A Heritage of Its Own”
At first i was a bit hesitant to booked in this hotel. By the name itself 1926 Heritage Hotel, it crossed my mine antique houses, of course! when its old it has something different. However it was a bit too late for me to looked for any other hotel online. (i.e. i booked the hotel less than a week before my flight to Penang from Johore. and because it was a late night flight. i decided to booked rather than look for a hotel by the time we got there ).But contrary to all my weird imagination.. the hotel's atmosphere is completely different. Once inside, i felt like im just a foot away from home. From accommodating staff to the room itself.. very nostalgic.. I also got the experience of being able to feel how governor used to live.Wow!!!truly high-class.. In the morning we had complimentary breakfast buffet style. Food is good. The location of the hotel is not so far away from Komtar (main bus station).. If your business is to mainly to (jalan-jalan)scout around, do sight seeing it is best to walk. Find and appreciate all other heritage buildings which are not even included in the brochure's map..once you do all the sight seeing, it is not so hard to find your way back to your hotel since buses passes in its main road.

A treasured find - The 1926 Heritage Hotel”
Stayed at the 1926 Heritage Hotel for 2 nights. We initially booked for only 1 night but extended our stay to 2 nights. This is a delightful little hotel, very very clean, decent room sizes - not too small and not huge, has all the basic amenities you would need. RECEPTION Check-in at the reception was fast, easy, no frills. They are not overly polite, but they aren't rude either. Just so-so and we didn't mind. We were not expecting much from reception anyway, just wanted our keys to get to the room. Check-out was pleasant and fast too. When I extended the other night, that was done very quickly and promptly as well. ROOM Room is a nice size. The one we stayed in (240) was in a corner and had a Queen size bed. These corner rooms are nice because when you open your door there is a little area for shoes followed by steps going downwards into your actual room. You will then find your bed, a small TV, a wardrobe and dressing table + side table by the bed, and a electric kettle to boil water. There is sufficient room and space for 2 people to comfortably live in. The bathroom is large for a budget hotel. The only downside was the thin looking towels in various shades of white (some older, some newer) and the shower holder was spoilt although the shower head itself was working. Very minor issues for me personally and my bf did not mind either. Overall we were very pleased as the room is extremely clean, some mosquitoes but only if you open the windows at night. Caught a glimpse of the other rooms on our way in and out during our stay. Some rooms have a large and nice balcony facing the car park and pool. Very pleasant and nice if you want the extra space and fridge. (Our room had no fridge, but we didn't really need one) HOTEL AND SURROUNDINGS It is quite a walk from the reception to our room, but we didn't mind. The walkway is nice and charming, The garden between the main block and the rooms is sweet. There were no unpleasant or musty smell throughout even though

very spacious rooms!”
we stayed at the 1926 heritage hotel for two nights and found it great value for money. we stayed in a family room and had two rooms! it was great to have space to spread out. the staff were really helpful with ideas of things to do in penang and made us feel very welcome. we had dinner one night in the attached restaurant and thought the food was superb. we also appreciated the help we were given when ordering = we were saved from over-ordering and got to focus on local dishes. the bonus for this hotel was the pool...very much needed after a steamy day exploring georgetown!!

Amazing hotel, beautiful service, amazing offer!”
An absolutely marvelous hotel, based on an antique building, but well maintained giving such a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. The room was more than adequate, even though the bed was a little hard, I don't think that would be the issue in all of the rooms. It was a lovely stay all round! It is very well located in what I would deem a more central place, for the visiter whom would like a feel of Penang Island on foot. Wonderful food restaurants just nearby and such a beautiful atmosphere, my vacation could have not been better! Just for the wish of more time though. The staff of 1926 Heritage Hotel were very polite and orderely and guided me with any help or queries in the best manner they could. Very friendly staff indeed. The room was clean and well presented with a lovely feel of a small cottage, a quaint bathroom and a cozy double bed. The furnishings were ample, I couldnt ask for more. Overall a marvelous place and totally worth the money paid for it!

