comfortable hotel with affordable price ”

this was my 4th times visit to penang, this time i choosed to stay at copthorne orchid hotel because i love beach. copthorne orchid hotel is located at tanjung bungah which is exactly beside sea, you can find a lot of hotels nearby but none of it can offer a reasonable price come with a good view, at least copthorne does. if you like sea, you can choose this hotel, you can come down to talk a romantic walk beside beach or take a simple but delicious dinner inside the hotel. after walk, you can take shuttle bus to batu ferringi for the nigh market, you can find a lot of cute things here. next time if i have chance come to penang again, i will come back to this hotel again, why, because i love this hotel, their service, as well as the sea view. Copthorne is just a wonderful hotel :)

I love it”

I really love the hotel for many reasons 1- the price is very reasonable and very cheap comparing with the other hotels with same rating ,,, although it's located in the middle between batu frinhggi and Georgetown ,,, with nice Indian restaurant and mini markets walking around 3 or 4 minutes only .. any way next time I visit penang again totally I will book a room in Copthorne Orchid Hotel ...... thanks a lot Copthorne Orchid Hotel and agoda

Very nice hotel but don't trust sales person”

We have booked 2 different rooms using Agoda; 1-junior suite tower & 1-standard room. Two weeks before check in, we did call the Copthorne Orchid Hotel sales person if our 2 rooms can be located in the same floor. She said OK and CONFIRMS that our rooms will be in the same floor. Two days before we arrive at the hotel, we called again and ask them to confirm if our rooms are in the same floor and again they said CONFIRM. When the day we check-in, the front desk mentioned that our rooms are NOT in the same floor. We told them that we called your hotel twice and the sales person mentioned that it was confirmed. But the front desk insists that they did not receive any confirmation from their sales person. Because the hotel was fully booked so we could not do anything with our rooms. Other than that, the hotel is very comfortable. The staffs are friendly and very helpful. The rooms and pool are clean. They provide us daily newspaper and clean our room every day. The service was good, fast and sufficient. In other words we will definitely stay at Copthorne Orchid Hotel if we visit Penang again but won’t call the hotel for any confirmation before check in.

Nice hotel and friendly staff”

my mother and i, we were welcome by 2 porter personnel on our first day arrival. one of them carried our luggage with warmth and friendliness. that's was quite a surprise to us. at the reception the check in procedure was quick and efficient. technical service such as the lift was good and there were several lifts which cater to the needs of the clients. the room which we occupied was simple, tranquil and cozy. we were provided with our necessities such as mineral water and hot/cold showers. from the balcony of our room, we have a lovely view of the beach in tanjung bungah. it was breezy although a bit sunny during the hot season of june. the air con was okay for me but a bit too cold for my aged mother. overall, we had a wonderful stay at copthorne orchid hotel.

Suitable for all and strategic location”

ive always had a pleasant stay in Copthorne ever since I was a kid. It may be an old hotel but they are certainly with class. Rooms are clean and well equipped, reasonably priced for a hotel in Tanjung Bungah. Just ten minutes drive from Batu Ferringhi beach, and 15 to 20 minutes from the city centre. Staff are polite and helpful The sea view is breath taking. Walking distance from places to eat like Ingolf (german food and beer) and Indian Delights. Will come again and again

Value For Money”

The overall stay at Copthorne Orchid Penang is good and value for money, The location is near to famous beach in Penang i.e. Batu Feringghi and Tanjung Bungah. At night there is Night Market in Feringghi sells souvenirs, Cds etc. The pool is nice and the staff are very helpful.

