Find Bungalows in Ranong Province, Thailand

I stayed in a newer wooden bungalow that was immaculate, clean and comfortable. The owner is wonderfully helpful, attentive and friendly. It's location is towards one end of the beach whereas the central area is more lively at night. The owner is wonderfully helpful, attentive and friendly. It's location is towards one end of the beach whereas the central area is more lively at night. But this was good both because Frog Beach feels more secluded; and also because walking the beach at night to get to a restaurant is part of the magic of place. The water is shallow (very safe for small kids) the tide goes out a long way leaving a huge swathe of sand shimmering in the moonlight. Electricity is supplied by solar plus generator and was never a problem, though slow to charge mobiles etc. Wifi was very good for some of the time, poor on a few days - I think the whole island shares these problems, but that's why you are there, because it is still relatively undeveloped.

We needed some peace and quiet after two weeks in Hong Kong and Taipei and this resort was perfect. It took a lot of effort to get here - totally worth it! Kae, the manager was lovely, the bungalows were very simple but very decent quality and the view from them is spectacular. Three days of tranquility, friendliness, no cars and the sound of the sea. If you're looking for a cheap, but fine bungalow to stay, Little Hut might be a good option. However it's definitely not a 3-star place as they claim themselves to be :) Pros: Location (2 mins walking to the beach, close to lots of cafes, and in general Aow Yay beach is probably one of the best place to stay on the island), simple but nice-looking, fine bed and mosqu...If you're looking for a cheap, but fine bungalow to stay, Little Hut might be a good option. Minor cons: Expensive food in the place itself (however you may find cheaper food nearby), no cleaning during our stay for 4 days (which is not a big deal, since it's a bungalow, not a hotel), you may hear all your neighbors' private life even their bungalow is 50 meters away, no safe box in the bungalow (but we haven't encountered any problems because of that), wifi is extremely slow (so I couldn't even open gmail) There might be similar options for a slightly lower price, but you should search for it on the spot...

On our first night there Jay organized a barbecue for all the guests so we all ate together, drank some beer, chilled and talked by the pool. It was really fun! The annual Loi Krathong festival happend to be held on the second night of our stay at Koh Phayam so we all went together to the pier to watch the full moon and few of us sent a kràthong in the waterways. After that we all went together to eat dinner at a local restaurant. Our stay was amazing and I would definitely recommend this place!

For budget accommodations, a lot is included. They will pick you up at the pier, wash your laundry (not hang or dry) and there is a cafe on site with decent food and drinks. The rooms are tiny, only bring a backpack because there is no room for luggage. Or you could leave your luggage on the porch of the bungalow. The bungalows are very rustic, with a better than average bathroom. No hot water and the electricity go out every night around 3am. This means the fan stops working and it's stifling in the room until the electricity comes back on 4-6 hours later. Hard to sleep without the fan because it is so hot. Family run, the staff is really hard working, although a little understaffed. They speak minimal English. Coffee and Resort is about a 10-15 minute motorbike ride from the Long Beach and the roads aren't great for walking. If I could do it all over again, I would stay on the beach instead of at Coffee and Resort.

The only 2 things that arguably make this place worth the money are that they have A/C and that you don’t need a mosquito net. Other than that, everything else was a bit uneven. You get a sense that they were trying their best, but lack of professionalism lets down their effort a bit. Breakfast was okay, but minimal and forgettable. We paid for the most expensive bungalow, the front one, but it turns out that that was for nothing because the resort chose to put dining tables right in front of our room, so it was loud, crowded, and smelled of food and smoke most of the day. The biggest problem we had was that there seemed to be a problem with the water. It was yellowish most of the time, and smelled of rust and dirt. They tried to fix the problem, but it was persistent. If you’re open to roughing it a bit more (fan instead of A/C and a mosquito net), the place next door (Vijitr Resort) is heads and shoulders above this place in terms of service, atmosphere, and food. They usually fill up early for Songkran, so we were forced to book with MP. That said, because this is our preferred beach, we still had a good time nonetheless.
