I'm telling it like it is, not biased at all.That place it's a dream. I really had a great time with hubby for our Valentines' get away. Clean, quiet and convenient. Loved the bed and the bedding not forgetting the towels.Next to everything.We got our money's worth. Thank you Coastlands Durban.

Me and my partner stay at Coastlands every year around June, so far we have had the best service and warm welcome. The staff are very helpful and friendly, attending to all our special requests without complaints. We will continue to stay here as it is easy access to all our needs.

COMPLAINTS AND DISAPPOINTMENT”

Greetings I trust that this email finds you in good health. It is with extreme disappointment and regret that I forward you this email. I booked for my stay at Durban Coastlands (Self Catering) from 4th December 2018 to 5th December. I express my disappointment and disgust with the services rendered to me. On arrival, I was informed that I had to pay a Fee of R60-00 for parking yet I had called the Hotel 2 weeks prior to the date of my stay and I was not told that guests have to pay for parking. Following that, I got to my Room on the 22nd Floor and I discovered that not only was the aircon not working but the plug was cut of the cable. When I tried to call reception from the telephone in the room, the phone did not even work. I had to use my personal phone and contact them. I left the room and got into the lift and went downstairs to fetch my luggage since I was told that maintenance was going to be sorting the aircon. On my return to the lifts, I entered and the lift close

All 4 beds in our room were worn-out. Reception was very awful or incompetent. ”

I booked with Agoda and completed my booking. When I got to the hotel at 1pm after a 7hour trip from Pretoria with my kids, I was told that my booking was not found not even to mention atleast the confirmation that Agoda had sent to me. It took my pushing and forcing them to recheck until when I was referred to the lady on 1st floor who receives the confirmation. I still had to fight my way calling Agoda support to try and resolve the problem. I could not get hold of the support staff at Agoda but when I went through the self service options, I discovered that my booking was still confirmed from Agoda's side. I had to do another booking and this was already at 2:30 pm after trying to fight the issue. My experience with Coastlands reception was very awful.

The hotel is located next to the beach, staff is friendly and helpfull. When we arrive we had a little problem concerning our room but the matter was resolved within an approperate time Thanks to the Receptionist by the name of Trevor. Enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is ok the costs are ok. The problem is when you step your feet outside the hotel building, either to go buy food n drinks or walking to nearby beaches. Thekwini is a nyaope drug infested town. You get robbed and stabbed even daylight. You walk scared of drugaddicts of thekwini. You have to always ride on meter taxis unnecessarily. Your town is so bad even the police are not effective. THEKWINI IS A NIGERIANS NYAOPE DRUGLORDS 'S DEN, THEY HAVE HUNDREDS OF LOCAL ZULU BOYS AS THEIR FOOT SOLDIERS WHO MUGGED INJURE N KILL PEOPLE FOR PHONES N CASH. I WAS MUGGED BY 18 NYAOPE ADDICTS AND WAS HELPED BY TWO WOMEN I WAS WITH RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR HOTEL DOOR. IF IT WAS NOT OF THE LADIES I WAS WITH THOSE BOYS WILL HAVE DRAGGED ME TO DARK STREET N MAYBE PROBABLY KILLED ME. MY PANTS WERE TORNED AND MY CARKEYS N CARDS TAKEN THOUGH YOUR SECURITY GET TWO BOYS WHO BROUGHT THE KEYS BACK, COASTLANDS HOTEL HAVE NO WARNINGS FOR NEW TENANTS ABOUT DANGERS OF WALKING AROUND ESPECIALLY AFTER 18H00.

Spacious room... but noisy area”

The rooms was spacious and clean. However only a kettle, 2 cups and 2 glasses, I'm not sure about how it is classified as self catering. As there was no facilities to make food. Most staff were friendly, there was some miss/no communication between receiption and the kitchen as the kitchen didnt know that we needed breakfast at 6. The worst of the stay was the taxis that was hooting almost non stop during the night, so sleep was very limited, even as high up as on the 23rd floor where we stayed.

The hotel is perfectly located next to the beach and many shops convenient and most close late, with just a minute walk to the beach. The only thing was my Queen bed request was NOT done, bt through enquiries it was fixed immediately then the other thing we didn’t have kitchen tap for water...unless if I booked incorrectly but the overall experience was great with friendly staff...I won’t mind to do it again 💃🏼👌🏾🏖🕺🏽

Improve on mantainance. When a room has been you must make it a point that remote controls are in order, phone are working. Secondly more irons must be supplied by the hotel. It is embarrassing for the big hotel as this one to have only four irons. It is also inconviencing to be asked to leave a deposit to get an iron.

They didn't give us rooms they showed online ”

The treatment that we had it wasn't nice, they showed us rooms with stoves and microwave but when we get there they gave us rooms without those things, our meet and crocery was rooten I was so disappointed, I will never go back to coastlands never I won't even advise a friend to go there

The hotel was nice, but they should consider have separated rooms in the family units, coz its really uncomfortable as we were two married couples and we had to all sleep in one open plan room, how do you get undressed, you cant even touch your partner coz everybody else is in here watching.. The room was nice and spacious, but considering the price we pay, they should really look into revamping the rooms or atleast maintenance, coz many things are old and rusted, like the tap was broken and shower. the aircon was not working it kept dripping water. otherwise I loved the place, would definitely consider going again..

Horrible check in experience . The Reception area is very stuffy you can hardly breath while seating there. The outside of the building needs some work. Windows are very dirty i wonder when they were last cleaned . On the bright side, the rooms are quite clean inside and are serviced everyday ! Their housekeeping team is on point . Otherwise Im never coming back there again

Check-in took very long. The staff questioned everything about the booking which I had made and even queried the rate I had paid and even indicated I would add some money. On check-out I had to wait for them to check if I had not stolen anything from the hotel.

The hotel was over crowed and noisy. They were school kids running all over the place. Our room only had 1 glass and 2 mugs but we were 4. We didn't have hot water to bath. Had to use the kettle to warm up the water. Windows were dirty. Bathroom light no working. Location of the hotel :(:(:(. you are even scared to walk out with your phone. had to Uber even to place you can walk too. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I just think the place need better house keeping. Weekends to avoid school trips as there are drunk adults all over the place and it was just scary as to see young kids being mixed with people like that.