Good location - near to beach and also to town”

it was a somewhat nostalgic return, having stayed there in the 1990's when it was called novotel penang. there were not much changes to the place other than the name change, to copthorne orchid. only downside to the hotel was its lack of internet access, outdated crt tv's with very limited choice of movies. a quick morning walk across the street, brings me back to the lovely tanjung bungah hawker center where i had my breakfast for under rm5.00.

a great value beach hotel”

The Copthorne Orchid hotel is a great value hotel set right on the coast in Penang just outside Georgetown. The hotel is in 2 parts the reception area and tower at the front then you walk past the pool and drop down another 6 floors to the garden and the beach. The benefit of this is that when you are down on the beach or in the gardens you hardly hear anything apart from the odd motor boat going by. The hotel does get busy at weekends when tour groups stay these are normally very noisy and you can get slamming doors until gone 23:00. But if you call reception they will try and quite things down. The hotel pool is also used by the locals at the weekend as well so for a quite time go down to the gardens. The view from your bedroom depends upon which side of the tower you are on. One side faces apartments and the other faces houses, but you can still see the sea from both. The hotel food is very good and not too expensive, but there are plenty of restaurants across the road at ‘local’ prices. Or you could catch a local aircon bus into Georgetown from right outside the hotel for 2 MR each way and eat there.

Value for money hotel with great service”

I have stayed in this hotel a few times due to its location at Tanjung Bungah as its one of the few good hotels not too far up compared to those in Batu Ferringhi. What I really like is that most of the rooms have at least a partial seaview for a very affordable price compared to other beach hotels where either you get a full seaview room at exorbitant prices or totally no seaview at all. Plus the hotel is built high with many storeys so you get a good view of the surroundings. My latest stay was good with friendly staff at the reception, house-keeping and most of all the security guards were friendly. When we came back late and the hotel was fully booked, the guards helped me find a parking space and escorted us there. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It's really good value for money.

The hotel is at an ideal location at the beginning of a stretch of beaches in northern Penang, so it's fairly close to Georgetown as well. The bus stops at the front of the hotel, and it takes you either direction to Batu Ferringhi, or Georgetown. There are 2 types of buses - Rapid Penang (air con) for RM2.00, or KGN HIN (another experience altogether!) for RM1.50 The hotel is about a 15-min walk to Tanjung Bungah pasar malam (night market), which sells all kinds of things on Tuesday night. This market is also open every morning for hawker food or kuih (Malay sweet and savoury titbits) if you fancy a change from the hotel breakfast. There is also another small food court, a small supermarket and a cake shop just across the road from the hotel.

Great Value, Awesome View”

Overall we were very please with Copthorne Orchid. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are a bit dated, but everything works fine and our room was clean. The bed is big and comfortable. We stayed in a Superior Room and the balcony was large and had an awesome sea view. The breakfast was very nice and offered plenty of options. The pool is very refreshing and has a deep end where the water is 2 meters deep, which is rare in Asia. Overall we were very satisfied with the hotel, especially for the price we paid, and we would stay here again and recommend to others. Here are a few of the things I think the hotel does need to improve, however: The balcony door has no handles, so it is not easy to open and close the large glass doors. The Internet is slow. The TV should be on a higher stand or mounted on the wall. The pool bar was never open during our stay. The taxis used by the hotel overcharge and do not have change.

Very comfortable stay”

My husband & I got a really good deal from Agoda. We visited Penang during the off peak season. Even though some of the reviews on Copthorne weren't that encouraging, we went ahead because my husband had stayed here before. We were very happy with the hotel. The room was very comfy, had a good sea view (partial sea view which we were informed during the booking process), very spacious, clean. The shower was strong, perfect and relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was conveniently located. Not too far from the city and Batu Ferringhi. Good for travellers like us who drive. We can also catch a bus to city. There's a bus and taxi stand outside the hotel. Can't comment on the food though as our room came without breakfast. I hope the hotel can enforce hotel guests to dry themselves at the pool before returning to their rooms. There were instances when the hotel lift was a bit wet due to the hotel guests. Parking might be a bit of a problem here on weekends and peak season. We didn't have problems parking since it's off peak. I guess parking will be even more of a problem if one stays in the heart of Georgetown.

my girlfriend and me are satisfied with this copthorne orchid hotel. actually we look for it in last min & we found that the rate is in our budget whereby it's come with 4 star as well. their customer service is really excellent. let's talk to the room, it's clean & good enough for a couple or family with child. somemore, it's seaview balcony. this is sure that i'll visit copthorne orchid hotel again when i visit to penang again. tq

We always stay at Copthorne Orchid when we visit Penang because it is on Tanjung Bungah, which is a convenient location for us. This time, we booked into a Superior room. Unfortunately, the bathroom fixtures were not satisfactory. So, we requested for a room change. This time, the fixtures were satisfactory. I always appreciate the sea view from the balcony.

