Great place to relax”

Food and hammocks

we stayed here for 5 nights after a nice relaxing stay on koh tao. we loved baan manali as it was so easy to relax. although the beach isn't ideal for sunbathing and swimming, it is very easy to get a taxi to another beach if you want to on koh phangan and we went to 3 other beaches whilst we were there to see as much of the island as we could. it's a very short walk into thong sala where there is a great night food market and a couple of bars although they're very quiet. it's certainly not somewhere to go for a mad night out! from here, though, you can get a taxi to haad rin where you can find some much busier beach bars and party till 4am like we did one night which was good fun. the bungalows themselves are very comfortable, a nice big bed with a mosquito net. we didn't really need the net as there was often a strong breeze meaning the mozzies couldn't fly. there was a nice balcony area on the front where we sat playing cards after cocktails which was very pleasant also. food at baan manali was excellent, a wide variety on the menu, all cooked really well. the breakfast was excellent as well. we don't normally like to eat in the place we're staying, but here we did twice as it was so good. overall, we really liked the place and if we went back to koh phangan would consider staying again.

Everything you want for a price you can afford”

Gorgeous views, great location, delicious food, awesome bungalows, and a good price!

Having spent the first half of our Thailand trip in more modest accommodations, we were so thankful to arrive at Baan Manali and felt like we'd been transferred to paradise. Our private, air-conditioned bungalow had a beach view with gorgeous, panoramic sunsets that could be seen from bed! And speaking of beds, we were so thankful for a comfortable bed and a mosquito net — oh, happy sleep. You also get your own deck with chairs and a comfy hammock (daytime is fine, but bring mosquito repellent if you want to sit there in the morning or evening). The bathrooms are clean and modern and the rooms feature an in-room safe, mini-fridge, and free wi-fi. Breakfast was included, and while not huge portions, we found it to be just the right amount of food. Keep in mind there is only one chef and the food preparation takes time, so relax, enjoy the views, talk, read a book, pet the dog... you're on vacation and I promise the food is worth the wait! They have nice cabanas to lounge in near the beach. The water out front is very shallow and murky, but if you wade out a ways, you'll get to deeper, clear water that you can swim in. You can also collect shells out on the sand bar or rent a kayak and do some exploring. The nearby port town of Thong Sala is close enough to walk to and has plenty of shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, there was one open air market where the local Thais and resident hippies gave us dirty looks, refused service, and make it clear they didn't want tourist-types there. You can also rent a tuk-tuk (motorbike) or take a taxi to Haad Rin if you are looking for the party scene (of course, it is craziest during the Full Moon Party). We're so glad we stayed at Baan Manali. I did a lot of research and can tell you it's a great price for all the amenities. The owner took great care of us and we would definitely return!

Wonderful resort, great location staff and price”

Owners were very friendly, quiet resort, food was great, very small and family like feeling

We stayed (2 families with kids of all ages) at Baan Manali for 1 week during October, weather was perfect, location is really nice - secluded beach, very small resort, with the houses well spaced, Thong Sala within 5 minutes walk. The owners - Liat & Sebastian were very friendly and helpful. The Rooms were very clean and had everything required - we surprisingly managed to survive without a TV & Fridge for a full week... I Strongly recommend this place - I find that all the reviews and the high scores it got was justified, and I am very happy to have trusted the previous reviewers - that is how I picked this place when I was looking for a resort. If I would improve anything it would be to add a Cappuccino / Espresso machine to the restaurant – the local coffee was not that good, and we found a nice place within 5 minutes of walking :)

Feel Like Home Bungalows with european service”

Very comfortable and clean bungalows with sea veiw and hammock, greatly located in a calm and quiet Nai Wok Bay with its own lonely beach and a sand spit, however only 5 mins by feet far from Thongsala - the main pier and market place on Koh Phangan, hot shower, european standards of accomodation and service, delicious breakfasts and very nice hosts
to be honest - there are no cons that worth mentioning

a great place to stay were you feel yourself like home very clean and tidy bungalows designed with a sense of taste and comfort. every bungalow is sunset oriented and has a seaview terrace with a hammock and so that sitting there you can watch the beautiful koh phangan sun set. the couple hosting baan manali deserve special mentioning - a very nice couple of a french guy and israeli girl with a baby, who are very conscious about their guests and the service standards and besides are just great people who we were really glad to meet

An amazing resort for the perfect vacation”

Restaurant, friendly owners, beautiful bungalows

I had the chance of staying here with a big group of my friends (we were 12) and just had the perfect Thailand vacation. The owners make you feel at home! Everything from the restaurant was delicious, from the 5 options for the included breakfast (they even had the option of a french crêpe) to the great dinners with refreshing home made drinks made from fresh fruits! This place is extremely quite and relaxing. If you plan are partying at the Full Moon Party, you can easily get to Had Rin by taxi, but you are far enough not to be bothered by everyone else partying once you are back in your bungalow. I cannot thank the owners enough for the great 4 days at their Resort and I strongly recommend everyone to have their perfect vacation at Baan Manali Resort!

Beautiful bungalow getaway on koh Phangan ”

Friendly staff and owners, good location, lovely bungalows.

