I had not intended staying at this hotel, but the Backpackers I had emailed managed to muck up my booking and I didn't discover this until I had arrived in Auckland. So I checked out available hotels on Agoda and sent an email to Auckland City Hotel. Within half an hour I was installed in room 110. The room was a twin bed, clean and comfortable. Auckland City Hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Queen Street and the Aotea Centre, and perhaps a 10 minute stroll from Britomart Travel Centre. There are a couple of convenience stores on the same block as Auckland City hotel, so its no problem to nip out for some nibbles or a forgotten essential. The staff are friendly and professional. All in all, I consider Auckland City Hotel to be a serendipitous find. I'll be staying here again.

Very quiet and excellent value for money”

staying at the auckland city hotel was a very pleasant experience. we have had recent experience of "good value" accommodation being very substandard, but this was in no way our experience here. the hotel entrance is old and gracious and has a pleasing decor. the staff were helpful and pleasant. our room was small, well appointed, clean and comfortable. best of all, the king size bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet, so despite the central location we had the best nights of sleep that we have ever had away from home. we also appreciated having two oil heaters that we could control ourselves, and so could keep the room at a temperature that suited us. that was very unusual, in our experience.

Overall i was happy with my stay at the Auckland City Hotel and i will be more than happy to stay there again. Although when i booked it, the young guy on the counter found it very hard to answer any of my questions, he was either nervous or just wasn't sure which was a little annoying. Also parking wasn't included in the bookingwhich was again extremely frustrating as the reason i booked this hotel was because we had a car. Luckily we found a parking lot across the road that turned out to be cheaper. Overall though, the rooms were cleaned and serviced daily. The room was a good size and had everything you needed. A very comfortable hotel to stay in :)

Cosy hotel, great value in the heart of the city”

auckland city hotel surpassed my expectations in every possible manner. at such affordable pricings, you would expect a hotel with no-frills. upon stepping into a room, however, your notion of budget hotel would change forever as its rooms are comfortably fitted and can rival five-star hotels in the region. you would soon realize that the hotel is conveniently located near many of auckland city's attractions: including sky tower, queen street and more. i hardly had to spend any dollar on public transport within auckland city, thanks to the convenient location of the hotel. do not expect, however, a great view from your room. upon drawing the curtains, you would realize that you are facing the balconies of residences. nevertheless, the great value, clean rooms and decent toilets make for comfortable living in auckland city.

our stay in auckland was amazing and this hotel certainly contributed to that experience. the location is great, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff was very helpful. we arrived really early so they stored our luggage while we went outside and explored the city center. i would recommend the hotel to any traveller going to auckland.

booked online from canada, the reception was excellent and as we expected. looks are deceiving and the hotel exceeded our initial expectations. the internet was expensive and we found a much cheaper location, just around the corner. staff were very helpful with directions and with arrangements for the airport shuttle....highly recommend the auckland city hotel.

Good location with friendly staff”

The location of this hotel is good. You can find lots of restaurants nearby. It takes only 10-minute walk to Queen St which is the most popular area. The only downside is the overnight parking fee is NZD30 which surprises me. But it seems hard to find an accommodation with free parking in Auckland city center.

Best Hotel I have ever stayed in”

Myself and my boyfriend really enjoyed our stay at the Auckland City Hotel. The room was spotless. The bathroom was also very clean. The hotel is in a central location, with lots of things like internet cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. If I was returning to Auckland, I would definitely stay here again.

Comfy and spacious room with good location”

It's my first time to visit Auckland, and I'm so pleased to have booked to stay in this hotel, it is simply comfortable, clean and with a very good location! It's just 8min. walk to the Auckland city icon - Sky Tower, and then take another 2min. walk, can reach the main street of its downtown. The room surprises me with a fully equipped kitchen inside, good for people who plan to stay for up to a week in Auckland city, you can buy seafood from the Auckland fish market and cook in the room yourself! Overall, it's a worthy and happy stay!

Awesome experience”

I stayed at the Auckland City Hotel after checking out of a really bad other hotel. There, the staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. The room was really big, the bed super comfortable. I will definitely stay there on my next trip to Auckland!

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a friendly staff member who went out of her way to help us with our questions, the rooms were lovely and comfortable with lots of space and were very clean. I enjoyed the stay at Auckland City Hotel immensely and would recommend it.

Auckland City Hotel was a good location for me, close to the Intercity Coach Terminal. The rooms were lovely and modern and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this Hotel to any Auckland travellers.

Friendly staff”

We stayed here for 2 nights during our short visit to Auckland. The hotel itself is clean and the staff is very friendly. We arrived a few hours before the check-in time, we requested and got an early check-in for free of charge, since we were traveling with a 2 yo. Thanks Howard for it. The Malaysian restaurant inside the hotel was great, wished to have dinner there more times. The staff arranged an Airport taxi for us for $35, which is the best in the city, I am sure. Altogether, we had a pleasant stay and we wish to come back again in the future.

Nice, affordable hotel”

I stayed in this hotel on two separate occasions during my trip. Both times the rooms were clean and comfortable. Each one also provided views of the city/suburbs of Auckland. The only downside was that with it being close to bars and clubs, there were very loud and rude guests returning to their rooms between 3-4 a.m. every night I was there. Not a fault of the hotel, just a downside to the great location.

Lovely hotel and great location”

The location of the hotel was very convenient. Major attractions such as the Sky Tower and shopping centers were within walking distances of the hotel. There were also many convenience stores and eateries nearby. The service staff at the hotel were friendly and knowledgeable. The room we stayed in was clean, well maintained and relatively spacious. It was certainly value for money and we would consider coming back to stay at the hotel when we visit Auckland in the future.

Great location, value for money, in auckland city center, walking distance to shopping. Room a bit small, but clean. The service of reception staff named Charles is excellent, he help us to book rental car to Rotorua. We should back here next time.

I had a very good time in auckland city hotel. it was my first time in auckland and location was perfect. also restaurant was cheap and very nice food. Onlt 4 mins to Sky tower which was very good location for travelers. Also close queen street and there are many shops cinemas and lots of restuarant. I am happy that stayed in auckland city hotel.
