Overall I liked Danau Toba Hotel very much,great location and well kept,clean and the staff was friendly serving you with smile and helpfull but ofcos not all.On 2nd day of our stayed there I cant remember 1 male staff was very helpfull and patiently explained to us when asked about where is the tourist attractive place if we want to go and whether we can follow Hotel transport for the trip.For the food thumbs up it was nice and variety to choose and we like the quiet environment and nice lobby infront of the reception office. I only encounter 1 unpleasant experience before leaving on the last day,I had arranged hotel transport at the counter,somehow I felt very disappointed that we almost missed the flight due to overlooked the time because of the time difference,the Hotel staff didnt remind us at the booking time(0900hrs).

at the time i arrived at medan, all hotels are full and only left view with premium price. I am so glad that danau toba still provide some rooms at fair price. The location is strategic and the room are fairly clean and maintained good.

The hotel itself was nice although the building is quite old. For the price, it really is an excellent deal. The day that I flew in, the city airport (originally quite close to this hotel as it was located right in the city) had shut down, and airlines had moved to a brand new airport, which turned out to be about an hour outside the city (if traffic is good). So, be ready for a bit of a trek into the city if you are staying in Medan. As of summer 2013, there are no airport hotels near to KualaNamu Airport; Medan city seems to be the nearest option.

I like to stay here, the room, restaurant, food, all was perfect except only one of the staff ( the security ). He is the only painful staff, why I said that, because he was not friendly at all when I met him, I asked him if I can smoke when I had a rest in front of the reception. I did not see that there was a sign to say not allowed to smoke there, and that's why I asked him. But he angry at me n he did not say that please could u read the sign ? That would b nice if he said that to me, not u can not smoke here, can u use ur eyes to see the sign? N please b nice in this hotel !! I was surprise when he said that, n he spoke bataknese n he said, se gah ma ho gabe boru- boru !! ( in English : how bad u r as a woman ) I know n I do understand Batak language man !! I want to say that, but I do not want to fight with him n make my holiday not fun anymore, so he was the only worse n very bad staff I ever met in hotels in Medan during my holiday. The others staff in this hotel were very good, friendly, n I like them, only that security was the worse. Sorry has to wrote about this person here, but hope the management of this hotel read this, that I do not want other people upset just because of one person like that security, because this hotel is a good hotel. Thank you

Hotel Danau Toba claims a 5 star rating. It may have been 5 star at one point, but the hotel is old and the rooms are in need of renovation (signs around the hotel apologise for any inconvenience caused during renovation, so perhaps it is happening). In my view a 3 star rating is more appropriate and this is reflected in the room tariff. The hotel is still excellent value for money. Despite being in need of renovation, the rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel has an excellent swimming pool and a good fitness centre. The food in the restaurant is good and the buffet breakfast is excellent.

I have stayed 7 or 8 times in Medan. This was my first stay at Danau Toba hotel. A few negative points: - no safety box in room - when wanting to have juices at the pool, we asked whether we could sign to the room, answer OK. When leaving the pool area, I signed the bill with name, room number. 15 minutes later a man - never seen before - knocked at the room, saying drinks at the pool needed to be paid cash and can not be signed to the room !!! - while having dinner 9indoor restaurant0, many musquitos bite your feet and legs.
