I booked a stay for 2 nights at Nam Long Hotel in Dong Hoi. I really enjoyed my time there and was very impressed with the clean room given to me. The girls at the front desk were very nice and friendly. The hotel staff also provided me with bicycles to get around town free of charge. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay in Dong Hoi. - Chris

This lovely homestay was one of the highlights of my trip to Dong Hoi! This homestay reflects well the character of its owner Sarah: a cheering, friendly and welcoming young lady, who works hard to make her guests happy. I was impressed by her friendliness, taking me to enjoy the beach and join her group of friends for an interesting talk. She has also made great improvements to her hotel, designing and building a private bar herself. There was nothing more satisfying than getting to know new people and having a chill and good time with them. They book good tours to the caves and they have free bikes for checking out the city center. They also provide great laundry service, they made my clothes soft and fresh like new. I loved this place and would definitely recommend it to other fellow backpackers. Love it!

It’s my 2nd time in Dong Hoi so I decided to stay somewhere different to last time. This didn’t disappoint. The family who own the place are the nicest people I’ve met in Vietnam, always willing to help, friendly welcome and great service. The rooms are clean as are the bathrooms. There’s a great balcony overlooking a lovely quiet street. There’s free breakfast in the morning which is delicious and at night there’s live music in the cafe downstairs. Honestly one of the BEST places I’ve stayed in Vietnam and I’ve been travelling around here for nearly 4 months. Highly recommended!!

The owners of the hoster are very friendly. They really make you feel comforteble and will help you with everything you ask them. The childeren of the owners do speak English. This is very unique cause so far I know no one in Dong Hoi could understand any English. It's a nice stay but the quality of the rooms is a little awfull. Everything is clean but it looks a bit molty though. The shower is right next to the toilet and if you shower the bathroomfloor will be totally wet even as the toilet it self. Overall I had a pretty nice stay wirh good airconditioning and a good circulating van.

We stayed at the sunshine hotel in order to see the caves in the national park. There's very little in Dong Hoi itself, and there is not really a centre to the town, it's just spread out along a few kilometers of main road. There is a pretty good beach a 20 minute walk from the hotel and there are a few vietnamese restaurants beside it. The owner is lovely and speaks very good english (a rarity in Dong Hoi) we hired a scooter from her for $10 (a little more expensive than other parts of vietnam, but it seems to be the going rate in Dong Hoi) and she provided a map and directions to the caves as well as giving some excellent tips on the best street food stalls in town. It's a perfectly acceptable budget hotel. Good size clean room, flat screen TV, clean bathroom with hot shower. I'd stay here again.

I backpacked together with my wife for the whole of Vietnam and this hotel has to be the one that left the deepest memory for me. Our train reached dong hoi at about 5am and kind folks there allowed us to check in early in the wee hours without extra charges or complains. This was also during the Vietnam New Year period so they extended their celebration to us and offered us much food and beer. The boss is very hardworking and kind, even lent us a motorcycle to visit the caves (just had to top the tank up). This is truly a small town hotel with a heart and I recommend everyone to stay here. Its pretty much a no frills hotel but its the best I have been in Vietnam.

We had a pleasant stay at Dozy Hostel. The room was spacious, nice and clean. They have a balcony on each floor, which is great place to hang out and enjoy the shadow, when the sun's getting too much. The location is great, as it is not directly down to the more busy main road, but is located a few blocks back in a more cozy and "local" area. Last but not least, are the hosts worth mentioning as they've been amazingly kind and helpful whether it's been booking a bus, scooter or recommending places to visit. Furthermore they provide bicycles for free. On top of it all they have the cutest dog, which is now our best friend!! - thank you!

This place is the perfect hotel to stay at in Dong Hoi. I stayed here twice while in Dong Hoi between trips to Phong Nha. I was so happy to come back the second time. After spending the night in the jungle and trekking for a couple of days I needed something comfortable and Gemani Hotel was exactly that. The bed is huge, the AC is strong, and the staff is amazing. The people who work here go above and beyond for guest, especially Meo. She is so friendly and helpful. She even reminded me about my trip when I forgot and made sure I was able to get on the public bus that doesn't actually stop. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay Gemani! I'll be back some day for more cave exploring!

This is a wonderful, basic hotel in Dong Hoi. Spartan, but has everything you need for the price. If you need fancy artwork or a separate dining room, this isn't for you. But it suited me fine and judging by other comments many other people too. The front desk is helpful and, while they don't all speak good English, they will refer you to a person who does. The manager is a beautiful lady who speaks great English and is super helpful in every way. All the staff were great! We booked a private driver to take us to the caves - easy peasy - and avoided the crowded 'set tour' buses (we are 3 very tall travelers). We don't like being herded through sights and just took our own time in the caves. It's cost effective, even if you are traveling alone. The caves are well worth the trip to Dong Hoi. Incredible, and set up well for tourists. There is no need to try to stay at the caves, it's a 1 - 1.5 hour drive from Dong Hoi. We extended our hotel stay becasue it was so easy to be based in the Nam Long Plus hotel. I would highly recommend just booking the car and driver they have at call. We also booked the car and driver to take us to Danang (5 hours and more comfortable than a bus or train).

