Superb service!”

This is my second time at 118 Hotel Macalister. I love their staff here, they are friendly and give the best customer service you could ever ask for. It's a good hotel and definitely a good value for money. The only downside I had was that the aircon remote had unknown sticky brown stains that looked quite fresh as it was quite wet. Other than that, everything was exceptional! The hotel is a 10-15 minutes walk away from Komtar which isn't actually that far as Penang is easy to navigate through and it is enjoyable to walk around and explore.

Exceptional”

Overall, the rooms are clean & in good condition. The staffs are very friendly & helpful. The location of the hotel is very strategic as it is situated within walking distance to all the famous food stalls & restaurants around the Macalister road & Penang road. In addition, it is also a good option for those who will mostly be travelling around Penang by public transport as it is near Komtar.

Smack in the heart of town”

We wanted to stay at this Hotel as it was close to New Lane, the food haven in Penang and we did not regret it. The room is small (for double bedded) and windowless but not stuffy. The sheets were clean and so was the bathroom. Only thing is that the walls are thin and sometimes you can hear chairs being dragged upstairs or doors banging. TV does not offer much option but then you are in Penang so no need a luxury hotel ya....The price per night is a steal and worth it. Will definitely stay here again.

Good Location to stay in the centre of georgetown”

if you are looking for hotel in the centre of penang, this will be exactly the best choice... But if you want hotel with lots of facilities, this will not be your choice... the hotel do not have a lot of facilities... just room and flexibility in going anywhere in penang.... anyway this hotel fits my expectation... will stay here agai when in penang...

Standard 3 star hotel”

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in a triple room, 1 single bed and 1 double bed. pros an up to standard 3 star hotel, with comfortable bed and private bathroom, aircon, TV - the standard ones. new modern hotel, not refurbished old shop houses. channels available: ntv7, 8tv, aec and few sports channel. location: on the busy macalister road, beside food heaven New Lane. - really convenient location to get supper, or walk to Komtar. However, armenian st is quite far and better take a CAT bus at stop 10 (komtar north) cons The room was quite cramped up so basically there is limited space to put your luggage. There is only 5 hanger in the cupboard and it is definitely not enough. Please bring extra hanger if you plan to stay here No fridge. (kinda expected) only 3 carparks availiable in the hotel - which is in front of the hotel. and it was first come first serve. no free parking coupon available from the hotel management. We end up park our car in front of public bank and buy few sheets of coupons from the hotel. Stayed May 2016, travelled with family

Strategic location ,near many street hawkers. Just few minutes walk ko Komtar, Prangin Mall and 1st Avenue. The staffs are very polite and helpfull. Enjoy staying in 118 Macalister.

Location is the BEST”

The location of hotel is really excellent. Only 1 mins by walk to New Lane Hawker Street where has so many famous Penang's street food with a friendly price. And < 10 mins by walk to Komtar which is a central of transportation in George Town. Bed and Pillow is very clean and good condition. Shower has a really good pressure. Only there is no fridge in the room but it is not a big deal !! What's else you will need ??

As like as 118 at datok kramat. All the best (clean, strategic, friendly staff), but this better, couse here is new building seattled at Dec2015, and side by side with food area.

Good hotel ”

- Location: is convenient to walk to the heritage streets. It is also easy to find the food/ restaurant around the hotel. Especially, the Chinese restaurant which is opposite to the hotel is very good. Its food is extremely delicious & good price. - Room: is a little small but very spacious and clean. Facilities are OK. - Staff: is very friendly and give you some advice if you need any information. We asked them to check-out later than 12:00 p.m but they didn't agree. However, they explained clearly and kept our luggage until we left (at 8:00 p.m).

Good value for money”

Checked in was quite fast and we were even allowed to check in earlier than 2 p.m. A deposit of RM50 was requested and additionally you have to pay RM4 fee for local hotel fee (?). The staff were all friendly and helpful. We booked the family room with 2 double beds. The space was a bit crammed but it was actually much better than I had expected it to be and we were able to make do with the limited space with 4 of us in the room. Overall quite clean but our beds have strands of hair that we had to clean them up ourselves. There was an electric ceiling fan on top of the standard air-con. Water heater was also available. The toilet/bathroom was quite small. Towels and only liquid gel for washing were made available so do bring your own toiletries. Packets of coffees and mineral water were also provided to guests. You can boil your own hot water with the available electric kettle. Not much of a view at 4th floor but surprisingly the traffic noise was minimal considering our room facing the street. At night, slight noise from nearby bar/karaoke. Best part is that food is everywhere especially with the New Lane is just next to the hotel. There is a travel agency just outside of the hotel for you to make booking for tour package or cab bookings. The location of the hotel is within walking distance to Komtar whereby you can catch the HOHO bus, Rapid buses or CAT free shuttle buses. I would recommend travellers to stay at this hotel if they do not want to stay right smack in the Georgetown area. Plus the hotel is disabled friendly and equipped with lift so it is suitable for elderly.

Worth for the prcie and good location”

Located at the center of Penang, near the Komtar. Clean and worth for the price. But no fridge and only two sockets in the four beds room. Overall is recommended.

Thought, this is one of the best hotel of Penang. Very Clean even at the tiny spot of your blanked, Very strategic place from food corner and komtar, all Staff very polite-helpfull-nice-smilefull.

Good service and convenient location”

Staff is great. Room was clean. Location is very good: near malls, hawker centers, points of interest and even a Catholic Church. Will stay again at this place if I go back to Penang.

Good Budget Hotel”

Good: Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location next to night food market. Surrounded by restaurants. Short walk to Komtar bus terminal and shopping. Bad: Not a 3-star but a good and clean budget hotel. No room telephone, no fridge. Wi-fi was good. Walls were thin, I could hear people talking middle of night. Advertising showed my room with a window but was told only a few rooms had windows. So if you are claustrophobic, this hotel is not for you. Eric (please only use this name)

Good location”

Good location, good price, friendliness staff. The location is super good, easy to find a meal. The facilities all the tourists need is wifi and it's good. Definitely will be my hotel choice next time

Located in the heart of Jalan Macalister Road with a lot of hawkers selling food any time of the day. Stone throw to Komtar and 1st Avenue shopping mall.

A very good hotel with a very friendly staffs ..Especially the staff for whom on duty at night shift. Good location with all the nice foods jz next to the hotel. Clean room with very comfortable lightings in the room. Overall all very good !
