This place is conveniently located by the bus station, with good aircon, wifi and hot showers. (The beds were hard). The lady at reception was very helpful. She exchanged my money for both KIP and USD, at really competitive rates. They did cheap sandwiches and sticky rice too, and rented out their motorbike for 100,000 dong. PS If you have an e-visa, you can't cross the border near Dien Bien Phu...

It's a Vietnamese style hotel which actually resembles Chinese. The room is huge and the lobby is too. It's close to major tourist locations but far from restaurants and other local venues. If you can speak Vietnamese, it would be great to stay here. Yet, no motobike rental service really disappoints someone who travels alone like me. The restaurant in the hotel was not bad but a bit expensive at the local standard.

Homestay Muong Thanh is your home away from home when in Dien Bien Phu. The rooms are large, the bathroom is also big with hot water and a screened shower. Quynh is a great host and will attend to all your needs including travel bookings to Laos and on our second visit, onward to Sapa. She will also help make forward room reservations and changed or Loatian Kip into VND at a good rate. Quynh is a real gem and makes the best noodle soup. The homestay is conveniently located next to A1 and the Museum and Quynh's English is good, so when you come to Dien Bien Phu stay here!!!!

Our room was very nice thanks to a major renovation of the hotel in 2010. The breakfast buffet was ok but the Vietnamese food at dinner was low quality. It was our worst food in a month of travelling, and there is really no alternative to eating in the hotel in Dien Bien Phu. I suggested to the Deputy General Manager that they put in a limited menu of Vietnamese/western food at the more intimate and friendly coffee shop in the grounds near the hotel entrance, but he seemed to think their current cavernous, overlit dining room and poor food is ok.

There are zero tourist agents in town.Dien Bien Pu and Him Lan are Dien Bien Pu are how Vietnam was before the now political system. Resort is owned by the Party and that makes it very different in operation to a commercial establishment. Only worth visiting by students who wish to study the before and after the commercialization of Vietnam. Hotel is good, if you stay VIP other rooms not so good.It is a long way from town about 6km, English or French are not spoken at all. No European food in town.

Good for a night before you head on from Dien Bien Phu; decent bed, shower, and they did an extremely early check in of 6am for free for m me without any bother at all. The location is great if you're planning on walking around the town and seeing what sights there are. This is a key historical location in terms of the defeat of the french from Indo China. The hotel is a short moto taxi or taxi from the bus station; i think the mototaxi cost me 20 dong. Excellent facilities at the hotel, and they also offer onward bus tickets to either Sapa (Vietnam) or Luang Prabang/ Odomxai ( Laos) for a fairly reasonable rate.

This is the worst hotel where i have been during my 5 months travelling around asia. Really. The staff is very unfriendly,they dont speak english and they dont make any effort to try to help and understand you. It seems that they hate tourist really. The hotel is very unclean,you can see trash everywhere. We asked to them to call a taxi for us for the following day at 5 am,and when we woke up that day nobody was at the recepcion,so we have to go to the bus station walking.. Ahh,and one of the recepcionist who has "face of i dont want to be your friend" following us with his car saying that we have to pay ,when we have already pais through agoda. Really if you want to have a good time not stay here.. We are extrenely disappointed about this place and we dont recommended it. During nights they do karaoke(very strange) so you wont be able to sleep at all...
