Great choice ”

We have stayed at the Diamond Plaza before and thankfully doesn’t change. Yes it’s an old hotel, yes it’s dated inside but for the price it’s excellent value. The rooms are large, the bed linen is white and fresh as are the towels and it’s very clean. It is a bit out of town but if traveling by car/bus or bike it’s ideal. We ate in the restaurant both nights and both nights had entertainment on stage . Food is very reasonably priced so there was no need to go elsewhere. There is a Tesco Lotus across the road and shopping mail around the corner. It’ Certainly worth recommending.

great stop over hotel”

we needed to come back to mainland to catch a plane back to Bangkok so this was our stop over hotel. When we arrived in Surat by bus, tuk tuk grabbed our bags and we asked how much to Diamond Plaza Hotel? 40baht each! fine, he drives around the corner and stops at a hotel. I knew the hotel was out of town some so this was NOT it. NO NO NO this is not hotel. so he gets us to go in. Lady at desk said thought we might have change of heart and stay there close to shopping and night market! Scam, tuk tuk would get a cut. NO we said, we are booked and paid for at Diamond. so she tells him and he said another 40 each. so at the end of the day we got there. close to Tesco Lotus and out of the main city. great for stop over.

Great hotel for overnighting to/from the islands”

We overnighted there to and from our Kho Phangan stay. We enjoyed very minute of our stay. If you wish to dine near or visit the night Bazar, it will cost you only 20-30 THB per person. Trip to airport will cost 150 THB per person. All prices are tuk-tuk of course. The reception staff is very helpful, speak reasonable good English. The rooms are cheap and clean and quiet. You will have to purchase a wifi access code (100Thb for 24 hours). The restaurant will serve you dinner until midnight and offers a variety of good quality Thai dishes. You definitely want to consider this hotel when you next visit Suratthani !

Ideal hotel for business travellers and tourists”

I made a mistake and booked a month ahead of my arrival date. Luckily there were plenty of rooms (it's a very large hotel) and the staff simply asked me to contact Agoda to send a revised coupon - no other hassle at all. I was very busy with work, and even before I could do that, the new coupon was emailed to me. So thanks Agoda and thanks very much to the lady at the Diamond Hotel reception who must have initiated that for me. Loved my short stay there - and the night market was sensational.

Typical big hotel -- nothing special, but not bad”

the diamond plaza is the largest hotel in suratthani. our stay was fine, but standards are a bit different than the hotels we stayed at in bangkok. the diamond plaza is a large obelisk that caters to business men and people going to and from the islands. people are there short-term only, so there is no need for special amenities. the in-room refrigerator was nice and the prices on the mini-bar items were very reasonable. the "american" breakfast is a misnomer. the buffet featured rice, curries, and other asian specialties. that's fine because the hotel is in asia, but it was not what we expected for an "american" breakfast. the staff struggles with english, so be aware you should speak slowly and use simplified vocabulary -- minimize colloquailisms and slang. they do their best to help. the diamond plaza is located on the outskirts of suratthani, so you are removed from most of the restaurants and places recommended by tourist guides. still, for a night or two, it's just fine.

Almost biggest hotel in Suratthani”

The Diamond Plaza Hotel is lockated just 200 meters from Tesco Lotus shopping Mall. We stayed at this hotel at our week-end and every day there were huge wedding parties in it. So, if you come with the car, be ready to have problems with parking in the evening time. Breakfast was OK,but no any yogurts, porridges or flakes. Stuff don`t speak good English, so be you can have some misunderstandings . Any way stuff is nice and smiling. I can rate this hotel as a 3 star. Can recommend to stay at Diamond Plaza Hotel. Have a nice stay.

Transit at Suratthani”

After our Samui trip, we stayed and transit at Suratthani before our flight. The hotel price is reasonble and very affortable that it serves as an excellent transit place for us to stay before we fly. The breakfast place is very large, though the food varietes are limited but they just fit our appetite. The hotel is right at the main road so it is easy to find and has high sense of security. The room is spacious, bathroom is clean. The officers at the reception are very polite and kind. Our coach to the airport was late for pick up. We asked for help to the officers and they gave us their mobile phones so that we can contact the coach company. That is what we appreciate so much. And the bell boys, they helped us a lot in directing the pick up point where we could get the coach. I would recommend this hotel to businessman, backpackers and family.

Best hotel right at the edge of city”

The only one night with this hotel but my family feel very happy and relax stay in this hotel. Close to two big shopping malls and easy access to many seafood resturant in 10 minutes drive. Next time to Suratthani, we must lodge at Diamond Plaz Hotel again.

Good location”

The Diamond Plaza is located just a few kilometers outside of Surat Thani center but conveniently located on the road to the highway leading North and South of Thailand and near a big supermarket, Tesco Lotus, just across the road. The rail way station in Phun Pin is also not far away. The rooms are pretty standard and straightforward, although a bit noisy, all day and night long the sound of busy water pipes seems to buzz through the room. Breakfast is ok for Asian food but the bare basics for Western style food. All in all good value for money though.

good hotel to stay”

it is another good hotel that i would like to recommend all of you to stay when you visit surat thani. i would like to explain how good it is- as of the followings: 1) reasonable price :it is less than 1,000 bahts per day or approx. 30 us.dollars only. 2) good location : not far from the lotus super market. you can walk to lotus by approx. 10 minutes away. 3) clean and peaceful hotel : it is clean indeed. at night it is quiet and suitable to go to bed. 4) comfortable toilet and shower room. 5) big bed : it is comfortable indeed. 6) delicious breakfast.

