I checked in Deluxe Family Room (17m2) on 17 - 19 July 2017. 1/ LOCATION (10+): Strategic & historical central of George Town. Walking distance (10 minutes) to Komtar Terminal Bus. Especially, Bus 102 from Penang Airport to Komtar (took longer time, around 1h30 and Bus 401 & 401E from Airport to Jetti & Komtar. But Bus 401 / 401E for back to Penang Airport faster, only 30 - 45 minutes; And CAT Bus Station 9 (CAT is Central Area Transit or Free Shuttle Bus. CAT Bus is fantastic, run across all attractions in Penang). Walking distance Komtar Tower, Dome, Upside Down Museum (5') and some temples / Mosques / Museums; Nearly Penang Street Art (Hop off CAT Station 15). When you hop off CAT Station 15, don't forget to enjoy Cendol, very delicious. In my opinion, Cendol in George Town (Penang) is the most delicious, more delicious than Cendol in Melaka & Kuala Lumpur. 2/ EXTERIOR & INTERIOR of Apollo Inn: Bright Exterior and Lovely Interior. 3/ SERVICE (10+): Excellent. Friendly & helpful staffs. My deeply impression on Apollo Inn is quick response any my messages / emails after booking and before check-in. And Apollo Inn really recorded all my special requests. This makes me feeling that I will be enjoyed one of service styles of 4 - 5 star hotel before check - in. After I checked in, they brought me feeling as my home. 4/ BREAKFAST & TEA - TIME FOR COMPLIMENT (10+): Delicious and exceeded my expectation. Especially, Vietnamese Fried Rice, Spring Roll, Malaysian Fried Noodle and stir-fried vegetable with tafu are very delicious. Free Tea - Time with some sandwiches, some Cup Noodles, sweet cake and coffee. Especially, free cold drinking water is available any time. 5/ ROOM FACILITIES: The same as photos on their advertisement on Agoda. Having towels, safety box in room, shampoo and body lotion, toothbrush / toothpaste & hair-dryer upon request, TV (13 channels included BBC, TLC, Disney Channel) but No soap, No fridge, No closet. We stayed 3 nights at Apollo Inn, booking a total of 3 rooms for my group of 6 people. I had booked a triple room and 2 standard double rooms. Except for the triple room which has windows looking out to the street below, the 2 standard rooms do not have any window. As what was stated by other reviewers, simple breakfast was provided, and afternoon snacks also provided. For the price that we are paying, I think it was a very nice gesture by the management to provide these. The location is very convenient for guests to go to various places around Georgetown, either by the free tourist shuttle bus or by the rapid bus servicing the area. It is also walking distance to the bus terminal and the malls nearby. Mr Alan, a very friendly manager of Apollo Inn, was very patient to answer our many queries on how to move around in Georgetown and other attractions in Penang which we were not aware of. Because of time limit, we will K.I.V. them for our next trip to Penang. Friendly staffs too!

Best Location and Value in Georgetown”

Allen at the front desk (the chinese looking man) was above and beyond friendly, caring and helpful throughout our entire stay. Every request for any type of food, tea, restaurant or nightlife we were looking for he specifically told us where to go and how to get there. Extremely friendly. Any requests were taken seriously. Upon check out he allowed us to leave our bags behind the counter safe and sound before our evening flight. When we got back to the hotel to retrieve our bags he even offered us if we wanted a complimentary snack (on the table) or shower! Amazing! And this was after checking out The location couldn't have been better. Right in the heart of Georgetown. The street adjacent to the alleyway of the hotel (Kimberly Street) is famous for hawker street food stalls, which were all extremely delicious (follow my instagram @zacks5 for food pics and more). About 10-15 walk to Penang Times Square and 10 minute walk to Penang Road. This hotel is also located across a large supermarket and mall The rooms are quite small, but definitely worth the value for the money paid. Everything about the hotel was extremely clean and well organized, looking hip, new and fresh. The bathrooms, bedsheets, pillows, and floor all were clean. The best thing other than the service about Apollo is the rooftop garden. On the rooftop, open 24/7, is a decorated garden with tables and chairs and music to get great views of penang or a great spot to have a bite of street food or drink. Apollo inn was nothing short of amazing for the value paid.

