Jungle Bar Cottages
San Vicente,San Vicente - View on map
"A beautiful place, in the middle of the jungle. 15 minutes away from lovely Long Beach. The bamboo lodging is well thought out and allows you to experience the sounds of nature, the incredible view of the ocean through the jungle, and time away from distractions. I really loved the shower- it’s cold but ingenious design. If you need some respite, this is the place. The restaurant provides lovely food, including some different dishes other than the normal Phillipino fair. It’s not a place that’s buzzing with activity, which I loved, but if you are after more of a social vibe then maybe look closer to town. It was a 30 minute drive out of Port Barton ( you need a four wheel drive or a bike to get through the bad rocky/ muddy road ) and the owners will organize a cheap shuttle for you. As with many places in the Phillipines now, drinking water is provided free of charge. "

LAZULI RESORT

"We hoped to experience mor ein San Vicente but unfortunately we arrived the same week as a typhoon. We were stuck in our room for three days and were fortunate to have a nice safe, clean, place to stay during that time. We heard some horror stories about other places in the area and were glad we weren't caught there. Lazuli and club Agutaya are really the only two options if you are looking for comfort. Especially liked the beach right outside our door and the surfing lessons were awesome! "

Hashtag Tourist Inn

"Had a great stay at Hashtag Tourist Inn. The owners were super friendly and helpful, you can easily book your boat tours, transfer van and scooter rental through them directly. Would have been awesome if they had an area to rinse off your feet before entering the room as they get very sandy. We would stay again on our next visit! "

"I did a last minute booking and was warmly greeted by the girl in the reception during a late evening. She informed me that my room wasn’t available for 2 nights in a row, but I needed to change to another room during the next day. No problems for me. My first room was all up to a high standard and I enjoyed it a lot. Met my expectations completely. My other room didn’t have a bed table lamp so that was clearly a minus. I also didn’t have any hand soap but as I brought my own I didn’t bother to ask. Either way - the people working here and the owner are really nice people (one from the staff didn’t have her best day but we all have been there) and really accommodating and friendly. The whole island was without water for some hours and they did a great job informing everyone and helped us turning the thermostat back on for hot water when the water came back. All in all - I’m super happy about this place and would recommend anyone going! "

Le Cou de Tou Village Resort

"I wanted to write a detailed review for this place because it's not like anywhere I've stayed before and if I hadn't read reviews in advance I wouldn't have known what to expect. So I hope this is helpful for both prospective visitors and the resort owners. This little resort is very pretty and the staff are lovely and very helpful. It's a cheap place to stay so not much is included; it's nice and simple and a bit of an adventure so if you know what to expect you'll have a great time. We stayed in one of the rooms on the second level, I think it was the cheapest option so you get what you pay for. Our friends were in one of the bungalows and it was really nice inside and had a much better bathroom if you can afford a little more, if not then the cheaper rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. A few things you should know before you go: - you will only have power from around 6pm-12am as with much of the town - the shower doesn't really work so we washed in the bucket - there is no glass on the windows and we had no shutters. There is mosquito mesh and we had no mossies in our room but it was bright so I wore an eye mask - it is noisy! There are lots of cockerels in this part of town which I actually got used to after the first day but it backs onto a school which one day played booming music at 7am and woke up the whole resort. Take ear plugs - wifi works when the power is on and sometimes when it wasn't, it's fine for messaging - the walls are by no means sound proof so be prepared to get to know your neighbours well. Everyone was considerate when we stayed though. Things that could be easily improved: - our sheet was really scratchy - the towels are small - the breakfast was two slices of the typical sugary white bread and a fried egg every day. It was quite an experience staying here and we really enjoyed our time in Port Barton, it's a lively town whilst still maintaining an authentic feel. Overall a great stay."

Bathroom was outside and no hot water but it didnt bother us. Highly recommended, worth of your money. "