I had 2 nights stay at this hostel with dorm option. The room is very new, clean and full facilities to let you take a rest after a long day of visiting everywhere. The owner is very hospitable, nice and friendly to support guests (rent motorbike, tour to the caves,...) Location is good to go anywhere with few mins to call to Nhat Le beach, Nhat Le bridge or go straightly to any caves in this province. I will come back here in the future.

Its a nice and tidy hotel. The owner is amazingly friendly, helpful and kind. She gave us instructions to delicious and reasonable restaurants around to taste local food. The room is clean, well equipped with new air con, fan, tv... And this one is close to Dong Hoi airport, about 10 minutes walking, and the owner provided us a free ride to airport. Definitely will book this hotel when I'm back there in future.

To be precise, the place doesn't really feel like a proper hotel, more like a large personal house that has more rooms that can fit customers. However, they charged hotel prices for room service, so I'll have to keep rating it as a proper hotel. Facilities are ok but nothing really to write home about. The rooms are nice and big, the beds comfortable and large, but the hot water runs out fast and takes a long while to get going again. No hot water for home-made tea or instant noodles, because make no mistake, Dong Hoi gets insanely cold in the winter. Amneties like soap and shampoo are obviously supermarket sample packets and not much else. Cleanliness and value for money are ok, good enough. Breakfast was cheap powdered coffee with a stale banh mi loaded with tough meat and excessive margarine (the Vietnamese rarely use butter, too high-class). The staff were excellent and kind, they spoke minimal English but helped us immensely to arrange two tours and help us get dinner when it was pouring and freezing outside. They did however charge us room service money for a hot dinner (meaning triple restaurant prices), so yeah. And most importantly, location. Unless you are renting motorcycles and have a really good map on how to go to the interesting places in Dong Hoi, I strongly recommend you take a tour to go to those places. In that case, these tours send buses to your hotel to pick you up, so spending a load of money just to go to a hotel as far out as this one is a waste of money. The staff do their utmost best and bless them, but it can't really make up that you have to spend money to get there in the first place. My recommendation is to find a hotel much closer to the train station. If you do wind up here though, it's fine for a night.

The staff was insisting on keeping my passport, when i refused and suggested he made a copy, he got rude. The young guy with a cheap sports car was so rude, i got uncomfortable and said I dont want to stay there anymore. He refunded me around 80% of the paid price, so thats a plus. Not recommended, unless u like to argue with some local macho-type during your travels.

brief overnight break between trains. dirty room. no drinking water. no hot water for shower. no top sheet on bed. stained & sticky furry polyester blanket on bed. mattress was the hardest i have ever come across, and i am partial to a hardone. no give whatsoever. no english speaker to hand. no food available, at 7:30 pm. sent across the road to a mosquito infested dump.

luxe hotel was specifically chosen due to the hotel close proximity to nhật lệ beach. nhật lệ beach is a just 15 minuted walk away. rooms are clean and spacious. the room given had a great view – looking towards nhật lệ river emptying into the south china sea and facing the sunrise. the hotel staffs are very friendly and speak good english. conversing english with them is a luxury in dong hoi considering the city caters so little for tourist. the only let down for luxe hotel is that they do not provide breakfast in the morning, noting that breakfast is hard to find around the vicinity of the hotel. the local café in the hotel provides limited choice of food.

We went Dong Hoi to travel to the Nha Phrang National Park and had a spare day which was spent mostly hanging around as we could find nothing in Dong Hoi of interest. The hotel seems to be aimed at business rather than tourists. The staff tried tobe helpful. We arrived at 8pm on the train from Hanoi and fiund it hard to find anywhere to eat. The hotel itself was satisfactory and clean.

Good location, opposite with Nhat Le Beach. Only one problem is check in time 14:00PM. Need to pay half day fee if you want to check in in the morning. Vị trí đẹp, đối diện biển Nhật Lệ, nhân viên thân thiện. Chỉ có một vấn đề về thời gian check in 14:00 và không nhiệt tình lắm trong việc hỗ trợ lấy phòng sớm, lấy sớm trả thêm phí nửa ngày. Ngoài ra sáng và tối có nhiều dĩn không biết ở đâu, bám vào chân.

The Riverside Hotel, Dong Hoi is a relatively new hotel built in French Colonial Style, which seems a little out of place with its surroundings, but it is very clean, spacious and the staff extremely helpful and attentive. We only stayed one night in Dong Hoi and found the hotel central enough for us to walk most places for a look around this part of the city. The beach nearby is not very inviting and at the time of our visit (Late October) was quite deserted. The Riverside Hotel is good value for money. My only disappointment was the breakfast.. We had to leave early to catch a train to Da Nang and went to the breakfast buffet at 6:15 (It opens at 6:00) and found that the food was still being setup and not all ready. The coffee was also not good; unusual in Vietnam.

nice beach, clean swimming pool, clean room. Generally, everything is clean but sometimes there are some butterflies. simple breakfast. This is on contruction, therefore, it is noisy - sometimes - around the swimming pool. The location is quite good for family relaxation. it is about 6kms far from the airport and the centre of Dong Hoi city (the distance written on Agoda is not exact). Nice staff.
