Great value hotel, given the location”

Location, Clean large room, reasonably priced

This is one of the few good hotels I found in Baguio that is within the city proper. The hotel location is just a few steps away from Session Road. The room looks modern, large, and clean, especially the bathroom. We got the Deluxe room, which has a 32 inch LCD tv. The room is not air conditioned though, like many hotels in Baguio. We were able to request an electric fan, although we hardly used it as the weather was cold during our stay. There is no refrigerator in the room, and the included toiletries consisted of two small soaps, a small shampoo, and a small conditioner. The bed is stiff but was not a big deal to us. The included buffet is great. Pros: - Reasonably priced - Great location, just a few steps away from Session road, Baguio Cathedral, and SM City Baguio - Large, clean, modern looking room with an LCD tv - Great breakfast buffet included with the room price - Spacious carpark - Friendly staff Cons: - Other than the tv, a side table, and a chair, the room is bare (not so much an issue for us) - The bed is stiff (not so much an issue for us though) - There is a bar at the penthouse that plays loud music until 12 midnight We still enjoyed the stay despite the cons as the pros were really important to us during the trip.

Enjoyed our stay at the Citylight Hotel”

Location, Room Size and Parking

We have read the previous reviews of Citylight Hotel and it seems that they have improved on their shortcomings. The room floors are now tiled, so cleanliness is not an issue anymore. I noticed that the stairs are still carpeted, but we never had to use it because we always ride the elevator to and from our room. Some previous guests complained about insects entering through their window but we never encountered this issue. I'm not sure if it's because it's not their season yet or if it is because the room they gave us was on the fifth floor. Nevertheless, our sleep was cool, pleasant and insect-free. We had to close the window during the night because it is already cold inside the room. One thing I liked most about the Citylight Rooms are its size. It's very huge considering its price, that it can even fit another queen size bed. It's perfect for families and big groups. Another thing I like is its location. It is far away from the traffic but, if you would like to visit nearby places like the Session Road, Burnham Park or the Public Market, it is best to do so on foot. It's a good way to take in the sights and sounds of Baguio while keeping your heart healthy :) I would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveler who is budget-conscious but does not like to compromise on convenience and quality.

The Right Choice”

Citylight Hotel is the right choice. Prime location for a reasonable price. It's a walking distance to some of the tourist spots in Baguio City Proper. Hotel looks great and clean. Would only like to comment that their restaurant (?) needs renovation as the color seems dead/faded. Also kudos to Kuya Guard that weekend for hailing the cab that eventually turned into our service for the rest of our stay in Baguio! =)

Splendid short break in Baguio ”

Buffet breakfast, fast room service, friendly staff

One of the biggest thing to consider when you go for a break- be it short or longer is the place to stay, if it will suffice your needs as a tourist. It was the best decision made for our first family break- to stay at Citylights Hotel, Baguio. With the hassle-free booking made thru Agoda, added bonus was the 20% discount at that time. The staff are very friendly with your requests and will try their best to cater to them, very helpful in giving points of interest, for example, where's the best to dine, and voila!we ended with stomach full, satisfied, and very happy ( would no doubt go back next time). The breakfast included in your stay is worth considering as it removes the hassle of thinking where to have it and if it's substantial, all these are met The best highlight of our stay was, when we forgot items from the hotel, the staff did their best to send it to us- free of charge! where else can you have that? but I guess that depends on the situation. To be able to thank them, I recommended the hotel to our friends back home.

Fantastic service,cheap & good food,great location”

Fantastic service, cheap & good food, great location, plus spacious rooms

My family & I've been staying at Citylight for 3 years already whenever we're in Baguio. - It's conveniently located near the top of Session Road, SM, and the Cathedral; maybe a 5-10 minute uphill walk (from the hotel). SM is a bit farther though, but still walking distance. - Cheap, good comfort food like pasta, burgers, and soup. Their buffets start at around 6.50 USD. - Great service: We had car troubles upon checking out and the hotel let us keep a room so my mom could wait and rest until the car was repaired in the afternoon. No extra charge. Friendly staff members are everywhere and are very accommodating. Not a luxury hotel, no in-room wifi and no air-conditioning, but there's wifi in the lobby and the rooms are spacious. Like their FB page and get a free drink. While they had no formal New Year countdown, they let guests go up to the penthouse to watch fireworks from all over the city. Will definitely stay there again this year.