Nice Modern Hotel”

This hotel is really modern, large rooms, good beds, aircon, bathroom with shower and bath. TV and mini bar in room. Spa and pool on 3rd floor. Room was on 10th floor with nice view. Internet facilities and wi-fi. Restaurant with varied menu. Ate there the evening, food average. American breakfast so-so. Basically could only eat the fruit and toast. Not much to do or to see in Suratthani. Slept there one night on my way from Koh Phangan. Flew out to Bangkok early the next morning.

Good hotel, good service ”

I needed a hotel just for one night very close to Surat Thani Airport and was pleasantly surprised by it's relatively cheap and convenient location. The foyer is grand and majestic but rooms are slightly less impressive. Plus side is that they were very big and spacious, with an equally big and comfortable bed. Room has a slightly worn out feel though - it has lost the radiance it perhaps possessed in it's early days. The archaic feel of the hotel was enhanced by the small oldschool box TV. The bathroom has both a separate bath and shower - a rare find. Facilities are generally quite basic but sufficient. Breakfast was quite disappointing, very limited variety. Diamond Plaza Hotel was one of the closest hotels to Surat Thani airport, however this is approx 20km away, so taxis as a lone traveller will amount to approx 600 baht if organised through the hotel. They don't organise cheaper shuttle bus services. Perhaps one of the better options to take if you just need a quick stopover before going to the airport.

Lovely Hotel near to Central Plaza”

Our room are quite big with bathtub & stand shower bathroom. I Choose this hotel becos its very near to the newly open Central Plaza.. This Central plaza are big & many restaurant & shops inside. By walking distance we can walk to tesco & night market. The bellboy are very helpful & friendly, but they'll need some tips. I given them just 20 bht but he's very appreciated. Will consider to stay here again if i come to surathani next time..

Not ideal but the only okay option @ Surah Thani”

Location of the hotel is a bit far from city center - it takes nearly 15-20 minutes to get to mid-town by taking taxi (local tuk tuk) but is within walking distance to Central Plaza (you will need to cross a very busy road and it may cost 10-15 minutes on foot). Airport is about 20-25 minutes away from the hotel. Booking a hotel car for picking up and sending off is recommended unless you have local friend whom may pick you up from and send you off to the airport. The cost of using hotel car service for airport transport is THB600 per journey. The hotel does not offer internet service, regardless of cable or wifi. In general, the hotel's facilities are old but clean. It is more like a city/convention hotel. The hotel was very busy during my stay as there was a big local meeting group. I saw most of the in-house guests are local Thai. Breakfast is okay for me. Majority of the options are Thai food but bacon, sausage, egg and coffee are also avaiable. Room service is available until 24:00 and price is reasonable - I am quite happy with this as I can hardly take local food - too spicy. Air cycling system seems not very good. Odd smell from carpet and outside spreaded over the entire floor I stayed, of course, including my room. Surah Thani is lack of senic attractions. I believe most of the foreign tourists staying at this hotel are just for one or maximun two nights to continue a journey to Koh Samui or back from the island to catch up flights back to Bangkok.

Good hotel”

The hotel is one of the known ones in Suratthani so finding it was not a problem. Has a big lobby and large rooms. The breakfast menu had stuff more for the locals. They need to add some international menus. Unfortunately the choice of eateries, etc outside of the hotel in the area in and around it is very limited. Be careful of the windows in your room. Do not let kids around it and make sure they are locked. They typically are not locked and if not careful one can fall straight down. Overall a good place to stay for the night over to catch the next morning flight back to Bangkok.

Nice Hotel at a good price”

This was our second stay here in ten days. We were a group of three couples and had an overnight stay here on the way to Bangkok after our stay in Koh Samui. We had a hiccup with available rooms which was fixed eventually . When my husband and I arrived in our room we found that the air-conditioned had water flooding out of it all over the desk and on the bathroom floor. The front desk sent a technician up straight away to fix it but he was having difficulties fixing it, we returned to the front desk and were given another room without any problems. This hotel is very good value for money, the breakfast is adequate for the price you have paid. I would stay here again.

Good but not great”

We flew in from Bangkok and stayed at the Diamond Plaza for one night on our way to a wedding three hours away. Our plane was four hours late, and getting to the hotel was a bit of a hassle, but that wasn't the property's fault. We were tired, thirsty, and hungry when we got in after midnight, but nothing was available. Fortunately, there were snacks and drinks in the room refrigerator. For a hotel this big, we did expect something to be open. As we were coming back for new year's eve, we also expected there to be something that night -- but there wasn't. So that was a bit disappointing, but since we were there for a wedding, we didn't think too much of it. The rooms were large. When the first room smelled of too many cigarettes for me, they were very kind and efficient at getting us a new room right away. Overall, our stay was pleasant. Not great, but pleasant.

Good hotel!”

This is a good hotel for Surat Thani! Had a great pool, very good gym compared to most hotels (best I have used in Thailand), good breakfast, friendly staff, good bed and great shower with good water pressure. Nice little coffee shop in the lobby and well kept lobby. Easy to get back to this hotel after being out as is very well known. The cons are that the staff have limited English, there are no umbrella's in the room, the bellboys hassle you a lot to buy taxi to airport etc., no towels available at pool, the breakfast is good but some may not like as is not Western, the food prices in the hotel are high and there is no food around the hotel so need to catch a taxi. Good, comfortable place to stay for one night if you don't mind catching transport to town and / or eating in the hotel! Great pool and good gym! The staff are great but as this is a generally Thai hotel they don't speak English.