No TV or Fridge in our bungalow, but what an amazing room. The beach is beautiful and clean(compared to around Haad Rin), with a chill restaurant to lounge in. One of our best stays in Koh Phangan. Sebastian is invested in making your stay enjoyable. We loved the hammock on the deck of the bungalow, and baan manali was a relatively short walk away from restaurants, the thongsala town amenities, the local English pub, and massage spas as well.

Lovely location, feels like paradise! ”

Very chic and clean bungalows, quite location, sea view, on a coconut plantation

the location of baan manali resort is absolutely great. it is located close to the fishermen - village thong sala, and still quiet, being on a coconut plantation. the bungalows are far from each other, which provides more privacy, and most of them face the sea. you can relax the hole day in the shade of the coconut trees, in a hammock. the location is also family and kids friendly. the terrace has also a lounge area, facing the sea. you don't have to leave the resort to drink a good cocktail and eat a very delicious dinner. the owners are very nice and helpful. if you want to make a tour of the island, rent a scooter. you'll have lots of fun, while checking all the nice spots on the island.

Sea-view bungalows in laid-back atmosphere”

Great place to relax - beautiful view of sea, islands and sunset - good food

We had a great time at Baan Manali Resort and would be happy to come again. In your bungalow close to the beach you will definitely enjoy this peaceful and relaxed place. You can rent a kayak and paddle to islands or along the shore. The sea next to this place is quite shallow and popular with wind- and kite surfers. The restaurant offers a variety of Thai and Western food at reasonable prices. For breakfast you can choose from the menu. Only downside was the weak Internet connection in our room. But overall highly recommended.

Relaxing Resort”

Convenient location, lovely view, excellent staff

We arrived to find ourselves in the middle of unexpected week long rain that eventually turned in a flood. As a result we spent much more time relaxing at our bungalow than expected. Nonetheless we enjoyed our time at Baan Manali resort immensely. The restaurant had good prices and delicious choices on the menu. The room was comfortable and clean and had a fantastic view of the water. I look forward to going back again.

Pretty close to paradise”

Quiet, Location, Owners.

i loved baan manali - but please don't tell anyone else as it should remain a 'best kept secret'. if you want to keep away from the craziness of haad rin and the full moon parties, then the location is perfect. the bungalows are great, clean, air con and tasteful. slap bang in between high-end luxury and back pack basic. lovely rooms with beautiful garden surroundings, my bungalow had the 'open the curtains in the morning to the see the sea' wow factor. travelling alone, i was happy to eat on site every night and the food was good. a quiet enough place not to feel self conscious and to chat with people if you wished. can't say enough good things about the young family in charge - kind, relaxed and very thoughtful. great location from the harbour and the town of thong sala - a pleasant 20 mins walk to banks, shopping and restaurants. set on a small stretch of beach, which felt delightfully private. i was happy to just hang out there and read all day. i'll say again, very relaxed, so if you're a high maintenance kind of person, or looking for action, go to a bigger resort. you can hire a kayak to pootle about and visit a small nearby island - the owner gives sailing lessons too.

Cool little hotel on the beach”

wonderful views, nice private cottages, great food, friendly staff

we really enjoyed our stay at "baan manali"! it is a lovely, small, personal hotel right on the beach. the food was awesome (our breakfast was included) & they have a happy hour from 4-6 with some great drinks. the owners & their staff were very pleasant. the cottages were great; cute, simple decor, each one has it's own porch complete with hammock & they are far enough away from each other to give privacy. i would warn you that they do not provide complimentary bottles of water every day (just the first one). nothing wrong with that, just different from the other hotels we stayed at in thailand.

2nd time i have stayed at baan manali and it was still as good as my first visit. the setting is very peaceful and even though the beach is not the best it is very quiet and has amazing sunsets. the couple that own it are very friendly and helpful without being too imposing. the breakfast was good as were the thai dishes we tried. they do some great healthy juices as well that are a must try. would definitely recommend!

I kept coming back.”

We had intentionally meant to stay in Koh Phagnan for a week, we ended up staying an extra few nights at Baan Manali. One of the most relaxing places to stay on the island and 5 mins from Thong Sala.

A little gem in Phangan”

Location, Staff and nice room with hammock

I had a great stay with my boyfriend over last Xmas in Baan Manali. The room was clean, few steps to the beach. I love the quite surroundings, and the hammock on the deck of each bungalow. The owners are nice, they'll answer your questions about Phangan if you're the first time traveller here. Over all, my boyfriend and I had a great stay here .

What a wonderful, beautiful place!”

Baan Manali was such an incredible value - the bungalows, hammocks, beach (which was basically private), staff, food, and room were phenomenal!! We have been traveling for a few months now and this was by far our favorite place to stay.

Beautiful Beach Bungalows and Brilliant Restaurant”

Restaurant Food is Great, Bungalows are individual

we arrived to koh phangan and booked this hotel for our stay during the full moon party. this is located in thong sala so it is far from haad rin, about baht per person by taxi. the beach bungalows are beautiful though. the beach is corse sand and has loads of shell but its just a great view! the hotel owner sebastian is a great host and very helpful. the restaurant chefs are brilliant and the food is great! free wifi is great too!

Excellent accommodation, great staff”

I stayed here for a few nights in September. It's a small complex of beach bungalows built to a high standard with excellent interior design. They're also kept sparklingly clean, neat, and tidy. The place is quiet and peaceful, with quick access to the main town, and run by a friendly couple who are happy to provide local recommendations. Highly recommended for anyone traveling to Koh Phangan.