Central Location, Friendly Staff, Great Buffet Breakfast”

Stayed at Citylight Hotel for about 19 nights. The Restaurant staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was mostly good. I like Sunday's spread best. It is particularly crowded during the weekend as people from other regions pop in over for the weekend for a visit. It is great that they have opened the Rooftop Bar to serve buffet breakfast to spread the crowd. I liked the location of this hotel - within walking distance to SM Mall and to Session Rd (the main shopping area). There is a laundry a short walk away at Mega Towers for P210 (full service - laundry powder & folding service) and we can forget about having to wash our dirty clothes. There is no aircon though for this hotel as Baguio is mostly cool except for perhaps May where the afternoons can be slightly warm. Overall, great hotel and friendly service.

LOCATION, Service, Friendliness, Affordability”

I travel to Baguio about twice a year for the last 5 years.. I had previously tried other hotels and overall, I prefer this hotel - staying here for about 15 days each time.. 1. LOCATION The hotel is within walking distance to Session Road, the main street of Baguio and to SM Mall. There is also a laundry with the same day service at Megatowers, located at the next street. For long term guests like me, the reasonable laundry service is important. 2. SERVICE & FRIENDLINESS From the Reception to the Restaurant staff - they all display warm and friendly service. 3. AFFORDABILITY The price for the accommodation is competitive. The restaurant charges reasonable price . So one can have a meal at the hotel without feeling the pinch when one needs a quick bite. Other Considerations: 1. The bells of Baguio Cathedral early in the morning may wake a light sleeper. 2. I wish there is a gym, which usually will only be available for hotels with higher rating. Overall - Excellent

Great Location and Clean”

Clean

my family and i spent our 2012 christmas holiday at citylight hotel baguio. we actually arrived baguio at around 5:30am and our check in time is at 2:00pm. we were so blessed that the hotel allowed us to check in our luggage so as not to waste our time waiting. we were able to start our stroll in baguio at 6:00am. the friendly staffs allowed us to get in our room earlier than check in time since the room is available already. comfort rooms are clean, bed sheets and the room itself. the one we enjoyed the most on our stay is the food they are serving during breakfast. lots of choices to choose from. having the chance to go to baguio again we will definitely stay in this hotel again suggestion: hope the hotel would add additional facilities like gym. and also to add more wifi units for strong internet connection! had poor connection on our room on the 5th floor.

Good Location!”

The hotel is within city center, just a few meters away from Baguio cathedral, SM and session road. They have a secured parking lot located in the basement. The buffet breakfast have limited variety of choices but enough to make you full. We got the basement room for 1500php since I have a value card from agoda, the price is just reasonable for the basement room. But if you’ll pay 2200php for this room, I think it is not much reasonable since the room doesnt even have electric kettle for coffee. Just hot shower and clean towels, some toiletries and TV, basic amenities. You’ll paying for the nice location of the hotel which is a good thing since Baguio traffic is getting worse at times.

nice modern hotel at the city center”

location, new modern hotel, clean rooms

The hotel is located in the city center which is walking distance to baguio cathedral, SM Baguio, and session road. The hotel has a parking space though limited. The breakfast buffet is good. The hotel staff are friendly. The rooms are clean and big. Only drawback is that they are strict with the head count during check-in... they do charge additional 350 pesos for excess of 2 persons for deluxe and superior rooms - max occupants is 2 eventhough the room is for 4 persons. Meaning - you will be charged additional P700/night for 4 persons in a room with 2 double beds for 4. Also, there is no aircon/fan inside the room though you don't need that in Baguio.

accessibility of the hotel, buffet breakfast, spacious room, view, customer service

Had stayed in Citylight for the third time already and I would say that I really enjoyed staying here every time I go to Baguio. The room is spacious, you can walk your way to Session Road, the cathedral, and even SM and Burnham Park :) The complimentary breakfast is really satisfying. Even if sometimes my hubby and I didn't get the chance to book in this hotel because they're already full, we always make sure to have our breakfast here for only P195/pax.

