Find Hotels in Parapat, Indonesia

We read earlier about hotels in Parapat and Samosir on the count of occupants. So we got ourselves 3 cottage rooms and everything was smooth. Each room was extraordinarily big; can fit in more people but that's ok considering the price was not high. The best part about this hotel is that all rooms would have view of the lake and Samosir; yes, even while you lay down in the bed. That made us wanted to stay longer instead of just one night. I used to come to Parapat 19 years ago and slept in Samosir. This time I slept in Parapat and I think that was a better choice for many reasons. The boat jetty is probably 5 minutes away.

we arrived a day too late because of the transport being late. nevertheless we had an astonishing friendly and warm welcome being the first european guests in one-and-half year! what a surprise since danau tobau is one of nearby hotspots of sumatra. our room was very nice, cool and clean. the bathroom needed some extra care. it looked like it had not been maintained well. the toilet kept running water. the shower was really nice anyway with warm water. this is not always available on sumatra but here it was! the hotel is quite far from the city centre. the hotel has a taxi service though. so when we needed to go to the atm the receptionist arranged a driver and colleague. really helpful people when the pass was stuck into the atm. the receptionist and general manager speak english very well. the remaining staff could use an extra course if the hotel wants to attract large groups of visitors from europe

We arrived as a group of 5 with young child, first as I get out of the car. the strong fish odor was in the air, then I noticed the hotel right behind of the fish market. I did not have any choice at that time, my hotel has been paid for.Then the supervisor Naldi sirait took us to the room, the hotel do not have elevator. I brought my disable father with me which having hard time to get in to the room. next Naldi show us the room with no air condition, I order 2 single room which I showed her the agoda voucher, she did not care. She said "we always having problem with agoda". I got upset and demand to have extra bed. We end up paying extra for extra bed, the hotel only have king bed, according to agoda there was few options. During night time, other guests smoking in front of my room with strong cigarette smell, I asked the supervisor to move us to different room due to I have respiratory problem and we brought small child. She did not care, despite my agoda voucher said non smoking room. She suggested to pay more on room downstairs which double to price of my room. I end up bagging other guest not to smoke close to my room, however we still smell the smoke in the middle of the night. This hotel do not deserved any star and the staff scamming us with extra charges for bed, despite it written on the voucher that we suppose to have 2 single beds and non smoking room. I am very disappointed during our stay in opriss hotel.
