Cititel hotel -- Value for money & Good Location!”

Hotel location is good, hence, making it easy to explore GeorgeTown World Heritage site by foot. Cheong Fatt Tze mansion is the nearest place of interest to the hotel. Guided tour at this mansion is available at 11am and 3pm. Should go for the guided tour, very informative and interesting. Taxi ride to the famous Gurney drive hawker food takes about 10 mins and it cost ringit 15. A standard pricing. And Gurney Plaza is beside the street hawkers. Good place to shop. They have international brands such as Nike, Adidas, TopShop, Faceshop & etc..... Taxi ride from Penang International airport to Cititel hotel takes about 30 mins and cost ringgit 42 dollars. Again, standard pricing. There is one shop selling very good Penang famous tao sar pheng. The shop name is : Him Heang. Located at: 162-A, Jalan Burmah. To get there by foot, probably, about 30 mins. If by taxi, probably 10 mins. And we have walked from CitiTel to Komtar.

Cititel is a comfortable hotel ”

location. cititel is located in a strategic area, near from markets, cafe, food courts/ restaurant so made us easy to get there on foot or bus. officers. cititel's officers are very friendly, helpful & informative. it was our first time to visit penang & of course we knew nothing about penang but when we checked in, the officer explained to us all information we needed such as restaurants, attractions & shopping centers, also informed us how to get there by showing us the map. room. the room is clean & comfortable, it was cleaned up when we were out. building. the hotel building is modern. service. over all service is very nice, the officers repect our privacy, served us & answered us friendly. if i come & visit penang again. room rate. cititel room rate is reachable. i'll choose cititel or recommend cititel to others. we were satisfied staying there. thanks.

Great location in Georgetown”

Walking distance towards everywhere. Georgetown is the spot if you are a food lover. With walking distance from Cititel hotel to the food places, and to many tourist locations (like Blue Mansion) or just a bus ride to Penang Hill or Kek Lok Si, you do not need to take the expensive taxi (which is never metered). Or you can just walk to the revolving restaurant at Bayview hotel. If you like the pub scene, there is a a good spot at the end of Penang Road. The hotel room is a sanctuary for a good rest after a long day of visiting all the tourist locations.

Great Hotel with Equally Great Sevice!”

I visted Penang often and have experienced staying at various hotels in Penang. So Far my preference is still Cititel Hotel which is very friendly and efficient. The check-in and checkout were hassle free (cannot recall the front desk staff names)and better still the greetings and smiles made me felt very welcome ... I love the car park located on Level 2 & 3. I can access the Lobby Lift and go straight up to my room (via choice of 4 very fast Lifts). Oh yes the Dragon, constructed using recycled mineral water plastic bottle is still being displayed in the Lobby. Great for photos!

This is the best hotel ever”

This is the BEST hotel ever in Penang. I made a special request for my husband's birthday. I requested some welcoming card/flower petals/cake but management of hotel really did it beyond my expectations. It was so awesome! And my husband really really like it especially the room deco & sparkling water. The location of the hotel made our holiday convinience since it near to food market etc. It just walking distance from hotel to town. Save time & money for car petrol! Definitely I will choose Cititel Penang again for next visit to Penang. Many thanks to Agoda & especially to Cititel Penang! Thumbs up!

Overall, this is a good hotel that I would recommend to my friends and relatives for few main reasons: 1. Centrally located to local food and history places. Well, there are other nearby hotel that is centrally located but see my other points below. 2. Good receptions staff - when I called them thru my room phone, they response well and they know my name - which I personally think is part of a great hotel service. 3. Just outside the hotel, there is a bus stop for you to take on the free RapidPenang bus that will bring you around heritage and local foods area. 4. I paid almost half the price for this room but with better services and quality room than Bayview Batu Ferringhi Resort hotel. I'm not saying Bayview is not nice, it is just as a comparison for this review. FYI, me and my family spend 3D2N in Penang this round and our first night was with Cititel and the second night was at Bayview Batu Ferringhi Resort hotel. Things that can be improve: 1. Aircond - we stayed in room 10xx and both the rooms that we took - the aircond is not cold enough. Well, is cold, and maybe to the hot weather in recent week cause it to be less cold. 2. Car park - the car park is quite limited as they allow outsider to park inside. Outsider as in 'non-hotel-customer'. Luckily during our stay here, it was quite ok. Anyway, after 5pm, I didn't drive out for food/outing event. We just had our simple dinner across the road by walking. All I sharing here it, the car park could be a problem during peak period such as during school holiday.

great presentable hotel with excellant location”

On our way back to Singapore from kedah, we decided to stay in Penang for a short holiday. We decided to book cititel because of the location and later found out that it is better than what we expected. We were impressed by the hotel staffs and the standard room, though it is a bit small but perfect for 2 of us. The hotel staffs incharged of transport also very helpful and honest. This is a big plus for tourist and they seem know what they expected. They have private hotel taxi for rent. They charge RM30 per hr which is fair. They are many trishaw outside the hotel too which charge also RM30 per hr. It is very good for streed ride to visit downtown attraction especially for those who do not enjoy walking. Street taxi however is still very bad. They still practise bargaining fares like 20 yrs ago, never improve. Prices of hawker food already gone up but mostly still reasonable.

Great location, Great facilities”

we loved staying at the cititel. yes, it's a corporate type hotel pitched at the business traveller, yet on our honeymoon we still found the hotel perfect for our needs. we had a room near the top with great 180 degree views of the city out across to penang bridge. our room was very clean and modern looking with an excellent air con system and modern appliances. the breakfast buffet is probably the best we had in malaysia, catering for continental, malay, japanese, indian and chinese tastes. we loved also having shop great restaurants downstairs, good cocktail list at the bar with pleasant staff, and very professional check in staff. sure, the citiel has none of that penang colonial charm but, hey, when you've explored the city on foot and are tired and covered in sweat all you want is a great, clean, cool room with a view to unwind and relax.

