We stayed one night in the mountain view room in Bromo Terrace for our visit to Bromo Volcano. The room was very clean and the view was spectacular from our room. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. We had our lunch, dinner and breakfast in the hotel cafe which was really convenient and food quality was overall good. We even had complimentary tea and cakes for tea time. The other plus point for this hotel was that they were able to arrange for the bromo volcano tours for us at a reasonable price. Would certainly come back for another weekend getaway. VK

With this review, actually it is my second time to Cemara Indah Hotel. My first visit is at 2011 and my second visit is at December 2017. The best of all is the hotel's location exactly at the edge of the cliff of Bromo's outer crater. Upon arrival up to leaving the hotel we are pleased by beautiful scene of Bromo and surrounds just after we leave our room...exactly once we leave our room!!! For the price, hotel's services are considered excellent. Once decide to go to this hotel, be prepared with cold weather clothing, prepare cash money for your traveling surround of Bromo (prepare at least 1 million rupiah) and manage your personal medication. My family still love to come in future on this hotel and it became our favorite destination during vacation.

We booked two 2-bedroom villas and were given next to each other. The villas were quite small but cleanliness was tiptop. The beds were really comfy with pretty sheets and fluffy pillows. Even the sofabed in the living was comfortable with 3 nice throw cushions. We also requested for extra towels which was immediately attended to. Wifi was also available in every villa. And the breakfast, which was nasi goreng, that was sent to our room just before we checked out was superb with no taste of MSG at all. The only downside I would say is the location. It took almost an hour to reach the entrance of Bromo Tengger National Park. If you don't mind the ride, you may want to consider this place for your trip to Mount Bromo.

Hard to get a good accommodation for a fair price in Cemoro Lawang as everything is overpriced there. The guesthouse is listed in several name on Agoda for different prices... so I’m not sure we could say we got what we paid for. The room was cold and humid. Fine enough to stay before enjoying sunrise on Bromo. Hot water in the common bathroom. The power was off one night but they ran the generator on so we could get a shower.

I stayed there for only one night with 2 friends to do the sunrise of Mt Penajakan and the crater of Mt Bromo. We had pick up from Surabaya airport. The lady of the homestay arranged the trip so that we can have a Jeep to pick us up and do the tour. We had a really pleasant time at the homestay, food was really really nice (for small extra fee) and the view from the terrace is quite impressive. The lady was very comfortable and very kind, she showed us the little farms around. The homestay is on the mountain so there's really nothing around but it's a great reason to just relax and enjoy the nature. Definitely recommend this place for the location, the price and the friendly welcoming !

We stayed one night in Cahyo Homestay. It is a small family-owned hotel in best location in Cemorolawang. Before we booked this hotel, we considered to stay some miles away from Cemorolawang. But in the end it was a good decision to stay in this hotel. You can directly walk to Bromo (ca. 30 min) or to the sunset view points (ca. 1,5 h) from the hotel, no need to do any tour. In the evening we had diner in the restaurant of the Java Lodge hotel which is next to Cahyo homestay. It was delicious and prices were very good.

Worst place I ever stayed at. We reached out the day before to know if they provided shuttle from probolinggo to the homestay. ..no answer. The day after no one was there when we arrived. After 30min we decided to text. We discussed with the men who opened the door and negociated with him a car at 3am to go to cemoro lawang he never showed up and never reached out or came back to us to apologize. Positives points are a good wi-fi and hot shower.

its a basic backpackers hotel, the rooms are not heated (it's cold at night at this altitude), and the bathroom consists of a very low pressure shower plus a cup and bucket to shower, and toilet. Its clean, but bring flip flops to shower as the floor is freezing. It's about a 2km walk to the bromo ticket office, which is misleading. On closer inspection there are two entries on Google maps for this hotel - it's not the one close to the base of the volcano! The staff were kind and helpful, but not very informed - they couldn't give clear directions from the hotel to the bromo ticket office, despite using Google maps or the local map. There were also no take-away maps to hand out. The food was also very basic, but we didn't expect much. Beware, you should arrange return transport from this hotel before arriving, since the public bus is not regular or reliable. We ended up (luckily) joining a minibus tour group since they had some empty spaces.

This hostel is not the most clean or up to date but the location is good, close to the base of the mountain so you can easily walk to Bromo. The staff was really friendly and helpful and took the time to understand me, which is one of the most important things for me. They do not provide airport transfer as listed on agoda. They helped me arrange a taxi eventually but it seems they don’t do it often. I also did not have WiFi in my room for most of my stay, but the signal is strong close to the lobby. It is also a little noisy as there are is some woodwork detail around the door that is actually open to the outside.

We arrived there when it was already dark and had booked Yog Bromo Homestay already online before, which was handy that we didn't have to look for a place in the dark. We had booked a 8bed apartment. It was very simple but for a short stay there sufficient. We did not get a key for the apartment but there was only a lock for each room - which was ok. The beds were comfortable and the blankets were quite warm. Shower was warm, too, which was a nice surprise. However the fuse dropped out when we used the hair dryer, so better do not wash your hair there. We had to flush the toilet by rise with a bucket of water. You see, all very simple but manageable for one night. Got up at 2.30 to start walking to the viewpoint at 3am. Great location, right next to the road we had to walk. Also great for walk to Mt. Bromo, what we did after breakfast. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel Cemara Indah, right next door, where we also borrowed warm jackets and got free wifi. Some of us also got free wifi at Yog Bromo homestay. This depends probably on your phone. When we left, the guy from the Homestay organised us a minibus - the bus stop is also only a few metres away - and negotiated the price for us. Once in a lifetime experience and Yog Bromo Homestay is a great place to stay in when visiting Mt. Bromo.

I'm happy to give Sukapura Permai a decent review as I feel it is a decent hotel. It's a lot bigger than I had expected but that's not a real issue. Just be sure to get a room at the far end as we got the one just behind the reception (#201) and it was really noisy (engine noise from the road and parking nearby, people walking and talking...). The beds are quite clean (a bug or spider here or there but nothing dramatic on Indonesian standards), from what I have read and heard about accommodation around mount Bromo I think this is not a bad quality/price ratio. It is not an unforgettable hotel but it does the job. Hot water available, except when all the groups of tourists are coming back from the dusty mountain and all want to take a shower at the same time. Beware of scammers down the road in Probolinggo who will sell you packages at double or triple the usual price. In Sukapura I walked a few meters down the road from this hotel and found Mari and his family who offered to take us to visit the volcano the next morning. Reliable, cheap and nice, I'm happy to give my money to a local directly rather than spend more in a tourism agency... Beware, except 1 supermarket and a few local makan houses there is literally nothing to do in Sukapura (which could be a good or bad thing, depending on what you are looking for). WiFi slow but totally acceptable. Nice staff, helpful with pretty good English skills. Overall, decent, far from spectacular, just OK. An extra blanket at night won't be too much as it does get really chilly.

We stayed in a room with private bathroom. It had a basic level of cleanliness, e.g. the bedding, though old and stained, seemed to have been washed. And the staff was fairly helpful. The location was very near Bromo, and therefore excellent. But the room was dreary, and so basic that it was uncomfortable. There was no sink, soap, toilet paper, mirror, towel, heat (and it is cold there)... Nothing at all besides a bed and a chair. It had fewer amenities than a campground. The bathroom also gave off a strong sulphur/mildew odor that permeated the room. Other rooms were open so we checked them, the bathrooms all smelled. And all this for a price that would get you near-luxury accommodation in the city.
