Yaoji Hakata Hotel
Hakata,Fukuoka - View on map
"The location of the hotel is great. Hakata Station is only minutes by food away and so is the Hakata Canal City Mall. As per usual for Japan, there are plenty of convenient stores nearby. The hotel is very clean, I was very pleased. The room had a good size, the bed was comfortable and the staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good, highly recommended. The reception desk is on the 2nd floor, a little confusing when you first enter the building. I would have liked to use the spa, especially the onsen as it was free of charge but I was not allowed due to a tattoo in my back. Other than that, the stay was very nice."

Plaza Hotel Tenjin

"this hotel is located at daimyo which is walking distance to tenjin and also hakata. but we prefer to go to hakata by 100 yen bus though. :d. the front desk staff is very polite, friendly and even well versed in english. which is very helpful for us. the hotel is like a boutique hotel. their lobby is very stylish interior and they have a wide selection of interesting book at the shelf. the room is almost similar to other hotel in japan that i've been staying before. not very spacious but comfortable enough for our family. the room is very clean and tidy. they also provide free lan and wifi internet access. Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka

"Very friendly, English-speaking staff let us leave our baggage until check-in time (we were changing from another hotel) so we could go shopping. When we came back at 15:00 our bags were in our room waiting. The room was small (normal for Japan), but very comfortable. The bed was just right - could have done with more pillows, but I never requested any so I don't know if they are available. The bathroom was excellent, decor and comfort. It was very secure, access to the floors was only by elevator with your room card, and it automatically took you to the correct floor - no option to choose a different floor. I can only see this being a problem if you visit with friends and get rooms on different floors. The best point was location, right next to Tenjin and Daimyo, the best places in Fukuoka for shopping, eating and nightlife. I will definitely go back to this hotel."

Sunlife Hotel 2.3

"Convenient hotel. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed when I visited Japan for the first time back in 2017. Yup, not Toyko but Fukuoka. I was traveling Kokura this time but I thought I'd give Fukuoka a visit again. Very different scene as many development is taking place, very busy and crowded. Anyway, this hotel is convenient, just at the back, on the quiet side of Hakata station. Convenient when you are traveling around different places, esp. using the bullet train. There are many late dinning but 24 hours dinning are on the other side of the train station. Supermarket is nearby the station as well. I won't say it is a perfect hotel but is a hotel on a great location and practical. Don't expect the view though 'cos it is a brick wall. If you are traveling during winter, the air conditioning is central so can get quite warm, esp. if you are smokers. But during summer or autumn, air-condition is perfect from last experience. Give it a try if you travel to Fukuoka. "

The OneFive Terrace Fukuoka

"This hotel is a bit of a walk from the metro station but overall it was a decent area to be at. Right next to some real good eats. I recommend the bar "In Red" behind the 7 eleven. The street food stands pop up at night and some good sushi resturants right around the corners of the joint. I stayed in the 6th floor. TBH I couldnt find rooms for a good price in the area because of the sumo tournament and the Japanese holiday. Expensive but so worth it. Huge room. Did not expect the room to be so big for Japan. Paid bout 300 usd a night All in all this place is real nice but you're going to be walking a solid 15 minuets from the metro. I recommend this room for families with a child or if you just want to ball out"

"I will def stay here again if i visit fukuoka again. The room was small just like other Japanese hotels but it was so clean and the staffs were nice and good in English. I didnt get to have chance to have breakfast but they smelled good. The room were cleaned everyday and amenities were renewed everyday as well. I dont know if there were no people staying on the same floor, but it was so quiet during my stay. It was pleasant experience! "

More about Fukuoka

The modern and exciting city of Fukuoka is located on the island of Kyushu and is divided in two by the Hakata River, an area where many of the city’s hotels can be found. Fukuoka is considered an excellent introduction to Japan for first-time visitors thanks to its modest size and comprehensive rail network. Many visitors arrive via the bullet train, but Fukuoka Airport is still a popular gateway and is only two train stops from the city center.

The city’s culture can be visited with a trip to such sites as Dazaifu Tenman-gu Shrine and Shofukuji Temple. The island of Nokonoshima is set in the middle of Hakata Bay and is excellent for hiking, swimming, and camping. Tenjin is the largest shopping district in the city, and visitors can find towering retail blocks, large department stores, and boutique areas such as Tenjin Core. Dining opportunities are abundant, and ramen is certainly one of the most popular dishes, especially from the mobile food stalls.

Fukuoka is host to two major festivals each year – Hakata Gion Yamakasa and Hakata Dontaku. The festival of Yamakasa held in June and is defined by teams of men hoisting floats through set courses while wearing traditional loincloths. Dontaku, celebrated in May, sees stages erected for traditional performances and parades. Both these annual holidays have been celebrated for centuries and are an excellent peek into the local culture.