Cheap,Convenient,Family Feel”

So im a solo travel and stay at this hotel from 30 december until 1 januari 2016, for the first day i check in at this hotel the reception staff ( girl ) really help me alot where i should go to take cat bus for the first day and guide me how to go laundry nearby ( since im very hygiene need to wash my tshirt everyday ) and every information that i need as this is my first time in Penang, and since i have a bit issue at the hotel ( P&C) this hotel really help me alot since the Owner of this hotel also even to offer me something that i really cant expect , but my choice still want to stay at this hotel, i really like their rooftop at level 4 ( smoke and celebrate new year upstairs with other guest ) really realxing and fit my soul as a Y-GEN haha :) , uncle that work at this hotel also very good and nice i feel like he"s my grandfather already haha and all the staff are very friendly and helpful from reception till housekeeping, and the most favourite part is they provide breakfast,lunch also for all guest room ( doesnt matter whether you stay at dorm,suite,and room) really worth every penny I suggest for all new traveller&touris wanna come to Penang please stay in Apollo INN since it very nearby with Komtar Station Main Terminal and great hotel i ever stay even in Dorm room ( very comforatble and 5 star dorm) Last but not least enjoy my holiday in Penang :)

a very recommended hotel”

this is my first time stayed at Apollo Inn, I and my family arrived at penang from KL by bus at 5 am in the morning, when we arrived to Hotel at 5.30 am and heavy rain...so cold ..we already prepared to sleep at sofa at lobby hotel. but the man at receptions counter very kind. he allowed us to check in at that morning for free, and they prepared breakfast in the morning until 10 am and tea time at noon until 7 pm. although when I booked , there was no breakfast. the food was good. I very liked the lemon juice. the staffs very kind...I already tried some hotels in penang, but no as good as Apollo Inn in service the guest. very high recommended this hotel

During my stay at Apollo Inn”

Layout is cozy and modern. staff very friendly and polite, their services are very courteous, they meet my expectation. Additionally, They assited me to find out what I requested and give me info. The prices very reasonable and Location just very nice nearer to all Penang famous food stall, museum like Dark Manaion or upside down house, shopping mall 1st avenue, Pragin mall, Komtar 59 Top VIEW Restaurant and bus terminal to everywhere. All are just 5 to 10min walking distances. Besides,I like their rooftop when I was there at night to relex and enjoy the view of George Town. Definitely I will recommend to my friend to stay at apollo inn when they travel to Penang. Keep it up. I will come back again. :)

Apollo Inn Hotel should be a 3 Star Hotel ”

We really enjoyed staying in Apollo Inn Hotel. Feeling welcome by their friendly staffs & services. They really made us feel at home. They will tell us where to go for visiting & which bus to take especially Mr. Alan. My wife was just saying that she likes to eat Nyonya kueh & next morning it was provided during breakfast. Really feel appreciated for Mr. Alan's kindness & response. We will definitely be coming back to stay with Apollo Inn Hotel during our next visit to Penang again. Thumbs Up.

Affordable family rooms”

Pros: I enjoyed my stay at Apollo Inn found that the stay was the positive standard of 'paying for what you get'. My stay was a family room with 2 double beds. The room is not a very spacious one, but has almost all the basic necessities you need for a room. The rooms and lobby areas are well-maintained and clean. The staff here are helpful and friendly, a few of whom will have small talks with the occupants in the hotel. The lobby has plates, cups, cutlery and a water dispenser for occupants to use, and coffee & tea bags are available up till 7pm at no cost. The complimentary breakfast is sufficient for a simple breakfast fare and even have individual yogurts for occupants to consume. The security of the hotel is rather good as the staff will lock the glass doors after midnight.(For entries after midnight, there is a door bell to call for the staff to unlock the door.) Cons: The only negative point is that the room is not equipped with a cupboard(but I guess it is due to the size of the room), and has only a basic wall-rack with hanger. Although the main doors of the lobby are locked after midnight, I cant help but feel a little insecure as the room does not have any door locks except for a door flip-hinge. The rooms can only be accessed by keys but I cant rule out the possibility of the door being picked, since there is no lock to the room door.

What can you say when you pay less amt of money, but you get a great service from this budget hotel. Staff very friendly, very clean and location are superb! You dont need to rent a car when you stay at this hotel. You can just walk to Komtar/get a bus to all attractive places at Penang. You can rent a bicycle and go to Street Art to take a very nice shot/picture. Free breakfast, simple but delicious. Great for a budget hotel. Eventho it doesnt have windows and rooms quite small, but it doesnt matter for four of us (two adults and two kids)! Thumbs up to Apollo Inn!

Perfect location ever, good value for money”

Stay as a solo traveler. Perfect location ever. Was lucky to find this hotel accidentally through Agoda. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom was spacious. Just next to Kimberly street where street food are available in various items. Very near to Komtar bus terminal, just walking distance. So happy about the location. I was not worried at all to get the Bus to everywhere. I thought Georgetown is far from Hotel, it turns out I managed roaming Georgetown by foot only from hotel (until weld quay etc). Awesome !! I was allowed to check in earlier as I arrived Penang by 9am. Thank you very much ! I love the coffee, tea, and light snacks which were served all day for free. However the room is a little bit too small, hardly to organize all my stuff, but was ok as I was alone anyway. Overall, nice stay. I will stay there again and recommend other friends to stay in Apollo inn.

