"Talk about feeling welcome. The experience started when you are greeted by the security guard at the gate. He was well informed and friendly, guiding us exactly where to go. The staff at the coffee shop continued the positive experience with their friendliness and guidance. We had a light lunch, homemade style but very nice. The Hotel itself is definite hip and very comfortable. The rooms lack some attention in cleanliness and maintenance. Ordering dinner from the coffee shop, although the cost is more than fair, was a bit disappointing. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning and check out was jsut as painless. Well done to The Nicol!!!!"

"greeted with a warm welcome by friendly staff, the room was excellent, very spacious. so easy to get to the eastgate centre. the lounge and pool area was well maintained. i would definitely stay at this hotel again on my next trip to johannesburg. due to a late flight departure we were allowed to stay in the room for a late checkout"

"The guesthouse is a short drive from the airport set in a safe and secure outer suburb of Johannesburg. Very welcoming (and present) family owners and staff; great for solo travellers, families, older couples and for those finding their feet in SA. Decent Internet, several good restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance, good breakfast, nice braai facilities and the garden was a great place to chill. Good facilities in the room including a fridge and a kettle (access to a microwave). Car parking space if needed and tour companies are happy to pick you up (it's not far to drive to major roads.) The only downside is that it is quite far from central Johannesburg if you don't have a car - although the taxi rides to the Gau train do add up a bit, you can't stay in conditions this nice in the centre for anything near this price so I didn't regret it one bit."
