Great location, good service, great breakfast”

City Lodge Hotel is very well located - just a short walk from the OR Tambo International Airport Johannesburg terminal. Friendly, efficient staff, nice room, and a wonderful buffet breakfast. I will stay there again if I am transiting through Joburg.

A smart choice”

I could've found a cheaper hotel in Johannesburg, but then I'd have needed to pay for a cab out to Oliver Tambo. Excellent to be able to walk to the check-in desk without having to wait for a shuttle or without having to try to forecast traffic jams. Also liked the fact that I could do last minute gift and snack shopping in the airport mall. I didn't use the hotel restaurant (breakfast in the Mugg and Bean with a view in the Transit lounge instead). The one thing the room lacked was a fridge., but the reception desk girls put my stuff in the kitchen fridge.

The Best Choice at OR Tambo”

In respect of price, this was our best option at the OR Tambo International Airport. Adding the splendid service by their staff, overall quality and cleanliness of the facilities and the value for money, this hotel deserves a full score.

Great Stopover”

Stayed over for the night on my way to Kruger. Great location at the airport comfortable rooms and very good service. I can recommend this hotel if you have connecting flights or need a good hotel to stay in at Tambo International.

Home away from home”

City Lodge is in walking distance from the airport (OR Johannesburg). It is better to do an online booking than at the reception as its cheaper online. Just one complaint - not enough people at reception to help with the book-in process, at times it is quite tedious. Other than that I am quite happy with the location, value for money, cleanliness, staff and the facilities.

Well positioned ”

Well positioned for an early flight out of OR Tambo International in the mornings. Within walking distance of the airport so no hired car needed. Restaurant on the premises provides a good meal.

Convenient and comfortable.”

A walk within the OR Tambo airport and you enter directly into hotel. No taxis or shuttle service needed. Super friendly and efficient staff. Would definitely recommend 👍🏻😁

Good hotel but very slow at check in”

I have stayed at many City, Town and Road Lodges. This was my second time at OR Tambo and on both occasions the check-in was hopelessly slow, not caused by large numbers of quests arriving together.

Convenience and comfort at a/port in Johannesburg”

Very comfortable. The breakfasts are really good. The rooms very comfortable, clean and secure. It serves those needing an airport stop-over very well. The signage needs improvement: the pickup/drop-off area (at "B2") is not signed visibly enough; and the route from International Arrivals to hotel reception is well signed for those using escalators, but VERY POOR for elevators (ie wheeling luggage trolley). This is an airport matter, but can be improved by the City Hotel in conjunction with airport management.

Convenient after long flight”

Great for passengers passing through OR Tambo airport or if you have a long drive home after a long flight. Our third stay there and it is always what we expect.

Best ”

This was my first time using a hotel as accommodation for my travels. I must say I did not regret my decision. The staff at City Lodge was friendly and very helpful. Despite where the hotel is located, it was surprisingly quiet. I was even able to have meditated in peace. I was kind of sad that I could be able to stay longer due to the nature of my trip this time around but I will definitely use City Lodge again for my next trip (and hopefully be able to stay longer)

Ideal in combination with flights to/from OR Tambo. Terminal close by in walking distance and also directly at the Gautrain station.

Immediately outside the airport”

We arrived and used google to find the hotel; it only offered the City Lodge that was a few km away so we took an Uber there. The staff kindly shifted our booking from the one at the airport and sent us back by shuttle in the morning for our early flight. The room was clean and bathroom where we stayed was huge. AC was a huge plus. Comfortable beds.

Exceptional”

The overall stay was good. The room wasn't big, but it was enough for two people with not many luggages. However, the toilet was relatively large. There were all kinds of amenities, the view from the window was also great too. The location was absolutely perfect as the hotel was located near to the JNB airport, which required only ~10mins to walk. One possible disadvantage is that the hotel only has three levels occupying a large area, so each level accomodates many rooms. It took me ~3mins to walk from the lift to my own room, so if your room is located at the end of the ail, it may take you ~7mins. And you cannot see the surrounding environment from a high height. But it in fact is not a big problem. There are two reasons why i gave a lower rating to staff. First of all, the staff wasn't too polite when i checked in. She kind of yelled at me for my passport with a rude tone. What had pissed me off more was the staff in the hotel restaurant. 45mins after we ordered, the food still had not yet arrived. We noticed that the staff who served us was in the resting room, and other staff was chit-chatting. At last, we got our food after an hour, with the staff not admitting that we had waited for an hour that much. This might be understandable, but i don't think these should be the services provided. Anyway, i will recommend to hotel to others, but you may just need to eat outside.

All good and convenient for any stop-over in Johannesburg. Restaurant/bar and rooms with the usual amenities. Great location within the airport building - no transfers, taxis or anything. Fast check-in and check-out service. Cheap. All good.

Good value for money”

We had an overnight stop in Johannesburg, with an early morning flight the next day. This hotel is attached to the airport, albeit a 10 minute walk from the terminals, so is very convenient. Check-in was slick, and the room was adequate. There is a restaurant, or you could go to the terminal for a bigger choice of eating places. Good value for money, although our final room bill was more than advertised by Agoda.

Ideally located to catch a flight the next day”

We had to fly to Kruger national park a day after arriving at Jberg and City Lodge Airport Hotel suited us plain and simple as it inside the airport. The place is clean and has all the basic amenities to allow the night to pass comfortably. One can also spend time in the airport mall whilst staying at the City Lodge primarily because its a five minute walk in the same building

A perfect stopover ”

The hotel is so easy to access - which after a long flight is really valuable - and .... knowing exactly how long it will take you to get to the airport (as you simply walk there )- reduces the stress of getting to the airport on time for a flight. The staff are friendly and helpful and all the facilities are good. This is my number 1 choice for stop overs in Johannesburg

Always stay at this hotel during business trips and also for overnight stays when travelling overseas on an early morning flight. hotel ideally placed at the airport and is near a lot of food outlets both at the airport and within easy reach nearby. I would recommend hotel management improve the shower doors so that water does not constantly leak out of the shower and mess the floor - have to use other towels to mop up and eventually more cleaning and not eco friendly. And for the price for the hotel, they should also provide complimentary bottled water for consumption.

I think that with people coming in and out of an International Airport, by being a Hotel on the premises just about, should service you more in-depth food service, this isn't a complaint only an observation, as I have also stayed at the InterContinental and they provided full menu all night service.