We spent 2 nights in Georgetown/Penang and booked a Superior Double room. The room was with a small window, queen size bed and separated bathroom including breakfast. Unfortunately, we have not tried the breakfast because we slept too long or because we had to leave the hotel early. One good thing that we need to highlight is that coffee, tea and light snacks are served throughout the day for free. The room and the bed were clean and cosy. The room size was a little bit too small but we stayed only for sleeping in the room. So it was ok for us. One highlight is the roof top for chilling and relaxing with a nice view over the city. A bus station with free city shutle buses is only a 5 minutes walk. So we have never had a problem to go to Penang hotspots with public transport. Furthermore a shopping mall (7Eleven, Restaurants, ATM etc.) can be reached in 5 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wifi was great and worked always. They also offer a laundry service for small money which we used. In summary we would recommend the Apollo Inn.

Value for money, comfortable , clean”

I have book family room for our 4 person trip to Penang. It is quite surprise as Apollo inn have free breakfast which really nice and awesome compare with other hotels. The staff are friendly and it is really value for money.It location is great and near to the Lebuh Kimberley which plenty food. I like their rooftop and next round we may bring some drink and have the view of George town.

Apollo inn was such a pleasant surprise. Considering that it is a budget hotel, the state of cleanliness and staff behavior was just terrific. Complimentary light breakfast and snacks were a great indication of the management's focus on customer satisfaction. The location of the hotel is ideal if you want to see the cultiral/historic sites in old penang as well as the vibrant Chinese and Indian towns. The big prangin mall is just a few meters away. Would definitely stay here again due to the friendliness of the staff and the value for money this place offers.

Great Stay”

Apollo Inn was a fantastic place to stay in Penang. It was nice and central with fantastically clean, well appointed rooms. They provide a very substantial breakfast every morning and refreshments during the day. Only minor problem was that we could only access 2 local TV channels so couldn't catch up on news etc in down time. Other than that, a great place to stay!

Little Gem at Georgetown.”

Location is good, near Komtar bus station which makes travelling by public buses to/from airport and order places convenient. Daily breakfast was good enough for my husband and I. Lots of eateries near the hotel. My room was very clean and the whole hotel looks well-maintained. Coffee/tea are available the whole day, including light snacks. The staff is friendly, particularly Alan, who helped us resolve a case of wrong booking with them. Thanks, Alan. I highly recommend Apollo Inn to all budget travellers.

Excellent”

This is my second stay in Apollo Inn after a year. Glad to say it still keeps up to its standard. Location wise, kimberly street is just right below the hotel. Lots of eateries nearby within walking distance. Basic hotel facilities, basic breakfast and despite small rooms, the beds are comfortable to sleep in. However, if travelling by car, parking is quite limited around the hotel. If you are lucky, you will get parking slots nearby the hotel.Definitely recommended.

Clean & cozy”

We got the room on 4th Floor, it is a nice and comfortable room with window, what's unique here is, this inn has rooftop garden which has nice view at dawn. the location is near to KOMTAR, just 5 minute walk, and has many good restaurant nearby. the staff is very helpful and friendly. we are very satisfied staying here. Apollo inn is very good inn and recommended for all travelers.

Lovely hotel, great staff - highly recommended”

We initially booked our room for only three nights, but ended up extending our stay twice as we needed more time to explore Georgetown's food scene and culture. Apollo Inn's staff were great in answering our hundreds of questions on where to go for dinner, where and how to book our bus tickets, where to find this and that. They also called ahead to our next hotel to see if they had any available rooms. We also loved the roof top terrace which gives you a great view of the surroundings and it's a nice place to chill out in the evening. Granted the rooms are pretty small (the queen size bed takes up most of the space), but the room is nicely furnished and the layout of the room is well thought out, and you're out and about most of the time anyway. I would definitely recommend this hotel, great value for money, great staff - we will definitely come back! Thanks Apollo team!

Blissful Stay at Apollo Inn”

Hi guys! Apollo Inn greet every customers with a big smile and soft spoken words. They offer morning breakfast and afternoon tea too and a rooftop garden to hang out. I would recommend to anybody who's searching for a place to stay in Georgetown.

Standard facilities with great location”

We booked 3 standard double rooms for 2 nights. Upon check-in, the receptionist informed me about breakfast serving time and it is complimentary even though it did not included during booking. Rooms are a bit smaller than we expected. The rooms in the pictures are the corner rooms. The food stalls are located at the end of the road. The CAT, city route free shuttle bus, bus-stop is just near-by. The receptionists are very help and informative. The breakfast is not much variety but delicious. Refreshments (snacks and drinks) are provided whole day at the lobby. Car rental and tours can booked at the reception. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at Apollo Inn and we would like to come back again.