Restful and Comfortable”

The bed was very comfortable, hotel location very convenient. Bus and/or taxi at the door if the time frame doesn't fit with the hotel's own complimentary shuttle service. Very friendly staff. Located far enough back from the road to have no traffic noise at all. No in-room free Wi-Fi though and we found that none of our Apple devices were able to connect to the .me, .mac or .cloud mail servers though Safari internet access was fine. A small matter though as a trip to one of the shopping plazas and a coffee at one of the many cafe's offering Wi-Fi solved that problem. Should be a quick fix by the hotel's IT people reviewing the firewall parameters. This was our second stay at the Copthorne Orchid and we will definitely stay again in a terrace junior suite.

I have a feeling this hotel is famous among the local and i've always heard from people that i should use the local famous hotels. This hotel was the best choice since i wanted a nice view to the beach. I got the lowerst deal from agoda and made a special request of high floor with a ocean view and they really gave me the highest floor with the best view i could have in that hotel. I stayed in the balcony more then i stayed in the room. Room service was very reasonable price and the service the staffs perform were outstanding. Since i work in a hotel as well i could say this was a 3star hotel with 5star service. 2km from night market and walking distance to many famous restaurants in Penang. Parking lot was huge had no problem and quiet surounding and always full with people at lobby which made me feel safe and welcomed.. Highly recommended in Penang.

It is a pleasure and relaxing stay in Copthorne Orchid Hotel (Penang). It is very fresh when first wake up in the morning and enjoy the welcome sea breeze while standing at the balcony. The scenery is very attractive as it is so near to the sea that is is unbearable to leave the room. I hope the hotel management can have a consider of the beach for extention as it is quite small. I believe if the beach is big, it will draw more tourists attraction as the hotel service has already won tourists hearts. :)

Classic & Cozy”

we have a great stay, large clean room.yeah no lcd tv, but the tv do have disney channel (which is important when you travel with young children and espn for epl (important for man like me even though all only 1 channel but for me it is sufficent coz better to stay home in kuala lumpur if you want to watch tv all the time. pool is great, small beautiful private beach which is lovely for a walk on the beach, not really suitable for swim since you can see the sign of 'beware of jellyfish' and my 4yrs old was stung by one and he is hurt very much, the staffs show me the clinic across the street, i go there were closed on sunday evening, walk back to hotel and ask some staffs there where other nearby clinic, and he drove me there seeing me carrying my boy, my deepest appreciation. doctor was sweet n relax, im not.worry n sad almost cry myself. 3 other was in the clinic room that time 1 teenage n 2 little boys was stung too. maybe jellyfish attack day on penang beach that day.thinking should cut short the holiday but my boy is strong, next day we go penang hill and continue our holidays as normal, thank god for that.(no more beach n pool for us temporary...haha...better to stay on the ground. this old hotel been there for around 20 years and is still to me one of the practical place to stay in penang coz of the locatian and price.we only stay there from 10pm onwards to sleep and out again next morning 10am to go around the penang. the best place to be unless you really want to spend your whole days & nights in the hotel surroundings. my stay there was great, the price from agoda is great. smooth check-in & check-out, our room is always clean up when we get back everyday.we ate outside all the time, so i dont know the food in there. we drive to gurney drive, batu feringhi to dine out, ehemm..mcd and kfc and burger king is is nearby too (if u drive).tesco to buy things u need if u can't find nearby u place.
