Great Service”

My partner and I have stayed at the City Lodge Fourways twice in the last 5 months, the first time was last year as part of a course we attended in the fourways area and this year, after his bday celebration at monte casino. Both times we received great service, the breakfast is great and the atmosphere laying around the pool is calming. The second time we stayed, I accidentally left my phone in the room and it was given to the receptionist by the cleaner and I was immensely grateful. The only improvement I would recommend they look into is the fact that the hotel does not have an in-house shuttle service like most hotels do (which is complimentary within a certain radius), they outsource this function and the entrance to monte casino is directly across a circle from the hotel entrance and their taxi service charges R 30 to hotel guests, other than that I think we would visit again!

Excellent”

all was great loved it! one minus was a need for a shuttle over to Monte theatre ..especially for elderly and women on their own. A shuttle would be a great feather in Fourways City Lodge cap.

Central, clean and excellent service”

I had a very quick visit to Johannesburg. City Lodge was everything I needed. Very central, super clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'll visit again anytime.

Exceptional”

The hotel is perfect for business meetings. Rooms are bigger than other City Lodge Hotels. The facility of having THE CAFE for meals, drinks and coffee is really great. The boardrooms are good for presentations. Well done - enjoyed my stay there.

Nice enough, but expensive”

This was my first time staying in Johannesburg, so I'm not sure what the typical rate for a hotel room is. However, my friends have told me that staying at a serviced apartment is more cost effective. That said, the staff at City Lodge were excellent, even allowing me a late checkout of 2:30pm on my last day. The room I stayed in was a simple double room that was studio-sized. Be advised that there is no room service at this hotel. However, there are restaurants nearby that will deliver.

Convenient business and travel hotel ”

Not convenient if you mood to commute to Sandton, however if you work or leisure is that side of Johannesburg very convenient and a walk across the way to Monte Casino, which has many different restaurant options

Excellent”

Very friendly receptionists - UPS TO ALL--especially Thobeka Dlamini. She seamlessly & professionally handled my " issue" with AGODA. Only thing if you can enhance the street lighting leading to the small gate to/ from Montecasino. Thanks City Lodge I will be back in December & please keep those prices the way they are !!!

Good for a short stay!”

The hotel is very modern and clean. The staff were very helpful and even let me checkout at 3pm as my flight wasn't until late in the evening. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms if that's important to you. There are a number of restaurants within 100m of the hotel's front door and they will deliver to your room. This is good, because the hotel doesn't offer room service of any kind. There are some bars and shopping malls (and, of course, Montecasino) that are about a 10-20 minute walk away and they will satisfy most of your needs. I did find that I was bored of these places after just a few days, though. Additionally, with the size of the rooms, I can't give it a full 5 stars for value. However, I can't really say that there's anything 'wrong' with the hotel -- it's just a little too far from the chaos/fun that is Johannesburg.

Wonderful”

Having never stayed in a City Lodge before, our expectations were exceeded. My husband is a paraplegic and their room and bathroom were marvellous…….the standard and quality and cleanliness! Likewise the friendly and professional staff. We never ate there but all in all loved it.

Welcoming staff and peaceful stay”

Perfect if you need to be in the Fourways area. Was slightly dated although nothing that needed replacing desperately. A remodel in progress which will add to its visual AMBIANCE. Short but good stay.

Recommended”

We stayed at the hotel for one night to be close to the Teatro for a show. The room was excellent value for money and clean and comfortable, great breakfast and friendly staff. Parking is in an enclosed space with access control. The hotel facilities also deserve a mention - there is a well-equipped mini gym, pool and also meeting rooms.

The people are extremely friendly and helpful. I been travelling across various counties and hotels for the past 3 years and this was my best stay considering I stayed in 5 star hotels outside SA as well. I can only speak good things about my stay and the people must keep it up and make me a proud South African. Well Done to the teams who took great care of me for nearly 1 week.

Quick business trip”

I was very impressed by the size and style of the room for its price. I was only there for on night but would easily stay longer. It is conveniently located next restaurants and casino. They even have room service from four of the restaurants!

Top quality hotel ”

Excellent stay. Loved the breakfast and the takeaway breakfast in a hurry option. Room was lovely and bathroom immaculate. Right next to the Montecasino complex so didn't need to go into town for dinner. Ideal hotel.

Awesome place”

Clean, neat, walking distance to monte casino. friendly staff. i would like to suggest that water be kept in the rooms for the guest like all other 3 star hotels. :-)

Helpful Staff”

My sister accompanied on my trip to JHB and forgot her ID for the domestic flight. The staff at reception who always greeted us with a warm welcome, were happy to print out the documents that she needed, with no time to spare. In addition, the domestic cleaners were respectful whereby they asked what time they could come back to the room if it was in use, and they were nothing but friendly.

Bookings”

I would definitely recommend the Hotel, but certainly will not be using Agoda services ever again. Nor would I recommend Agoda to anyone. I had a slight change to my booking dates. I could not amend on the net, nor could I contact anyone in South Africa that could be of help. Apparently this company is off-shore. The hotel couldn't help me either, as it was booked with a 3rd party. It offered a local agents contact details, but it was a voicemail that kept looping back and forth. What a disaster! My guests were stranded. I was really embarrassed. Will never use you again, despite the attractive low rates you offer.

Convenience”

The location is excellent; just a short walk to Montecasino. Staff were extremely helpful and efficient. Free muffins and coffee to go in the morning were a good touch. One bizarre feature is that while the lobby and common areas are ultra modern the rooms are very dated.

Great stay as usual but ....”

I still don't understand how the hotel cannot afford to offer 1 complementary small bottle of water in the bedrooms when they have a budget for muffins and cakes at reception that everybody grabs by twos and threes ,including the staff and the drivers coming to pick up customers.