Smart well located hotel that's great value”

The Cititel is a very good choice for a stay in Penang. It is located within easy walking distance of the old town areas of Georgetown with Chinatown, Little India and the seafront within a few minutes walk. Rooms are well equipped immaculately clean and a good size. The hotel has many other facilites including gym, pool, shops and restaurants. Smoking is allowed in some areas of the hotel including the restaurant which we weren't that happy with.

Great Location and Value for $”

I had a good time staying in Cititel Penang. Its cosy ambience and clean room left me a good impression. The hotel staff were polite and warm towards my enquiries. The hotel is also well-situated within the city area. There are loads of good food available within walking distance from the hotel. The only unpleasant incident I encountered was when my friend and I went to level 3, Health Centre to ask about the massage services offered there. We were coldly treated by a middle aged chinese lady whose body language and voice tone suggested to us that we were not welcome there. After much thinking, I reckoned that perhaps the massage service was only open to male customers. This is fair but I personally feel that if thats such a case, it should be indicated in the directory present in our hotel room. Afterall, that was how we found out about the health centre. Apart from the incident, I am largely impressed with the main hotel staff and delicious food I had in the hotel, namely vegeterian bee hoon ordered via room service and midnight porridge buffet in the Cititel Cafe.

Lovely Hotel with Wonderful Staff”

From the time we reached the hotel till we check out it was filled with excellence, excellence, excellence. Staffs were always smiling and friendly. Very helpful. Bellboy, Security Officer, Reception Staff, Room Service Staff,Housekeeping Staff, Hotel Cafe Staff were all great and efficient always willing to help. We cant even find anything to complain about. We went to celebrate our anniversary and the room deco they hotel did for our room was beautiful it really surprised us.Breakfast was superb with many different kind of varirites. Room Service was fast and food was delicious. The hotel is very centralised to all areas in penang. They is a bus stop just outside the hotel that goes to many all the places in Penang. There is a shuttle bus that goes round any area of georgetown where the hotel is located. Many food area outside the hotel.I would strongly recommened thid hotel to anyone going to hotel.

The Duty manager , the staff and their operation team did a good role in their service. Service will excellence whenever i need help with enquiries such as where to purchase (SIM data card), where is the nearest place to go for a good food hunt. Duty manager (Suzana) *hope i didnt spell wrong* provide fantastic service from the moment when i check- in to check- out, Cititel Hotel Penang have taken care of well-being. Not to forget they provide delicious hotel breakfast as well where there is different varieties food being serve. Will be back for this hotel again :)

Great location and clean room”

Penang is really a true food paradise island with the old fashioned, unique and relax atmosphere. I really enjoy my stay here and I also have chosen the right hotel to stay in. Cititel hotel is located in the city and nearby my boyfriend bistro, so it is so comfortable for me. Cititel hotel also good in cleanliness and their staff are friendly and so welcome. I will come again to Penang soon and will explore more areas there.

The Cititel Hotel in Penang very clean, comfort, have friendly staff, and situated in downtown Georgetown, so You can go anywhere in minutes. The Boulevard Hotel in KL also have great service, located next to Megamall midvalley so you can get more and more exicetement of shopping experience..Great hotel..

Cititel Stay”

My Stay at the Cititel Penang was pleasant although there was a few minors problems on the way. First was the cleaness and the warmth of the reception staff, second was the great customer service they had offered, the location of the hotel is a must for any traveler wanting to explore GeorgeTown by foot. The only negative I could find with this hotel is that most of the facilities are quite old. Beside that the hotel rates are excellent.

Nice 4 Day 3 Nights stay in Cititel”

This is my first stay in Cititel Hotel Penang. My friend had introduced this hotel to me previously as she has always been staying there everytime she goes. I must say i am very pleased with how the hotel is operated. Service staff and concierge staff were good. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Even the corridors smells great. Best part is the location which is near the "red garden" for food and just 10-20 mins drive/walk to shopping malls. 24hrs food and good massage around the corner.

Amazing Hotel View”

We Stayed in 1110, it was a last minute upgrade decision that was proposed by the counter staff.Good thing that we did. The view we had was panoramic , picture perfect sea view, and partial view on the rustic old Georgetown. Its walking distance to the famous chendol stall behind Kimberly St, and the Famous Line Clear Nasi Kandar Mamak is just around the corner (Beware, they rip customer off if you order in english, please, if you can order in malay.I got ripped off when the staff charged me RM23 for a plate of rice,one fried chicken and a tiger prawn.) I've been to Penang many times but im glad that i've stayed in Cititel and definitely i'll be back for more.

Great service with good leader ”

I would like to compliment the Front office manager (not too sure about his latest position but i know his name is Soon Hock), who has been very attentive and provide his very good service this few years. With his great leadership, I had seen Cititel Penang improved to a better level this few years. I’m a heavy traveller that stay in hotel more than my house.. i felt it would be good for me to let the management of.cititel to acknowledge this great leadership. You can’t believe that I was making a complain to this gentleman many years ago when I believe he was a front office staff during that time. I would have move to another hotel if it’s nit him being so warmth and of course the front office staffs in. Cititel that always being so warmth.

Cititel - a good central place to stay in Georgeto”

Cititel was a good comfortable place to stay in Georgetown, Penang. Room was very clean and luxurious, views were excellent. We simply walked to the Jaya restaurant opposite the hotel for some tasty Indian and local food for our meals. We also did a walking tour of the colonial georgetown in 1.5 hrs.