A Good Place to Stay!”
We enjoyed our stay at 1926 Heritage Hotel. Our ground-floor deluxe room was spacious, with ensuite, fridge, and a balcony. The pool is large enough for a ‘proper’ swim and the staff were very helpful, readily providing pool towels. We had a couple of minor problems in the room and maintenance were there very fast to fix them. Breakfast (included) was plentiful with a choice of Malaysian or Western-style – it was tasty, but unfortunately most food was COLD as the burners were not on underneath the pans. There are two restaurants on site – maybe the reason for the sign prohibiting “outside food”. We didn’t intend to have outside food anyway, but as a result of the sign vowed not to eat in either restaurant. We travel a lot, and it’s more the norm to find takeaway menus in the room! There are two excellent Malaysian style eateries just around the corner anyway in Jalan Burma, Burmah Food Paradise and Old Green House. Thirty seconds later, there’s a 7-11. There’s also a good Japanese Restaurant just nearby (Isaribi), at the continuation of Jalan Imegresen across the road (Jalan Chow Thye). We walked everywhere – 10-15 minutes to Paradise Plaza (including Giant Supermarket). Thirty minutes or so walk depending where you’re going in Georgetown. We’d definitely stay again!

Real Heritage Hotel with service with a smile”
1926 Heritage hotel is located near to all the top 10 penang attraction like Penang Hill, temples, Gurney. actually we can say centrally located. Hawker shops and malls are near within 3 minutes walk. We were on short stay and really impressed with way in which they maintained the hotel without loosing the heritage charm with all modern amenities. Unfortunately, because of our short stay we didn't get a chance to use the pool; eventhough we just passby and felt well maintained and clean. Receptionist Mr. Jai was really helpful and friendly with great smile.

Good service and location”
my first stay in malaysia is in 1926 heritage hotel. the hotel is better than i expected. i have been in the gb in 2007. this time, the hotel brings me back to the uk. the hotel is in british style. the rooms are with back yard and front yard.and the most important thing is the hotel with long history. and the management is well-ordered. the staffs are very friendly.in a whole, the hotel can meet client's need. and the location is very good.it is very convenient to go to any places of interest. if the instruments could be modern and high-intech, that would be great. in a word, it is worthwhy to choosing 1926 heritage hotel.

Great value”
We were looking for somewhere not-too-expensive to put up for the night as we were passing through Penang and found 1926 Heritage on agoda.com going for a song, so we booked it. Check-in at 11.30pm was a breeze with the friendly desk staff on duty. The room was easy to find and was delightfully spacious; I wasn't expecting that for the short-notice price we paid. The mattress was wonderfully firm (great for my aching back!) and the bathroom, while not exactly 5-star fitted, was also spacious and had a hot shower. Despite it being the middle of town, the hotel was delightfully quiet at night, so we slept with the windows open to let the breeze in. Was awakened in the middle of the night when the mosquitoes started biting too, but plugging in the insect repellent vaporizer plug supplied in the room soon took care of that issue. We woke early to have breakfast at the hawker centre just a short walk up the street from the hotel and came back in time for a quick dip in the pool before checking out and resuming our road trip. Great stay, at a great price. Would recommend it to anyone!

Staying in an antique museum ”
We stayed here for 7 days on the second floor. Average room, nothing to gloat about, but it was basic and decent, cool air con and all. The pool was awesome during the day so that was a highlight. Also found out that 1926 Heritage was a great location. All Uber drivers seemed to be passing by and knew this location. It's in between Georgetown and Gurney, so going to Gurney Plaza (or Paragon) was a breeze via Uber. There is also an awesome Japanese restaurant directly across the street, in a residential street filled with converted restaurants. Heritage is also directly next to Old Greenhouse, a late night street food eatery for drunks. In short, I would recommend 1926 but expect to use a lot of Ubers as it's not exactly close to Georgetown or anything else walking distance minus a handful of restaurants. The breakfast buffet was also pretty disappointing, it's basically the same core of congee, scrambled eggs, toasted bread, baked beans, and coffee, we got pretty sick of that. Staff at the reception was helpful and there was also a travel desk, although I never saw any customers there. Hotel seemed mostly vacant at the time we were staying.

Nice & affordable hotel with familiar staff”
I feel no regret by choosing this hotel as our accommodation during our trip to Penang. Though it's an old building (British colonial heritage), it's clean, nice/well maintained with relatively affordable price. I found that some food shops are reachable from this hotel, so we dont have to worry about being hunger/thirst. There are Nasi Kandar, Biscuit Shop, 7 eleven, & Lou Han Kuo stall nearby. Last but not least: 1926 Heritage Hotel staff were very friendly & helpful, we're very thankful to them all for the unforgetable moments during our stay.

Penang Break”
Excellent. Easy to find, and a charming old colonial hotel. The room was roomy, tidy and clean and had coffee and tea facilities, which I always enjoy. Everything worked fine and the staff were helpful and friendly. Having read some of the reviews I fail to understand people who are negative with regards to this hotel. If you want the marble and brass of the 5* hotels like the Hyatts, Hiltons and Sheratons, then go there and pay the price. But the 1926 Heritage was economical, had a good pool, close to good shopping (Gurney Plaza) and was a relaxing stay for myself and partner. Will stay again...

