"arriving from sydney, australia, on the night of 05 november/12 my plan was to rest overnight and take a high speed ferry to vung tau at my liesure. the ferry terminal was just a ten minute walk from the saigon port hotel. the online description, photos and tariff offered were reasonably compelling. as soon as my taxi pulled up at this hotel, the billboards at the reception area loudly promoted "massage 7th floor." after checking in and receiving my key, i took the elevator to the 3rd floor and located my room along a dingy, dank and poorly lit corridor. as soon as i opened the door my suspicions were adequately confirmed with no surprises- though with disappointment. i was tired and simply wanted a decent room with a comfortable bed and a hot shower. i did get the latter, however. the bathroom was almost the size of the bedroom and the water temperature and pressure were satisfactory. the room itself was small, dirty and neglected in almost every way. the air conditioning did not work and the fan made a terrible clanging noise all night. the bed was hard and lumpy. the bedding was worn and not well laundered. the sparse room furnishings were scratched and old- fit to burn. i was very pleased to make a very early evacuation and take one of the first available ferries! "

"This hostel is located away from the main tourist and backpacker district, so it made getting around a bit difficult. But otherwise, this place was great- very friendly staff, a nice breakfast each morning, a beautiful view from the 12th floor or a building- it is everything you could want from a hostel."
