In need of revamp”
Location is good for CBD and easy access to main roads into and out of Durban city centre. Beach is not too far from hotel. Staff are excellent and always helpful and parking and WiFi are free. But the hotel is old and feels creepy. Loads of sounds and noises from around get through into the rooms. The buildings need refitting and updating. Considering the rates, I guess one should say it's value for money and I suppose would recommend if one was on a VERY tight budget