Excellent Stay”
The 1926 Heritage Hotel is right in Georgetown, short Taxi ride away from anything you'd want to see...great price, excellent warm and helpful staff with a authentically rustic hotel that had large clean rooms and an excellent unexpected balcony...couldn't be more happy with the stay

Lovely Peranakan Hotel”
We are regulars for the 1926 Heritage Hotel. We travel very often to Penang for business, and like to stay in this hotel for its convenience in easy access to anywhere: whether shopping, dining or working. It is very near to Gurney Drive, town centre and main access to every part of the island. Would recommend for business traveller who like serenity and feeling of home stay.

We’ve stayed at 1926 Heritage Hotel many many times & always go back when we come to Penang. Clean rooms, lovely staff, swimming pool, excellent restaurants and hawker stalls nearby, close to Pulau Tikus market, hospitals & the free Penang bus service to Gurney & Paragon plazas.

Reasonable price but 30 minutes walk to georgetown”
I expected to see more antique heritage 1926 model structure than 1926 heritage hotel. Internet has difficult to reach my room, possible too far away room(room 131). Swimming pool is nice, I liked the water. 30 minutes walking distant to georgetown and traffic is terrible in front of the hotel. The room is nice and clean and provided in the room with tea and coffee. Next to hotel has several restaurant with different kind of foods so you don't need to go to town to eat. To take a bus to town you need to walk 10 minutes to other side road bus stop since it is one way road.

Great Hotel, Quiet at Night, daily Buffet breakfast, I will go back”
Lovely Heritage Hotel on two levels, nice average sized pool and great breakfast at the Buffet each day, some same cooked dishes but also cereals, toast juices etc choices as well. Staff are amazingly helpful and friendly and cleaners are awesome. Manager is sincerely engaging. Not in center of all Georgetown but amazingly so quiet at night. Go there, try. I am going back. One guy I met stayed for an extra month. Thank you to all of 1926, pleased to stay for 12 nights, and sad to leave. Go there.

Not luxurious, but nice hotel”
When I stay, 60% of parking lot was occupied got swimming pool (small one) air cond was cool\fairly cold, maybe because of summer (the workers should get plenty of water to shower\clean the air cond's outdoor compressor "can see a layer of dust behind it"), I got 5Mbps with Speedtest and watched 720p on Youtube from its Wifi (consider it shared line with other hotel guest, its good) Free breakfast, average asian food, egg, sausage, hashbrown potatos, porridge. there was an old guy waiting for guest to select what ingredient the guest want for him\her omelette, and he will cook for him\her. tv channels, only receive locals. not clear though. (I brought android tv box with me when travel, its fine for me) receptions, all of them are nice and polite. got free refill drinking water behind reception clean bed sheets and pillow case. the doors, buildings and walkways look very old fashion. (its named '1926 heritage') I think its cool. RM150 nightly for 3 persons, I would come again.

Free breakfast, swimming pool, good location etc. What’s more can I ask for this price? ”
A lot of people are complaining about the free breakfast. Well, I and my family have tried and loved it! There’re Nasi Lemak Rendang(Malaysian’s favourite), scramble eggs, baked beans, breads, porridge etc, and a chef is making omelette on the spot. What more can I ask for this price? If you want a 5 star breakfast please go for 5 star hotel! Why choose this low price hotel? Secondly, many people are complaining about this hotel is too old blah blah blah... come on, the name is Heritage Hotel! If you don’t appreciate heritage, there’re so many other new hotels you can find in Penang(in fact I kinda like their old wooden floor). For me, this hotel is perfect for the price, we get a free breakfast, swimming pool and in a good location. Again, what’s more can I ask for?

Great location”
we spent two nights at Hotel 1926 and we had a great time there. We were given a room at second floor. The room was rather small but overall the condition of the room was good. The staffs were friendly and always greet us with a smile. We chose Hotel 1926 for its location. it only took us 30min to walk to downtown Penang and Penang road for cendol. We even walked to Pulau Tikus and it was so convenient. Highly recommended for those who want to explore downtown Penang and have little time in Penang.

Feel like home”
We are regulars for 1926 Heritage Hotel. This hotel give us the feel of home stay during the Peranakan period, and it has an enclosed car parking compound with guards. Thus for travelers who drive like us, we feel safe and convenient to leave our cars at the parking. Another thing, the hotel has a famous chicken rice restaurant in it. The Hainanese chicken rice shop is good.
