Hotel Du Helder
3e arrondissement,Lyon - View on map
"The hotel is nicely located near to the University Lumiere Lyon 2 and other places of interest; one can reach the hole central town well by public transport which runs frequently. There are multiday tickets for the transport available. The breakfast in the hotel is very nice. The room prices are moderate. The staff is friendly and helpful. The infrastructure of the hotel (warm water, internet, ...) might be exhausted at peak hours, so it is good to get up early when one wants a warm morning shower. "

Radisson Blu Hotel, Lyon

"The hotel is the top half of the tallest building in the Lyons CBD, starting from level 40 - so amazing views. Otherwise a good/average business hotel. Large rooms, good facilities, uninspiring bar and restaurant - apart from the view of course!"

Hotel Campanile Lyon Centre Gare Part Dieu

"Nice hotel in the commercial area of Lyon. Room was small with a huge bathroom but overlooked the courtyard and was nice and quiet! You can walk to the centre of Lyon in 20 minutes, or take the metro to Bellecoure if that’s preferable."

Grand Hotel des Terreaux
1e arrondissement,Lyon - View on map
"An easy walk or electric scooter ride (if you haven't tried these, you're missing out!) to other parts of Lyon, especially Old Lyon. Grand Hotel des Terreaux is definitely one for those who prefer old world charm over generic modern hotel rooms - my wife loved it. The views are just of nearby buildings rather than any city panorama - but when you're in charming old town, there ain't nothing wrong with that. The young staff are lovely and helpful. There is an interesting indoor pool (and not many hotels have pools) that's been built in an old cellar through the breakfast area - though it's only very, very slightly heated - the adjoining jacuzzi is the same temperature as the pool - so more of a summer option than for spring when we visited."

Boscolo Lyon Hotel & Spa

"Perhaps a bit pricey for a stop over hotel, it’s unfortunate we didn’t have more time to enjoy the hotel. I would recommend staying at least two nights. From check in to check out the staff were friendly and accommodating. Beautiful pool, sports area small but nice. The rooms were large and very clean. "

Mercure Lyon Centre Saxe Lafayette Hotel
3e arrondissement,Lyon - View on map
"My friend and I had a lovely stay at the Mercure Lyon Grand Hotel Saxe Lafayette. We could not have asked for more. The staff (both in housekeeping and front office)were very helpful and friendly. One of the receptionists gave very good restaurant recommendations! All of which were brilliant suggestions!!!! Our room consisted of two double beds which were humongous! It was very spacious and the bathroom was nice and clean. I believe the rooms are have recently been renovated, and this certainly made our stay much more comfortable as everything felt brand new. This hotel was about a 15 minute walk to the Lyon town centre and tourist information centre (It was a nice stroll via the river) and also about a 10-15 minute walk to the Grand Lafayette shopping centre and main train station to Paris.Very convenient. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and I would not hesitate to book my stay in Lyon here again."

More about Lyon

The city of Lyon is one with a fascinating architectural, cultural, and gastronomic heritage. Founded by the Romans in a strategic location and having not suffered from a major natural disaster or a redesign, the city holds a mix of Roman ruins, Renaissance palaces, and contemporary skyscrapers. Travel to Lyon is facilitated by the Saint-Exupery Airport. Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit, especially with so much to explore outside.

Lyon’s city center is small enough to be covered on foot with many attractions within a reasonable walking distance from one another. If a stroll feels too slow, sightjogging tours can be arranged. Classic highlights that draw in visitors include the Fourviere basilica, streets and traboules in Old Lyon, and Musee Gadagne. There are a number of theaters providing entertainment within the city with a wide range of shows, including the 200-year old Guignol. Cinemas are also scattered about and worth paying homage to as this is where the cinema was born. Other than the sites, the food of Lyon is a major draw, and the bouchons are a worthy must-do to sample local dishes.