Excellent Location”

We stayed in Baguio from December 27 to December 30. We chose Citylight Hotel because of the location. I’ve been to Baguio many times and so far this hotel made me feel at home and comfortable. By walking, we went to places such as; the mall (SM), church, restaurants, and even to the wet market near by the Session Road. We saved a lot of money for the transportaion and the road traffic was never an issue for us because we can just walk. There are so many hotels in Baguio to choose from, depending on your itinerary and the purpose of your vacation. If you are a type of person who wants to be in the city, you may consider this hotel in your list.

Great location ”

Very near to majority of the "pasyalan"

The hotel has a great location. It is very near to places we would like to go. We only have to walk going to places like the Cathedral, Restaurants at the Session Road, SM, Market and the Burnham Park. Also a minute of driving to Rosebowl, Camp John Hay, Mile Hi Center, Mines View Park, etc. Next time that we will travel again to Baguio, we will be very glad to stay at Citylight Hotel although we encountered some problems. We stayed at Basement 3 and occupied 2 Superior rooms. The toiletries are not complete (there is shampoo, conditioner and soaps, but no toothbrushes and toothpaste). I also have to request for drinking water, hair dryer and electric fans, although the bellboy was very accommodating to provide us. The problem is that one of the guests near our room smokes and the smell of the cigarettes is so annoying. I asked the housekeeper that day if our floor is a smoking floor (Well, I read in their website that all floors in the hotel is a "NO SMOKING" floor and I did request for a "NO SMOKING" floor for us because I have kids with me and I am also allergic to any form of smoke.), and she said "NO" and asked her why I am smelling a very strong odor of smoke. She said someone is smoking in our area and then she added "HINDI NIYO NA NAMAN MAAAMOY KAPAG PUMASOK KAYO SA KUWARTO" - what a response! Also, we inquired through the Operator and Front desk information of the Cathedral's mass and they also have no idea. I think the staff should have broader knowledge in the areas where their guests would most likely go. They should have anticipated that most of the guests will inquire information about places, restaurants and other forms of entertainment available in Baguio.

Clean, spacious, no-frills”

Large, spacious room (a king-sized bed would even fit comfortably!), efficient and friendly staff, near to Session Road/central area

It was easy to book a room at Citylight via Agoda (we purchased the voucher about 5-6 hrs before checking in). We arrived late, nearly 6pm, and the staff quickly managed our check-in and quickly handled the Agoda voucher without fuss. Our Deluxe room (Unit 507) at the 5/F was surprisingly spacious. The double bed actually seemed 'small' relative to the room size, in fact it would've been better if they had installed a King-sized bed. You'll find basic toiletries in their rather spacious bathroom. As this is Baguio, do not expect the room to be airconditioned. One would hear the occasional rooster crowing from the neighbors nearby, and because it's located near a busy street, you will definitely hear car honks and rumbling jeepney engines. The buffet breakfast was ample and had a good assortment. On a Sunday morning, we found the restaurant full and a bit chaotic, lacking in order and cleanliness. Apparently, buffet breakfast is cheap , which attracts locals to dine there. I had the danggit (crispy fried dried fish) with scrambled eggs and garlic rice and it was tasty! The highlight of our stay was upon checkout, one staff was quick to alert us that we had left our Macbook under the bed (OMG). Overall a pleasant stay, if you're a no-frills person looking for a decent, comfortable place to stay near SM Baguio and the Cathedral.
