The Victoria Hotel Dunedin

"Our stay at Victoria Hotel in Dunedin was as usual absolutley lovely. Very enjoyable, with the most obliging staff where nothing is a problem. When we go to Dunedin the Victoria Hotel is Always our prefered place to stay, as we know that it is always spotless, warm and very comfortable. The Victoria Hotel is situated very close to town and between two major supermarkets, so very convient! It is also a stones throw away from the hospital which makes it excellent if you have someone in there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Victoria Hotel to any of my friends. Thank You Victoria Hotel for making our stay a wonderful one. "

Fable Dunedin Hotel

"Excellent location. Well conserved and maintained building both in and outside. We booked in a superior twin for a family of 4. Spacious room with 2 queen's beds were enough to stay in feeling easy. Bathroom was clean. WiFi was strong. Breakfast was very good. I really love the elevator of Worldwar age that was still in good service. I really much appreciate this hotel and will definitely come back again if I have a chance to come to Dunedin again."

Alcala Motor Lodge Dunedin
North Dunedin,Dunedin - View on map
"everywhere i usually stay in dunedin was booked out and was therefore "forced" into seeking accommodation with a higher price tag than i usually do. given this, i then expected more than what i usually receive, and i was not at all disappointed. in fact, i would very definitely return again, despite a higher than normal (for me) tariff. speaking of tariff, however, do check very carefully what you are being actually charged against what the motel is offering. i found the agency through which i booked (on line), had misquoted the actual tariff by 50%, so i spent a great deal more than was expected. despite the expense, the motel is absolute value for money, particularly if you get an upstairs spa studio. when i first arrived, the roadside sign announced it as an “econo lodge”. having stayed in many of these while travelling in the united states, the room (which is actually a series of rooms) was very well furnished with a leather lounge suite (all recliners), very stylish table and chairs, mobile television set and queen size bed (amongst other items). adding to the unique atmosphere was a loft bedroom (a first (and wonderful) experience for me). the unit also had a balcony, as well as a separate bathroom and toilet. the bathroom (which is separated from the toilet has an enormous spa bath, from which you can soak and watch television at the same time. now that (for me anyway) is luxury. the guest information booklet is also very informative. there is a 24 hour general supplies shop right across the road, but dunedin’s main shopping centre is a mere 10 minutes’ walk away, where retail outlets and restaurants abound. it may take a great deal longer, therefore, than ten minutes to reach the city centre given the many diversions you are likely to make. "Place was great,BUT Agoda listing was very misleading. It told us that this was a self contained unit.and it wasn't .Luckily they were able to upgrade us to another uni which suited our needs..VERY DISSAPPOINTED WITH Agodas listing on this occasion, have used them before and been very happy. DUNEDIN HOLIDAY PARK WAS A GREAT FACILITY.Would definitely go back there to stay."

"Good. We staying in Dunedin to watch kids sports. Accommodation good and price reasonable. Location good as handy to octagon and night life. Staff very helpful. Facilities good. however and know this out of hotel's control outlook from windows not that flash. There are some surrounding buildings that need demolished, upgraded. That would be the only negative"

Leith Valley Holiday Park and Motels

"We stayed in one of the cabins, which was next to a stream. The site was compact but didn't feel overcrowded. We were surprised there was no shop there (we were given milk on arrival) but were provided with a map showing nearby supermarkets and restaurants. Dunedin was a 5-10 minute drive away. We especially enjoyed Otago Peninsular and the weekly farmers' market (Saturday mornings next to the railway station)."

Hotel St Clair

"We had a wonderful stay at St Clair. Only 10 mins drive from a busy Dunedin- market day etc. Had a sea view beautiful room. Sat and watched the surfers while sipping a glass of rose wine. Booked a table for dinner that night. Fabulous meal. If back in that part of New Zealand would stay there again. Next morning went to the Penguin Place on the peninsula. So worth the drive."

More about Dunedin

Affectionately known as the Edinburgh of the South, Dunedin is a university town located in the Otago region of South Island. The city is served by Dunedin Airport, which hosts domestic and international flights from neighboring cities as well as the rest of New Zealand.

Dunedin is home to the Royal Albatross Colony, which is the only albatross nesting place in the world. The journey to the colony is not an easy one, and travelers should take special care when driving there as the road trails along the Otago Peninsula, precariously balanced along the edge of the water without even so much as a guardrail. So the journey alone is quite an adventurous undertaking.

The early settlers of this land are an important part of the region’s culture and history, so a visit to the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum is imperative for those seeking a fairly comprehensive understanding of this part of the world. Dunedin is a beautiful city that’s often filled with an overwhelming natural beauty and an interesting city center, all of which is worth taking some time to explore.

There’s much more to see and do in Dunedin, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to explore where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
