"Got more then what we expected. Stayed two night for Alpine Crossing, although didn't go for it due to bad weather, but the friendly owner and the stay make it worth it. Having see my country flag flying when we arrive at the motel is great. The owner's assistance and advice on our hiking trip is great too. The room is spacious and well equipped. Great Wifi, parking at the door step and a nice packet of milk is nice. Although we missed the hiking trip, but we take the opportunity to visit Lake Taupo, Taakanu thermal pool, nice Turangi Travern Fish and Chips and the Tongariro River Trail that the owner recommended. The trail is nice and refreshing. Would stay again when we are back for the Alpine crossing the next time."

"The lodge is a great place to stay. Skiing, fishing, biking and walking. You can walk to town which is small but has everything you might need. Restaurant had great meals and we ate there at night and some mornings but if you want a cheaper option then you can go to town. We tried the cafe and it was great for lunch and breakfast. Really need a car as transport to anywhere is not easy and walking at night not ideal. There is a local guy that acts as a taxi. Shuttle transfer from National Park Station to Turangi has been cancelled, no cheap way to get to Taupo for a day trip and cost us $200 to get from train to Lodge one way. "

"The rooms are clean, spacious and quite basic but offer good value for money. The restaurant provided excellent food and drink at a reasonable cost. We thoroughly enjoyed the prawn cocktail starter with a delicious lamb shank main course - the best we had in New Zealand. Thank you!!"

"It was my fault for not checking my booking online, but they charged me more than what was agreed through Agoda... I noticed several days later so decided not to dispute since the hospitality was great and the facilities clean and kempt with a great kitchen space. "
